Book A Suite for the Computer aided Design of Control Systems

Download or read book A Suite for the Computer aided Design of Control Systems written by and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multivariable interactive processes generally require control by multivariable decoupling controllers in series with conventional single-variable controllers. The techniques that are available for the design of such multivariable controllers are relatively complex, requiring the use of a digital computer. Also, the design of numerous conventional controllers is greatly facilitated by computer-aided design programmes that reduce designing time.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computer Aided Design of Control Systems focuses on the use of computers to analyze and design the control of various processes, as well as the development of program packages with different algorithms for digital computers. The selection first takes a look at the computer aided design of minimal order controllers, including design of interacting and noninteracting dynamic controllers of minimal order and basic algorithm. The book then discusses an accelerated Newton process to solve Riccati equation through matrix sign function; suboptimal direct digital control of a trickle-bed absorption column; and structural design of large systems employing a geometric approach. The text underscores the computer as an aid for the implementation of advanced control algorithms on physical processes and analysis of direct control algorithms and their parallel realization. Topics include hardware influences on the control, process influence, and interactive structure design of direct control systems. The book also takes a look at the optimal control of randomly sampled linear stochastic systems; computer aided design of suboptimal test signals for system identification; and computer aided design of multi-level systems with prescribed structure and control constraints. The selection is a dependable source of data for readers interested in the uses of computers.

Book excerpt: Computer Aided Design in Control and Engineering Systems contains the proceedings of the 3rd International Federation of Automatic Control/International Federation for Information Processing Symposium held in Lyngby, Denmark, from July 31 to August 2, 1985. The papers review the state of the art and the trends in development of computer aided design (CAD) of control and engineering systems, techniques, procedures, and concepts. This book is comprised of 74 chapters divided into 17 sections and begins with a description of a prototype computer environment that combines expert control system analysis and design tools. The discussion then turns to decision support systems which could be used to address problems of management and control of large-scale multiproduct multiline batch manufacturing outside the mechanical engineering industries. The following chapters focus on the use of CAD in control education, industrial applications of CAD, and hardware/software systems. Some examples of universal and specialized CAD packages are presented, and applications of CAD in electric power plants, process control systems, and transportation systems are highlighted. The remaining chapters look at CAD/computer aided engineering/computer aided manufacturing systems as well as the use of mathematical methods in CAD. This monograph will be of interest to practitioners in computer science, computer engineering, and industrial engineering.

Book General Input output Computer aided Study of Multivariable Nonlinear Control Systems

Download or read book General Input output Computer aided Study of Multivariable Nonlinear Control Systems written by Georgi Marko Dimirovski and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis proposes a general, computer-aided, input/output approach to the analysis and design of multivariable nonlinear control systems in the time domain, and presents an interactive computer package called CSNCS which implements this approach. It covers the classes of additive nonlinear and/or time-varying gain, and linear time-invariant and time-varying gain systems, both continuous and, discrete-time, lumped-parameter systems with or without pure time-delay. The theoretical foundations of this computer-aided analysis and design technique are developed within the framework of systems theory at Klir's third level of generalization. The appropriate parts of input-output theory of causal feedback systems are described, and several new definitions and theorems are presented. In addition, the relevant mathematical material is rigorously outlined, including functional analysis in abstract algebraic structures of system operators and signal spaces, and state-space formulation of differential and difference equations with time-delay and static read-out functions. Based on these foundations, a new mathematical scheme for numerical system operators and signal realizations is developed in a form suitable for computer implementation. This involves what are termed "k-time sequence matrices", which provide a powerful and flexible tool. This enables the construction of an axiomatically founded, self-contained algorithmic mechanism in the time-domain for system applications. The computer implementation of this approach evolves around the conversational programming concept of a hierarchial computational package, with a man-machine interaction having carefully chosen ergonomic properties. Numerically it is directly based on the algorithmic mathematical formalism developed in the thesis.
