Book The Interacting Boson Fermion Model

Download or read book The Interacting Boson Fermion Model written by F. Iachello and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1991-08-30 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The interacting boson-fermion model has become in recent years the standard model for the description of atomic nuclei with an odd number of protons and/or neutrons. This book describes the mathematical framework on which the interacting boson-fermion model is built and presents applications to a variety of situations encountered in nuclei. The book addresses both the analytical and the numerical aspects of the problem. The analytical aspect requires the introduction of rather complex group theoretic methods, including the use of graded (or super) Lie algebras. The first (and so far only) example of supersymmetry occurring in nature is also discussed. The book is the first comprehensive treatment of the subject and will appeal to both theoretical and experimental physicists. The large number of explicit formulas for level energies, electromagnetic transition rates and intensities of transfer reactions presented in the book provide a simple but detailed way to analyse experimental data. This book can also be used as a textbook for advanced graduate students.

This book was released on 1994-07-05 with total page 522 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These proceedings address the new emerging questions in nuclear dynamics such as fluctuations, nuclear multifragmentation, transport theories and particle production in heavy-ion reactions. Parts of the proceedings are also devoted to the physics of metallic and atomic clusters where, quite often, nuclear concepts and techniques are applied.

Book Perspectives For The Interacting Boson Model Proceedings On The Occasion Of Its 20th Anniversary

Download or read book Perspectives For The Interacting Boson Model Proceedings On The Occasion Of Its 20th Anniversary written by Richard F Casten and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1994-12-16 with total page 780 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These proceedings comprise the contents of a major international conference on Perspectives of the Interacting Boson Model. Occasioned by the 20th Anniversary of this model, and attended by approx. 130 scientists from 29 countries, the topics focused on current and future research, which relates to the IBM. This model has now become one of the standard approaches to nuclear structure and has helped usher in a renaissance in that field and a new, unified perspective that focuses on dynamical symmetries and the key role of the valence nucleons. The algebraic approach fostered by the model is being extended to other fields, including nuclear reactions, molecular physics and baryon structure.

Book Nuclear Structure with Coherent States

Download or read book Nuclear Structure with Coherent States written by Apolodor Aristotel Raduta and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-02-11 with total page 523 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers the essential features of a large variety of nuclear structure properties, both collective and microscopic in nature. Most of results are given in an analytical form thus giving deep insight into the relevant phenomena. Using coherent states as variational states, which allows a description in the classical phase space, or provides the generating function for a boson basis, is an efficient tool to account, in a realistic fashion, for many complex properties. A detailed comparison with all existing nuclear structure models provides readers with a proper framework and, at the same time, demonstrates the prospects for new developments. The topics addressed are very much of current concern in the field. The book will appeal to practicing researchers and, due to its self-contained account, can also be successfully read and used by new graduate students.

Book Computational Nuclear Physics 1

Download or read book Computational Nuclear Physics 1 written by K. Langanke and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-22 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A variety of standard problems in theoretical nuclear-structure physics is addressed by the well-documented computer codes presented in this book. Most of these codes were available up to now only through personal contact. The subject matter ranges from microscopic models (the shell, Skyrme-Hartree-Fock, and cranked Nilsson models) through collective excitations (RPA, IBA, and geometric model) to the relativistic impulse approximation, three-body calculations, variational Monte Carlo methods, and electron scattering. The 5 1/4'' high-density floppy disk that comes with the book contains the FORTRAN codes of the problems that are tackled in each of the ten chapters. In the text, the precise theoretical foundations and motivations of each model or method are discussed together with the numerical methods employed. Instructions for the use of each code, and how to adapt them to local compilers and/or operating systems if necessary, are included.

Download or read book Exotic Nuclear Spectroscopy written by William C. McHarris and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 661 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Several hundred nuclear scientists from more than a dozen countries met in Miami Beach, Florida, in September 1989 for a Symposium on Exotic Nuclear Spectroscopy, sponsored by the Division of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology of the Amencan Chemical Society. Braving five days of beckoning beaches, they presented, listened to, and discussed a series spectroscopy-both experimental and of invited papers covering the renaissance of nuclear theoretical-that has occurred during the past decade and which promises to continue well into the decade to come. This book contains the Proceedings of that Symposium on Exotic Nuclear Spectroscopy. But it is much more: During the ensuing six months, most of the pa{>ers were rewritten, polished, and/or expanded; so the resulting book is a much more fimshed, comprehensive, and up-to-date product than a general proceedings. Chapter se~uences follow the original symposium program, which, with a few exceptions, juxtaposes like topics. Each chapter can stand more or less on its own-although, as in any complex, interrelated scientific field, there are many cross-references among chapters. The manuscripts were edited and then uniformly typed in the Department of Chemistry at Michigan State University. I tried to keep the editing to a minimum so as to preserve the flavor of individual styles. A great debt of gratitude goes to those who helped make this volume possible, especially to Vada O'Donnell, who bore the largest burden of typing (and clarifying) the manuscripts.

Book Contemporary Physics Celebrating The 65th Birthday Of Professor Abraham Klein

Download or read book Contemporary Physics Celebrating The 65th Birthday Of Professor Abraham Klein written by Michel Vallieres and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1993-09-30 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook is an introduction to probability theory using measure theory. It is designed for graduate students in a variety of fields (mathematics, statistics, economics, management, finance, computer science, and engineering) who require a working knowledge of probability theory that is mathematically precise, but without excessive technicalities. The text provides complete proofs of all the essential introductory results. Nevertheless, the treatment is focused and accessible, with the measure theory and mathematical details presented in terms of intuitive probabilistic concepts, rather than as separate, imposing subjects. The text strikes an appropriate balance, rigorously developing probability theory while avoiding unnecessary detail.
