This paper makes use of an Intellectual Capital Disclosure index constructed through a participatory stakeholder consultation process to develop a disclosure index which measures the extent and quality intellectual capital reporting in the 2011/2012 annual reports of 105 IRAN. The final index comprised 26 items divided into three categories: internal capital, external capital and human capital. The most reported items were joint ventures/business collaborations and management processes, while the least reported items were intellectual property and licensing agreements. The most reported category of intellectual capital was internal capital, followed by external capital. Human capital was the least reported category.The paper identifies a number intellectual capital items whose reporting could be improved to meet stakeholder disclosure expectations. In the internal capital category this included the disclosure of intellectual property. In the external capital category disclosure concerning ratepayer demographics and licensing agreements could be improved. While the disclosure of most items in the human capital category could be improved, particular attention should be given to entrepreneurial innovativeness and vocational qualifications.

Book excerpt: This study aims at analyzing and determining the relationship between the effectives of Capital Intellectual and beneficial investment opportunity set in 81 Companies of listed in Tehran stock exchange during 85-90 yers. In the analysis of the relationship between the variables and proving the hypothesis of the study, correlation method (simple regression and multiple regression) was used. The result show that there was significant relationship between the human capital, structural capital and employed capital efficiency with beneficial investment opportunity set, also there wasn't any relationship between the effectives of Capital Intellectual and ratios of EPS-to-P. so that there was significant relationship between effectives of Capital Intellectual and beneficial investment opportunity set. This means that the efficiency of human capital, structural capital and employed capital can be utilized as a valuable resource for profitable investment opportunities for companies to take account. It can be concluded that the effectives of intellectual capital, is a potentially benchmark for measuring and reporting of beneficial investment opportunity set.

For the first time in decades, the adoption of serious liberal reforms seemed possible. But the opportunity proved short-lived, leaving Iranian activists and intellectuals to debate whether any path to democracy remained open. Offering a new framework for understanding democratization in developing countries governed by authoritarian regimes, Democracy in Iran is a penetrating, historically informed analysis of Iran’s current and future prospects for reform. Beginning with the Iranian Revolution of 1979, Misagh Parsa traces the evolution of Iran’s theocratic regime, examining the challenges the Islamic Republic has overcome as well as those that remain: inequalities in wealth and income, corruption and cronyism, and a “brain drain” of highly educated professionals eager to escape Iran’s repressive confines. The political fortunes of Iranian reformers seeking to address these problems have been uneven over a period that has seen hopes raised during a reformist administration, setbacks under Ahmadinejad, and the birth of the Green Movement. Although pro-democracy activists have made progress by fits and starts, they have few tangible reforms to show for their efforts. In Parsa’s view, the outlook for Iranian democracy is stark. Gradual institutional reforms will not be sufficient for real change, nor can the government be reformed without fundamentally rethinking its commitment to the role of religion in politics and civic life. For Iran to democratize, the options are narrowing to a single path: another revolution.
