En lo que atañe al Derecho en general, y al proceso penal concretamente, los problemas que podría resolver, y ventajas como el aumento de la eficacia y rapidez de la administración de justicia, o la mayor objetividad en cuanto a la averiguación de la verdad material de los hechos delictivos, se ponen de manifiesto al mismo tiempo que los riesgos que su uso podría conllevar, como el peligro para las garantías procesales constitucionales. De todo ello y de algunas cosas más, como las nuevas diligencias de investigación sumarial, las pruebas supuestamente objetivas, la predictibilidad de las resoluciones judiciales, el riesgo de reiteración delictiva o de reincidencia, e incluso de la posibilidad futura de ser juzgados por un juez-robot, se habla en este volumen. En él se recogen aportaciones de muy diverso origen, pero todas ellas presididas por el designio de que el progreso tecnológico, al que no podemos ni debemos oponernos, no suponga poner en peligro las conquistas del Estado de Derecho acerca de la labor de resolución del conflicto penal.

European Union law has been gradually updated to reflect this new reality, with Intellectual Property Rights legislation and Consumer Law leading the way toward a suitable regulatory framework in the Platform Economy. However, the EU has not devised a comprehensive strategy for tackling the challenges posed by the online sale of physical consumer goods, such as effective public enforcement in online environments. In fact, sector-specific legislation, including Food Law, largely ignores online transactions. In this context, the book evaluates the impact that online marketplaces are having on European Union sector-specific legislation and its e-nforcement.
