Book Designing Effective Instructional Tasks for Physical Education and Sports

Download or read book Designing Effective Instructional Tasks for Physical Education and Sports written by David Charles Griffey and published by Human Kinetics. This book was released on 2007 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "There's more to helping participants develop motor skills than just coming up with relevant drills. If you want participants to succeed, you need to structure learning tasks to keep them interested and engaged. Although there are many resources available to help teachers and coaches improve their curriculum, teaching skills, and management, little has been written about the critical issue of effective task design ... until now." "This text takes the most current research on learning and teaching movement activity and translates it into practical, down-to-earth suggestions for coaches and teachers. Using examples both in the gym and on the playing field, the book shows teachers and coaches alike how to develop instructional tasks that maximize students' learning and retention."--BOOK JACKET.

Book Integrated Visual Servoing and Force Control

Download or read book Integrated Visual Servoing and Force Control written by Joris de Schutter and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2003-09-22 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sight and touch are two elementary, but highly complementary senses - for humans as well as for robots. This monograph develops an integrated vision/force control approach for robotics, combining the advantages of both types of sensors while overcoming their individual drawbacks. It shows how integrated vision/force control improves the task quality in the sense of increased accuracy and execution velocity and widens the range of feasible tasks. The unique feature of this work lies in its comprehensive treatment of the problem from the theoretical development of the various schemes down to the real-time implementation of interaction control algorithms on an industrial robot. The presented approach and its potential impact on the performance of the next generation of robots is starting to be recognized by major manufacturers worldwide.

Book INVESTIGATING COMPARABILITY OF WRITING TASKS WITH PICTURE PROMPTS IN AN IN HOUSE ENGLISH PROFICIENCY TEST

Download or read book INVESTIGATING COMPARABILITY OF WRITING TASKS WITH PICTURE PROMPTS IN AN IN HOUSE ENGLISH PROFICIENCY TEST written by YALI SHI and published by American Academic Press. This book was released on 2022-04-28 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For security reasons, using parallel writing tasks within or across different test administrations is common practice in large-scale language testing. Lack of task comparability would result in unjustified variance in test performance and consequently jeopardize test validity and fairness. Thus, it is crucial for test developers to gather empirical evidence from different aspects to substantiate the fairness argument that scores are consistent and score-based decisions are impartial across parallel tasks. Despite many studies hitherto on writing task comparability, those addressing picture-prompt writing tasks in an integrated manner have remained quite underexplored. Therefore, this book investigates the comparability of five writing tasks with picture prompts randomly assigned across testing occasions in an in-house English proficiency test (EPT) of a comprehensive university from three perspectives—the scores, the texts, and the raters and test takers. Results show that task difficulty is not comparable either in terms of some lexical, syntactic and content features elicited or as judged by raters and test takers, which could be related with topic familiarity and conceptual clarity of the picture prompt. Yet, overall task comparability is achieved in not only final scores but also score distribution and classification accuracy. The findings support the fairness argument for EPT writing and provide theoretical, practical and methodological implications.

Book STEM Integration in K 12 Education

Download or read book STEM Integration in K 12 Education written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2014-02-28 with total page 143 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: STEM Integration in K-12 Education examines current efforts to connect the STEM disciplines in K-12 education. This report identifies and characterizes existing approaches to integrated STEM education, both in formal and after- and out-of-school settings. The report reviews the evidence for the impact of integrated approaches on various student outcomes, and it proposes a set of priority research questions to advance the understanding of integrated STEM education. STEM Integration in K-12 Education proposes a framework to provide a common perspective and vocabulary for researchers, practitioners, and others to identify, discuss, and investigate specific integrated STEM initiatives within the K-12 education system of the United States. STEM Integration in K-12 Education makes recommendations for designers of integrated STEM experiences, assessment developers, and researchers to design and document effective integrated STEM education. This report will help to further their work and improve the chances that some forms of integrated STEM education will make a positive difference in student learning and interest and other valued outcomes.

Book Supporting Operational and Real time Planning Tasks of Road Freight Transport with Machine Learning Guiding the Implementation of Machine Learning Algorithms

Download or read book Supporting Operational and Real time Planning Tasks of Road Freight Transport with Machine Learning Guiding the Implementation of Machine Learning Algorithms written by Sandra Lechtenberg and published by Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH. This book was released on 2023-10-26 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: World-wide trends such as globalization, demographic shifts, increased customer demands, and shorter product lifecycles present a significant challenge to the road freight transport industry: meeting the growing road freight transport demand economically while striving for sustainability. Artificial intelligence, particularly machine learning, is expected to empower transport planners to incorporate more information and react quicker to the fast-changing decision environment. Hence, using machine learning can lead to more efficient and effective transport planning. However, despite the promising prospects of machine learning in road freight transport planning, both academia and industry struggle to identify and implement suitable use cases to gain a competitive edge. In her dissertation, Sandra Lechtenberg explores how machine learning can enhance decision-making in operational and real-time road freight transport planning. She outlines an implementation guideline, which involves identifying decision tasks in planning processes, assessing their suitability for machine learning, and proposing steps to follow when implementing respective algorithms.
