Book From Project Management to Team Integration

Download or read book From Project Management to Team Integration written by Shy Ravid and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The non-repetitive nature of projects, globalization, the growing number of distributed project teams, and the substantial number of high-tech projects in which the human brain is the most important resource are just few of the forces making human resource management in projects a critical success factor. These conditions challenge not only project team members' ability to collaborate, but also the capacity of the project manager to effectively manage human resources and to facilitate a collaborative work environment. The quantitative aspects of project management, such as scheduling, budgeting, and resource management, are supported by a large array of tools and techniques, many of them based on operations research methodologies and integrated into commercially available software for project management. However, these commercial software packages for project management offer very little support for the development and management of project teams. In this monograph we review the project management and organizational behavior literature, focusing on key issues in the management of human resources in projects. We then present a model that relates the use of integrative project management tools and techniques to the development of a shared understanding in teams, and to the occurrence of effective team processes. From a practical point of view, we present team integration -- the process by which the goals and work processes of individual team members are assembled into a coordinated whole -- as an important success factor.

Book Group Dynamics for High Risk Teams

Download or read book Group Dynamics for High Risk Teams written by Amy Fraher and published by . This book was released on 2005-11 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This brief, readable book is designed to introduce a new team-building model called Team Resource Management (TRM) and serves as a guide for experiential learning events based on the Tavistock tradition. Using examples from popular culture and industry case studies, this Primer deepens understanding of group behavior by exploring the application of concepts such as leadership, management, authority, role, task, boundaries and teamwork in high-risk teams. Although all organizations have complex dynamics that influence performance, high-risk teams have unique characteristics. Yet, little research has been conducted about how high-risk groups manage teams under stress. This book fills this gap, exploring how professionals in high-risk fields can increase awareness of the dynamics of authority relations, the act of authorizing, and the interdependent nature of leadership, while learning how to manage anxiety in stressful situations.

Download or read book Trauma Team Dynamics written by Lawrence M. Gillman and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-11-02 with total page 323 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first book exploring the unique dynamics created by a multidisciplinary trauma team and how crisis management strategies can improve teamwork and communication and, potentially, improve patient resuscitation outcomes. Crisis resource management (CRM) is integral to the way that we manage ourselves, team members, and patients during emergency situations. It is essentially the ability to translate knowledge of what needs to be done into effective actions during a crisis situation. Building on the revolutionary American College of Surgeons Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS®) course, Trauma Team Dynamics illustrates the integration of the principles of CRM to team dynamics throughout the resuscitation –from the scene, through pre-hospital care and transport, to the trauma bay, and finally to definitive care and beyond. The editors and contributors are international experts in trauma, critical care, emergency medicine, nursing, respiratory therapy, and pre-hospital care and include NASA- and United States military-affiliated experts. Trauma Team Dynamics is intended for use as both a day-to-day clinical resource and a reference text, and includes self-assessment questions as well as guidance on CRM curriculum design and implementation.
