Book Molding Simulation Theory and Practice

Download or read book Molding Simulation Theory and Practice written by Maw-Ling Wang and published by Carl Hanser Verlag GmbH Co KG. This book was released on 2018-06-11 with total page 584 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This practical introductory guide to injection molding simulation is aimed at both practicing engineers and students. It will help the reader to innovate and improve part design and molding processes, essential for efficient manufacturing. A user-friendly, case-study-based approach is applied, enhanced by many illustrations in full color. The book is conceptually divided into three parts: Chapters 1–5 introduce the fundamentals of injection molding, focusing the factors governing molding quality and how molding simulation methodology is developed. As they are essential to molding quality, the rheological, thermodynamic, thermal, mechanical, kinetic properties of plastics are fully elaborated in this part, as well as curing kinetics for thermoset plastics. Chapters 6–11 introduce CAE verification of design, a valuable tool for both part and mold designers toward avoiding molding problems in the design stage and to solve issues encountered in injection molding. This part covers design guidelines of part, gating, runner, and cooling channel systems. Temperature control in hot runner systems, prediction and control of warpage, and fiber orientation are also discussed. Chapters 12–17 introduce research and development in innovative molding, illustrating how CAE is applied to advanced molding techniques, including co-/bi-Injection molding, gas-/water-assisted injection molding, foam injection molding, powder injection molding, resin transfer molding, and integrated circuit packaging. The authors come from the creative simulation team at CoreTech System (Moldex3D), winner of the PPS James L. White Innovation Award 2015. Several CAE case study exercises for execution in the Moldex3D software are included to allow readers to practice what they have learned and test their understanding.

Book Introduction To Signal Processing Instrumentation And Control An Integrative Approach

Download or read book Introduction To Signal Processing Instrumentation And Control An Integrative Approach written by Joseph Bentsman and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 2016-01-11 with total page 772 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book stems from a unique and highly effective approach in introducing signal processing, instrumentation, diagnostics, filtering, control, and system integration. It presents the interactive industrial grade software testbed of mold oscillator that captures the mold motion distortion induced by coupling of the electro-hydraulic actuator nonlinearity with the resonance of the mold oscillator beam assembly. The testbed is then employed as a virtual lab to generate input-output data records that permit unraveling and refining complex behavior of the actual production system through merging dynamics, signal processing, instrumentation, and control into a coherent problem-solving package. The material is presented in a visually rich, mathematically and graphically well supported, but not analytically overburdened format. By incorporating software testbed into homework and project assignments, the book fully brings out the excitement of going through the adventure of exploring and solving a mold oscillator distortion problem, while covering the key signal processing, diagnostics, instrumentation, modeling, control, and system integration concepts. The approach presented in this book has been supported by two education advancement awards from the College of Engineering of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Book excerpt: Textile reinforced concrete (TRC) has emerged in recent years as an attractive new high performance cement-based composite. Textiles can significantly improve the mechanical behavior of cement matrices under static and dynamic conditions, and give superior tensile strength, toughness, ductility, energy absorption and protection against environmental degrading influences. Flexibility with fabric production methods enables the control of fabric and yarn geometry. This, along with the ability to incorporate into the fabric a range of yarns of different types and performances, as well as cement matrix modifications, enables design of the composite to a wide range of needs. The book is intended to provide a comprehensive treatment of TRC, covering the basic fundamentals of the composite material itself and the principles governing its performance on a macro-scale as a component in a structure. It provides in-depth treatment of the fabric, methods for production of the composite, the micro-mechanics with special attention to the role of bonding and microstructure, behavior under static and dynamic loading, sustainability, design, and the applications of TRC composites.
