Book Integrated Chemical Management System

Download or read book Integrated Chemical Management System written by and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Integrated Chemical Management System is a computer-based chemical information at the Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site. Chemical containers are identified by bar code labels and information on the type, quantity and location of chemicals are tracked on individual data bases in separate buildings. Chemical inventories from multiple buildings are uploaded to a central sitewide chemical data base where reports are available from Product, Waste, and Chemical Use modules. Hazardous chemical information is provided by a separate Material Safety Data Sheet module and excess chemicals are traded between chemical owners and users with the aid of the Chemical Exchange Module.

Book Production Integrated Environmental Protection and Waste Management in the Chemical Industry

Download or read book Production Integrated Environmental Protection and Waste Management in the Chemical Industry written by Claus Christ and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-11-21 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Production-integrated environmental protection is synonymous with - reducing the amount of potential pollutants at source - reducing the consumption of resources and energy - recycling and utilization of residues and used products, and therefore a topic of considerable current interest. No chemical process exists that produces only the product desired. Therefore it is an important aim of the chemical industry to reduce the environmental effects of residues of chemical processes. This can be achieved by: - optimizing processes - applying new synthesis routes - improving selectivity - replacing auxiliaries that have a harmful effect on the environment - production-integrated recovery of residues to name just a few possibilities. If you want to know more about them, have a look at Protection-Integrated Environmental Protection and Waste Management. There you will find examples from the chemical industry where modification of existing manufacturing processes or the design of new processes has led to reduction of environmental pollution. Data from companies are given who operate world-wide reflecting a multi national situation.

Book excerpt: To manage the thousands of chemicals in commercial use, decision makers around the world rely on information derived from assessments that examine the risks these substances may pose to human health and the environment, such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) Program, Canada's Chemicals Management Plan (CMP), Australia's Inventory Multi-tiered Assessment and Prioritisation (IMAP) framework, and the World Health Organization's (WHO) International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) Monographs Programme and International Programme on Chemical Safety (IPCS). This report examines: (1) how selected foreign programs conduct risk assessment activities to understand the human health risks of certain chemicals; and (2) how Canada manages the human health risks of chemicals identified as toxic under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA), 1999. This is a print on demand report.
