Book Instructional Support System ISS An Overview for Instructional Personnel

Download or read book Instructional Support System ISS An Overview for Instructional Personnel written by and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 19 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes several efforts that led to the development of the instructional Support System (ISS) from prototype research and development (R & D) software toward a production computer-based training (CBT) system that supports both computer-assisted instruction (CAI) and computer-managed instruction (CMI). These efforts included the operational test and evaluation of the software, rehosting of the software to a validated ADA compiler, development of MicroCMI and interactive videodisc capabilities, development of critical user and system documentation, and design and development of a micro-based version of the software to run on IBM-compatible hardware. ISS is a Government-owned product written in Ada in a modular format, enabling it to run on machines ranging from micros to mainframes, and is available through the National Technical Information Service (NTIS). This is the third of three volumes on the Instructional Support System (ISS). This volume contains an overview for Instructional Personnel to determine if ISS is the correct medium for a specific training application. It provides information on the major training development and management features of ISS. This document is designed for personnel involved in instructional design activities who have a general knowledge of CBT. It emphasizes the various ISS elements used in training development, management, and evaluation. (kr).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes the development of the Instructional Support System (ISS), a large-scale, computer-based training system that supports both computer-assisted instruction and computer-managed instruction. The ISS is a software package that is written in Ada, designed to be machine independent, and grouped into functional modules so that each module can be executed individually or can be combined as needed to support operational requirements. The ISS is not designed for any particular machine or operating system and, hence, can run on computer systems ranging from small microcomputers on up. The ISS is a Government product available on a no-cost basis to authorized agencies or organizations. Keywords: Translators; CAMIL(Computer Assisted Managed Instructional Language); and ASE(Application Support Environment). (Author).

Book Three Reviews of the Instructional Support System ISS Concept

Download or read book Three Reviews of the Instructional Support System ISS Concept written by Steve R. Osborne and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 77 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Instructional Support System (ISS) examined in this report is aimed at increasing the utilization of existing simulators, and improving the quality of training. The ISS can be strapped onto existing flight simulators without hardware or software modification. It provides an interface which instructors and students can use instead of the existing displays and controls. The ISS development had three subgoals: to relieve the instructor of ancillary instructional tasks (e.g., problem setup, note taking, mission communications); to provide automatic ancillary instructional tasks (e.g., computer-generated briefings, automated checkrides, automated performance measurement), and to provide a research tool to enable solution of unresolved design issues. This report describes the resulting ISS and tests conducted at VF-124, Miramar NAS. An analysis of the ISS concept which emerged is presented from the viewpoints of instructional design, operational instruction, and performance measurement design.
