Book Installation Condition Assessment and Reliability of Service Lines

Download or read book Installation Condition Assessment and Reliability of Service Lines written by Y. Le Gouellec and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ... service lines are often the 'forgotten step-child' in water infrastructure management, and if ignored for too long can severely affect the quality and integrity of a utility's distribution system. There are relatively few publications focusing on service lines, and thus the AwwaRF has sponsored a research project to fill the knowledge gap about installation, condition assessment and reliability of service lines, and this report highlights the major findings. This report focuses on residential service lines of 2 in. diameter and smaller.

Book Installation Condition Assessment and Reliability of Service Lines

Download or read book Installation Condition Assessment and Reliability of Service Lines written by Yann Le Gouellec De Schwarz and published by American Water Works Association. This book was released on 2007 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this project researchers developed a practical, low-cost chemical analyzer for real-time monitoring of trihalomethanes (THMs) and haloacetic acids (HAAs) in drinking water distribution systems. THMs and HAAs are possibly harmful to humans if ingested. For this reason the US Environmental Protection Agency established maximum contaminant levels. Future regulations might lower the MCL of these substances. Real-time monitoring of THMs and HAAs will become necessary for future regulatory compliance.(Part 1: ISBN

Book Transformers

Download or read book Transformers written by Xose M. López-Fernández and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-12-19 with total page 623 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent catastrophic blackouts have exposed major vulnerabilities in the existing generation, transmission, and distribution systems of transformers widely used for energy transfer, measurement, protection, and signal coupling. As a result, the reliability of the entire power system is now uncertain, and many blame severe underinvestment, aging technology, and a conservative approach to innovation. Composed of contributions from noted industry experts around the world, Transformers: Analysis, Design, and Measurement offers invaluable information to help designers and users overcome these and other challenges associated with the design, construction, application, and analysis of transformers. This book is divided into three sections to address contemporary economic, design, diagnostic, and maintenance aspects associated with power, instrument, and high-frequency transformers. Topics covered include: Design considerations Capability to withstand short circuits Insulation problems Stray losses, screening, and local excessive heating hazard Shell type and superconducting transformers Links between design and maintenance Component-related diagnostics and reliability Economics of life-cycle cost, design review, and risk-management methods Parameter measurement and prediction This book is an essential tool for understanding and implementing solutions that will ensure improvements in the development, maintenance, and life-cycle management of optimized transformers. This will lead to enhanced safety and reliability and lower costs for the electrical supply. Illustrating the need for close cooperation between users and manufacturers of transformers, this book outlines ways to achieve man

Book Workshop on Condition Assessment Inspection Devices for Water Transmission Mains

Download or read book Workshop on Condition Assessment Inspection Devices for Water Transmission Mains written by K. Lillie and published by American Water Works Association. This book was released on 2005-05-31 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many water utilities have only a limited knowledge of the structural condition of their underground assests. In order to maintain optimum serviceability, it is increasingly important that utilities gain a better understanding of the current condition and performance of these buried assets. Regular inspection and condition assessment of pipelines can greatly assist utilities with developing robust and cost-effective operational maintenance programs, which will optimize capital expenditure whilst minimizing risk. The aim of the project was to conduct a state-of-the-art literature review of non-interruptive condition assessment inspection devices for large diameter transmission mains (greater than 12 inches). In addition, an expert panel workshop was to be held to review business needs and drivers, the performance of existing technologies, and future underground asset condition assessment research needs. Originally published by AwwaRF for its subscribers in 2004.

Book Concrete Solutions 2011

Download or read book Concrete Solutions 2011 written by Michael Grantham and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2011-09-08 with total page 872 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Concrete Solutions series of International Conferences on Concrete Repair began in 2003, with a conference held in St. Malo, France in association with INSA Rennes, followed by the second conference in 2006 ( with INSA again, at St. Malo, France), and the third conference in 2009 (in Padova and Venice, in association with the University of Padova). Now in 2011, the event is being held in Dresden in Germany and has brought together some 112 papers from 33 countries. Whereas electrochemical repair tended to dominate the papers in earlier years, new developments in structural strengthening with composites have been an increasingly important topic, with a quarter of the papers now focusing on this area. New techniques involving Near Surface Mounted (NSM) carbon fibre rods, strain hardening composites, and new techniques involving the well established carbon fibre and polyimide wrapping and strengthening systems are presented. Seventeen papers concentrate on case studies which are all-important in such conferences, to learn about what works (and what doesn’t work) on real structures. Thirteen papers are devoted to new developments in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT). Other topics include service life modelling, fire damage, surface protection methods and coatings, patch repair, general repair techniques and whole life costing. This book is essential reading for anyone engaged in the concrete repair field, from engineers, to academics and students and also to clients, who, as the end user, are ultimately responsible for funding these projects and making those difficult decisions about which system or method to use.
