Book Inspiration on a Poetic Level

Download or read book Inspiration on a Poetic Level written by Jamie C. Hill and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2008-03 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jamie Hill is a happily married, mother of three. There is nothing extraordinary about her, with the exception that she is a child of the Almighty God. Many of her poems describe her life. She was born in Helena, MT and raised most of her life in Mississippi. As a child she spent much of her time in and out of children's shelters and foster homes. She came from a broken home of drugs and alcohol. Many times in her life she came near death through rape, drugs, and suicide attempts. If it had not been for the Lord on her side she probably wouldn't be alive to write this book, but through prayers and "mustard seed" faith she's alive and well enough to share her testimony of how she made it through On April 29, 2007 she came out of a horrible addiction of crack-cocaine and alcohol. She committed her life to God through the precious blood of Jesus. She since has been cleansed and remains filled with the Holy Ghost. She gives all the credit where it is due to the Lord Almighty, Jesus Christ who shed His blood on Calvary to save a wretch like herself. She says that her life is like a familiar song sang by the "Williams Brothers," "I'm just a nobody, trying to tell everybody about somebody who can save anybody."

Book Inspiration and Insanity in British Poetry

Download or read book Inspiration and Insanity in British Poetry written by Joseph Crawford and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-07-24 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the ways in which poetic inspiration came to be associated with madness in early nineteenth-century Britain. By examining the works of poets such as Barrett, Browning, Clare, Tennyson, Townshend, and the Spasmodics in relation to the burgeoning asylum system and shifting medical discourses of the period, it investigates the ways in which Britain’s post-Romantic poets understood their own poetic vocations within a cultural context that insistently linked poetic talent with illness and insanity. Joseph Crawford examines the popularity of mesmerism among the writers of the era, as an alternative system of medicine that provided a more sympathetic account of the nature of poetic genius, and investigates the persistent tension, found throughout the literary and medical writings of the period, between the Romantic ideal of the poet as a transcendent visionary genius and the ‘medico-psychological’ conception of poets as mere case studies in abnormal neurological development.

Book Inspirations

  • Author : Laith Biltaji
  • Publisher : iUniverse
  • Release : 2012-11
  • ISBN : 1475954956
  • Pages : 97 pages

Download or read book Inspirations written by Laith Biltaji and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2012-11 with total page 97 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Poet Laith Biltaji began writing songs and limericks in his head as a child, only committing them to paper later, as a teen. While he draws his inspiration for his poetry from everyday occurrences in his life, it was after reading Michael Crichton's book Travels that he decided to compile a collection of his poems and divide them into four categories: journeys, love, people, and songs. Biltaji's poetry is the product of his personality, which stems from both Middle Eastern roots and global exposure. It is a deconstructed, chronological documentation of his journey through early teenage years, adolescence, and adulthood, documenting influences, people, and his never-ending search for the understanding of life and the supernatural experience of love. His new poetry collection, Inspirations, takes a peek at the inspirations that have shaped his life from his teen years to the present. The poems capture and crystallize the different levels of awareness that he has experienced over a period of twenty-five years. It is that distant region within him and in this world that he has endeavored to uncover and that comes alive in Inspirations.
