Book New Insights into the Treatment of Aneurysms with Flow Diverters Novel Indications and Therapeutic Advances

Download or read book New Insights into the Treatment of Aneurysms with Flow Diverters Novel Indications and Therapeutic Advances written by Yu Zhou and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2023-10-10 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the publications of the International subarachnoid aneurysm trial (ISAT), endovascular treatment has become one of the most important treatments of intracranial aneurysms, and was used more and more in clinic settings. However, intracranial complex aneurysms (such as giant aneurysms, wide-necked aneurysms, fusiform aneurysms and dissecting aneurysms) still impose a huge challenge for clinicians. Flow diverter (FD) is a novel device for the treatment of aneurysms based on the understanding of hemodynamic mechanism of aneurysm occlusion. It could divert the blood flow from the aneurysm neck, and promote aneurysm occlusion without inserting coils into the aneurysms. In addition, the FDs had the advantage of simplifying the procedure and relieving the mass effect.

Download or read book Ischemic Injury written by Thakur Gurjeet Singh and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2024-11-22 with total page 755 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The World Stroke Organization reports that “stroke has already reached epidemic proportions. Globally1 in 4 adults over the age of 25 will have a stroke in their lifetime. 12.2 million people worldwide will have their first stroke this year, and 6.5 million will die as a result.” Ischemic strokes are the most common type of stroke, with about 87% of all strokes being ischemic strokes. This new volume addresses this epidemic by presenting detailed studies on ischemic injury, with emphasis on the molecular-level mechanisms and the role of signaling pathways in the body, their structure, and their mechanism of action. The book focuses on molecular pharmacology plans and explains the new areas of research on the discovery of therapeutic molecules that can be used for combating this life-threatening disease. The authors discuss stroke occurrence at different stages of life as well as sex-based differences in its treatment. They cover aspects of the clinical treatment and diagnosis of patients with cardiovascular events, including in-depth information on the prevention, evaluation, therapy selection, result projection, and long-term course of the disease in affected patients. They also detail the involvement of platelets, neurotransmitters, renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, and vitamin D in ischemic injury.
