Book Mass Transfers and Physical Data Estimation

Download or read book Mass Transfers and Physical Data Estimation written by Abdelhanine Benallou and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2019-09-19 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many practical operations, such as environment depollution, blood dialysis or product purification, require matter transfer. With an emphasis on the aforementioned subjects, this book revisits the founding principles of materials transfer on the basis of Fick’s first law, which constitutes the foundation of diffusional phenomena. Additionally, continuity equations translating the macroscopic balances of systems are established. These balances constitute Fick’s second law, which can be applied to quantify the fluxes of matter transferred in each situation, provided physical data is available. To this end, Mass Transfers and Physical Data Estimation pays particular attention to methods of data estimation. Methods presented in this book are applied to several practical cases, such as diffusion in catalytic reactions or the reconstitution of cartilage in human bone joints.

Book Electrical Systems 1

    Book Details:
  • Author : Abdenour Soualhi
  • Publisher : John Wiley & Sons
  • Release : 2020-04-09
  • ISBN : 111972029X
  • Pages : 240 pages

Download or read book Electrical Systems 1 written by Abdenour Soualhi and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2020-04-09 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Methods of diagnosis and prognosis play a key role in the reliability and safety of industrial systems. Failure diagnosis requires the use of suitable sensors, which provide signals that are processed to monitor features (health indicators) for defects. These features are required to distinguish between operating states, in order to inform the operator of the severity level, or even the type, of a failure. Prognosis is defined as the estimation of a system's lifespan, including how long remains and how long has passed. It also encompasses the prediction of impending failures. This is a challenge that many researchers are currently trying to address. Electrical Systems, a book in two volumes, informs readers of the theoretical solutions to this problem, and the results obtained in several laboratories in France, Spain and further afield. To this end, many researchers from the scientific community have contributed to this book to share their research results.

Book Energy Transfers by Convection

Download or read book Energy Transfers by Convection written by Abdelhanine Benallou and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2019-01-03 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whether in a solar thermal power plant or at the heart of a nuclear reactor, convection is an important mode of energy transfer. This mode is unique; it obeys specific rules and correlations that constitute one of the bases of equipment-sizing equations. In addition to standard aspects of convention, this book examines transfers at very high temperatures where, in order to ensure the efficient transfer of energy for industrial applications, it is becoming necessary to use particular heat carriers, such as molten salts, liquid metals or nanofluids. With modern technologies, these situations are becoming more frequent, requiring appropriate consideration in design calculations. Energy Transfers by Convection also studies the sizing of electronic heat sinks used to ensure the dissipation of heat and thus the optimal operation of circuit boards used in telecommunications, audio equipment, avionics and computers.

  • Release : 2019-05-29
  • ISBN : 111962942X
  • Pages : 229 pages

Download or read book Energy Transition written by Bernard Lachal and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2019-05-29 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although most people are aware of the value of developing new energy technologies, the importance of assessing such technologies is only just beginning to be recognized in full. This book, illustrated by real-life examples, fulfils two main objectives. Firstly, it provides an in-depth summary of energy system evaluation methods, the result of decades of work in this area, for the use of researchers, engineers and anybody else interested in the energy sector. Secondly, the vicious cycle of neglect towards in situ evaluation is broken. This neglect is due to its unjust reputation for being “thankless work”: longwinded, expensive, difficult to exploit and undervalued. By scientifically organizing experience acquired over more than 30 years, Energy Transition highlights the considerable usefulness of the approach, not only economically, but also from a human standpoint.

Book Energy Transfers by Radiation

Download or read book Energy Transfers by Radiation written by Abdelhanine Benallou and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2019-05-24 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inside industrial furnaces and combustion chambers, energy is essentially exchanged by radiation. It is through the same mechanism that the energy emitted by the Sun spreads through different media to reach the Earth. Developing a sound understanding of the laws underlying energy exchanges by radiation is therefore essential, not only for establishing design equations for industrial equipment, but also for an optimal harvesting of solar energy and a better understanding of climate change phenomena such as the greenhouse effect. Energy Transfers by Radiation establishes the basic laws and equations which support the quantification of energy fluxes transferred between surfaces for situations similar to those usually encountered in industrial processes or in solar energy applications.
