Download or read book Developing Mathematical Literacy in the Context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution written by Espinosa, Edgar Oliver Cardoso and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2021-03-12 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, a world of continuous alterations is glimpsed where science and technology are at the base of economic competitiveness and where innovation plays a strategic role in global competition, so that they are forced to cover a series of requirements to compete successfully in an increasingly globalized economy, including high investments in both education and research. Along these lines, the formation of mathematical learning is important because it is oriented towards the development of a set of skills with the aim of resolving situations of daily and professional lives. It focuses on the acquisition of employing the different ways of representing information in the form of models, constructions, and graphs to determine the best decision making. In this sense, it includes the mastery of the handling of numbers, measures, and structures to carry out the interpretation of operations and representations of a quantitative nature on personal and professional situations. For a society to favor innovation, the use of mathematical information is an essential condition that allows the development of creativity and analysis of information. Mathematics education plays a vital role in this development. Developing Mathematical Literacy in the Context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution studies the formation of mathematical abilities in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution regarding its development of both teaching and learning strategies, as well as the use of ICT and its use in the development of this discipline in students. It is important that teachers of any educational level reorient their teaching strategies and their role as educators. Therefore, the chapters discuss up-to-date and relevant information on teaching and didactic tasks in the subject of mathematics. This book highlights mathematical pedagogies, ICT in mathematics learning, teacher training, and classroom strategies for mathematics. It is intended for teachers, pedagogical advisors, business trainers, higher education staff, administrators, teacher educators, practitioners, stakeholders, researchers, academicians, and students interested in mathematical literacy in the fourth industrial revolution.
Download or read book Legal Education in the Western World written by Rogelio Pérez-Perdomo and published by Stanford University Press. This book was released on 2024-05-14 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Legal Education in the Western World provides an encompassing history of legal education from Ancient Rome to present day Europe and the Americas. Legal education is considered the locus of the formation of professional culture, and in this book Rogelio Pérez-Perdomo contributes to our understanding of its formation by paying attention to how legal knowledge is conceived, the way it is created and transmitted, and the social status of masters, professors, teachers, apprentices and students. He focuses on historical periods and societies that have influenced the current state of legal education. While these are established touchpoints used by historians and supported by a vast bibliographies in English, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese, this book also includes material often overlooked by historians. Ultimately, this concise and accessible history presents a panoramic view that highlights the strengths and weaknesses of approaches to legal education in different societies, and an examination of the shared idea of law manifested in them. This historical and comparative perspective will be useful to comparative legal scholars and legal historians interested in a more informed general approach to improving legal education.

This book was released on 2019-03-11 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes and outlines the theoretical foundations of system simulation in teaching, and as a practical contribution to teaching-and-learning models. It presents various methodologies used in teaching, the goal being to solve real-life problems by creating simulation models and probability distributions that allow correlations to be drawn between a real model and a simulated model. Moreover, the book demonstrates the role of simulation in decision-making processes connected to teaching and learning.
Download or read book The Role of the History of Mathematics in the Teaching Learning Process written by Sixto Romero Sanchez and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-06-15 with total page 464 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents multiple perspectives on the uses of the history of mathematics for teaching and learning, including the value of historical topics in challenging mathematics tasks, for provoking teachers’ reflection on the nature of mathematics, curriculum development questions that mirror earlier pedagogical choices in the history of mathematics education, and the history of technological innovations in the teaching and learning of mathematics. An ethnomathematical perspective on the history of mathematics challenges readers to appreciate the role of mathematics in perpetuating consequences of colonialism. Histories of the textbook and its uses offer interesting insights into how technology has changed the fundamental role of curriculum materials and classroom pedagogies. History is explored as a source for the training of teachers, for good puzzles and problems, and for a broad understanding of mathematics education policy. Third in a series of sourcebooks from the International Commission for the Study and Improvement of Mathematics Teaching, this collection of cutting-edge research, stories from the field, and policy implications is a contemporary and global perspective on current possibilities for the history of mathematics for mathematics education. This latest volume integrates discussions regarding history of mathematics, history of mathematics education and history of technology for education that have taken place at the Commission's recent annual conferences.

Download or read book The Nation Europe and the World written by Hanna Schissler and published by Berghahn Books. This book was released on 2005 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Textbooks in history, geography and the social sciences provide important insights into the ways in which nation-states project themselves. Based on case studies of France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Greece, Turkey Bulgaria, Russia, and the United States, this volume shows the role that concepts of space and time play in the narration of 'our country' and the wider world in which it is located. It explores ways in which in western European countries the nation is reinterpreted through European lenses to replace national approaches in the writing of history. On the other hand, in an effort to overcome Eurocentric views,'world history' has gained prominence in the United States. Yet again, East European countries, coming recently out of a transnational political union, have their own issues with the concept of nation to contend with. These recent developments in the field of textbooks and curricula open up new and fascinating perspectives on the changing patterns of the re-positioning process of nation-states in West as well as Eastern Europe and the United States in an age of growing importance of transnational organizations and globalization.
