Download or read book Initier le changement vers une soci t durable d finition d un nouveau mod le soci tal written by Rémi Rousseau and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Les nouveaux modes de vie durables written by Dominique Bourg and published by . This book was released on 2016-01-13 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Le d veloppement durable

Download or read book Le d veloppement durable written by Julien Rivals and published by Editions Eyrolles. This book was released on 2005 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Social Practices Intervention and Sustainability

Download or read book Social Practices Intervention and Sustainability written by Yolande Strengers and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A key criticism levelled at social practice theorists is their seeming inability or reluctance to inform strategies and policies that seek to intervene in the trajectories of practices to address 'real-world' policy problems. In addressing this gap, the contributors in this ground-breaking edited collection take theories of social practice into new territory, seeking to identify opportunities to disrupt, reorient or otherwise redirect social practices in more sustainable directions. Drawing on findings from applied research projects and new theoretical developments, this book examines intersections between practice theories and attempts to govern, steer, or transform social life through policies and programs aimed at improving sustainability outcomes. In doing so, it addresses critical questions such as whether it is indeed possible to intervene in, or govern, social practices, and if so, what this might involve. In focusing on these tantalising prospects, the book draws attention to issues commonly overlooked in behavioural studies, such as large-scale material and infrastructural arrangements and the ways in which practices that move around the globe are resurrected in or rejected from new locales. A range of pressing global environmental policy problems are explored in the collection, such as climate change, drought, and peak electricity demand. These issues are explored through a range of specific case studies from Australia, the UK and the US, providing theoretical insights that are of international relevance. This book is of great interest to consumption and sustainability scholars and students interested in achieving social change. It crosses a diverse range of disciplines, including sociology, philosophy, science and technology studies, geography, politics and policy studies. It is also of interest to the behavioural sciences, particularly psychologists, as an alternative approach to social change.

Book Le d veloppement durable comme mutation in luctable vers un capitalisme responsable

Download or read book Le d veloppement durable comme mutation in luctable vers un capitalisme responsable written by Christophe Lebarbier and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 561 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book The Learning Garden written by Veronica Gaylie and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2009 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book tells the story of building a campus «learning garden» over a series of cohorts of student teachers and environmental education students. The project began with high ideals, no funding, and a strong desire to do something about the environment: the result was a transformation in attitude toward nature, community and toward the learning process itself. Examining the process through three key metaphors - garden as environment, garden as community, garden as transformation - this book provides a bridge between theory and practice for ecology-centered teaching and learning.

Book Labour Rights as Human Rights

Download or read book Labour Rights as Human Rights written by Philip Alston and published by Collected Courses of the Acade. This book was released on 2005 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Are efforts to protect workers' rights compatible with the forces of globalization? How can minimum standards designed to protect labour rights be implemented in a world in which national labour law is more and more at the mercy of international forces beyond its control? And does it makeany difference if we see rights such as the right to freedom of association, to non-discrimination in the workplace, to freedom from child labour, and to safe and healthy working conditions in terms of international human rights law? Or are they more appropriately seen as 'principles' to bepromoted as and where appropriate? The contributors to this volume argue that international agreements and institutions are of central importance if labour rights are to be protected in a globalized economy. But the report cards they give to the World Trade Organization, the European Union, NAFTA, and the Free Trade Agreement of theAmericas are generally very critical. While there is a strong rhetorical commitment to labour rights, at least on the part of the US and the EU, the substance of what has been achieved to date is hardly impressive. The role of the International Labour Organization is central and the authorsexplore some of the options that are open to governments, civil society, and the labour movement in the years ahead.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Higher Education Leadership and Management have become increasingly important throughout the years due to the complexities that have to be addressed by universities worldwide. This can be seen not only in professionalisation in fields such as faculty management or in areas of quality assurance and internationalisation, but also in the need for exchange and training in academic leadership, such as that of deans or study deans, or of university leadership in general. The Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies (DIES) is addressing this need in emerging countries by building platforms of exchange and offering training courses. Not only is the programme supporting capacity building of human resources, but it is also specifically focusing on inducing change within the universities, such as introducing new instruments or tools in the area of quality assurance and internationalisation, and addressing specific challenges or setting up new structures in the form of projects in the frame of the training. The ‘National Multiplication Trainings’ Programme under DIES is further addressing the sustainability and multiplication of the DIES Programme, that is, alumni are enabled to implement capacity building in higher education leadership and management in their national context. The articles within this volume of the “Potsdamer Beiträge zur Hochschulforschung” (Potsdam Contributions to Higher Education Research) analyse and share the experiences of such training programmes held in Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea, Malaysia, Kenya, and Uganda. They all revolve around the best ways to address the needs and challenges in higher education leadership and management, and in building capacities in these areas.
