Book Practice Notes on Planning Law

Download or read book Practice Notes on Planning Law written by Clive Brand and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-03-04 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides valuable guidance and insight into the key features of the town and country planning system and the process of obtaining planning permission for development of land. The text is essentially procedural in nature since it focuses on the making of planning applications and the use of appeal procedures. It also explains how to deal with enforcement problems where a breach of planning control takes place. In this fourth edition, the opportunity has been taken to provide more information on the key topics. In addition to updating and expanding the legal materials and official publications, it also includes useful practical tips on how to operate the planning system successfully. Much has changed to the content of the subject since the last edition. New materials focus on the revised planning appeal procedures implmented by the Town and Country Planning (Appeals) (Written Representations Procedure) (England) Regulations 2000, the Town and Country (Hearings Procedure) (England) Rules 2000, the Town and Country Planning (Inquiries Procedure) (England) Rules 2000 and the Town and Country Planning Appeals (Determination by Inspectors) (Inquiries Procedure) (England) Rules 2000. Appropriate references are made to DETR Circular 05/2000 - Planning Appeals Procedures.

Book Planning the Night time City

Download or read book Planning the Night time City written by Marion Roberts and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-11-12 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The night-time economy represents a particular challenge for planners and town centre managers. In the context of liberalised licensing and a growing culture around the '24-hour city', the desire to foster economic growth and to achieve urban regeneration has been set on a collision course with the need to maintain social order. Roberts and Eldridge draw on extensive case study research, undertaken in the UK and internationally, to explain how changing approaches to evening and night-time activities have been conceptualised in planning practice. The first to synthesise recent debates on law, health, planning and policy, this research considers how these dialogues impact upon the design, management, development and the experience of the night-time city. This is incisive and highly topical reading for postgraduates, academics and reflective practitioners in Planning, Urban Design and Urban Regeneration.

Book Challenges for Governance Structures in Urban and Regional Development Fragen zur Steuerung von Stadt Land und Regionalentwicklung

Download or read book Challenges for Governance Structures in Urban and Regional Development Fragen zur Steuerung von Stadt Land und Regionalentwicklung written by Erwin Hepperle and published by vdf Hochschulverlag AG. This book was released on 2015-02-03 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The governance structures in urban and regional development have undergone processes of transformation since the medieval period, resulting in them becoming increasingly decentralised, diversified, and centred about "middle-class values". An essential part was played by the initial concepts of land ownership and planned land use. These were then complemented by additional items from land taxation to the concepts that began to evolve during the 20th century, including diverse elements such as land economics and social responsibility. This volume concentrates on a diverse range of topics centering on the relationships between governance and the organization of entities within both urban and rural areas. The essays indicate that the development of systems of governance runs parallel to and reflects the indelible print humankind has made upon all forms of landscape. Over time various forms of governance evolved, but in the course of the last century they also became more accountable. Together this resulted in a continual process of evolving boundaries and territories, of political changes, and of the subsequent divisions between urban and rural areas as well as urban subdivisions. In addition to this complex mixture of land and spatial planning issues, we are faced today with rapidly changing demographic profiles across all of Europe – and not the least with the emerging awareness of how social responsibilities impact this issue. Even though this volume cannot provide all the answers to the many complex problems, together the essays present a stimulating, interdisciplinary approach that challenges conventional thoughts in European land and spatial planning.

Book British Planning Policy in Transition

Download or read book British Planning Policy in Transition written by Mark Tewdwr-Jones and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2003-09-02 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First Published in 1995. This book aims to consider the statutory planning policy system in Britain at the present time (1995) and predominantly takes as a starting point the development of the current processes in the period since 1989–90. The choice of time period for the study is deliberate and has been governed by two main issues. First, it coincides with the publication in 1989 of a government White Paper on the future of development plans. This paper had immense implications for the statutory planning system and effectively precipitated a new era for the future framework of planning policy. Secondly, 1990 marks the end of Margaret Thatcher’s period as Prime Minister and, since we are discussing British planning policy within the context of changing political climates, it is appropriate to assess the statutory planning process under John Major’s administration. The resultant essays which have been assembled therefore take the planning policy changes of the last five years as the focus of study and provide a context within which an in-depth analysis of inter-governmental planning relations may occur.
