Book Non Contractual Liability Arising out of Damage Caused to Another

Download or read book Non Contractual Liability Arising out of Damage Caused to Another written by Christian von Bar and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2009-08-17 with total page 1441 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Non-contractual liability arising out of damage caused to another" is one of the three main non-contractual obligations dealt with in the DCFR. The law of non-contractual liability arising out of damage caused to another (in the Common Law known as tort law or the law of torts, but in most other jurisdictions referred to as the law of delict) is the area of law which determines whether one who has suffered a damage can on that account demand reparation (in money or in kind) from another with whom there may be no other legal connection than the causation of damage itself. Besides determining the scope and extent of responsibility for dangers of one's own or another's creation, this field of law serves to protect fundamental rights in the private law domain, that is to say horizontally between citizens inter se. Based on pan-European comparative research which annotates the work, this volume presents model rules on liability. Explanatory comments and illustrations amplify the policy decisions involved. During the drafting process, comparative material from over 25 different EU jurisdictions has been taken into account. The work therefore is not only a presentation of a future model for European rules to come but provides also a fairly detailed indication of the present legal situation in the Member States.

Download or read book Feedback is een cadeautje written by Douglas Stone and published by Maven Publishing. This book was released on 2014-11-27 with total page 371 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Ethics of Care written by Axel Liégeois and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2021-03-10 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When we want to provide good care, we often take the will of care users as our starting point. However, how do we do this for vulnerable people who are highly dependent on care? This book offers a practical and theory-based method for ethical deliberation. It encourages care providers to engage in ethical empowerment, making their own ethically responsible decisions based on values, virtues and dialogue. This method is applied to important social developments that care providers are challenging today, from evolutions around networks and confidentiality, decision-making capacity and informed consent, assertive care and restriction of freedom to euthanasia. The foundation of this method is a relational care ethics, linking everyone who participates in care with the other parties involved. This relationship forms the link between the care user, the next of kin and the care providers. Good care starts from the connection between people. This book will appeal to all professionals in the care sectors, as well as teachers and students of the ethics of care.

Book excerpt: The authors of this incisive study explore the problems of the ongoing digitization of government, such as the creeping loss of data quality, and how citizens and officials must respond to these complications in the coming years. The iGovernment is running full speed on information networks and digitization, but it is also seriously out of step with existing bureaucracies. iGovernment offers an accurate picture of how the digital technologies are shaping modern governments, and also a powerful corrective for the dissonance between technology and organizational management.“This book will be a valuable resource for researchers and scholars seeking to understand the possibilities, dilemmas, and challenges of bringing the Internet and related technologies to center stage in government and public services”—Helen Margetts,University of Oxford

Book Digital Health Technology for Better Aging

Download or read book Digital Health Technology for Better Aging written by Giuseppe Andreoni and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-08-01 with total page 365 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the multidisciplinary approach needed to tackle better aging. Aging populations are one of the 21st century’s biggest challenges. National health systems are forced to adapt in order to provide adequate and affordable care. Innovation, driven by digital technology, is a key to improving quality of life and encouraging healthy living. Well-designed technology keeps people empowered, independent, and mobile; however, despite widespread adoption of ICT in day-to-day life, digital health technologies have yet to catch on. To this end, technology needs to be effective, usable, cheap, and designed to ensure the security of the managed data. In the era of mHealth, mobile technology, and social design, this book describes, in six sections, the collaboration of polytechnic know-how and social science and health sectors in the creation of a system for encouraging people to engage in healthy behavior and achieve a better quality of life.
