Book Social Support at the Workplace Motivation to Transfer and Training Transfer

Download or read book Social Support at the Workplace Motivation to Transfer and Training Transfer written by Ann-Christine Massenberg and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Supervisor support, peer support and transfer motivation have been identified as important predictors of training transfer. Transfer motivation is thought to mediate the support-training transfer relationship. Especially after team training interventions that include all team members (i.e. whole-team training), individual perception of these factors might be shared among team members. However, an integration of the team level in the training transfer process is rare, yet still needed. Analyzing 194 employees from 34 teams in the context of whole-team training interventions, we found similar relationships and processes at both levels of analysis: social support enhances transfer motivation at the individual and team levels. Furthermore, motivation to transfer increases training transfer and serves as a connecting mechanism in the social support-training transfer link. The results underline the importance of: (1) considering multiple levels in theories and research about the training transfer process; and (2) ensuring the practice of individual-directed support and a shared, supportive climate within teams.

Book The Impact of Support at the Workplace on Transfer of Training

Download or read book The Impact of Support at the Workplace on Transfer of Training written by Ragini Chauhan and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study aims to assess the individual impacts of two components of support at the workplace, namely, support from peers and supervisor, on transfer of training in a post-training environment. Mediation by motivation to transfer in the relationship of supervisor and peer support with transfer of training has also been examined. Data on 149 respondent employees working in a manufacturing unit owned by a leading player in the power transmission business in India has been subject to hierarchical regression analysis. Results confirm the key role of supervisor support in transfer of learned skills. However, the impact of peers on transfer is found to be greater than that of supervisors. The findings prompt us to recommend that peers should be involved in publicizing post-training experiences and benefits. Organizations and supervisors should encourage peers to motivate employees in applying training skills to the job by means of rewards and recognition. Overall the results contribute to a better understanding of support at workplace as a predictor of transfer.

Book The Influence Factors of Training Motivation Peer Support and Supervisory Support that Affect Transfer of Training

Download or read book The Influence Factors of Training Motivation Peer Support and Supervisory Support that Affect Transfer of Training written by and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 87 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The results from studying and examining the predictor of transfer of training from an instructional to a organization environment are presented. Previous and prior research has indicated that transfer of training is a result from organizational contextual (peer support and supervisory support). Organizational contextual (peer support and supervisory support) was introduced as a proximal training outcome and further connected to the distal training outcome, transfer of training (TOT). Analysis with questionnaires revealed that organizational contextual factor such as supervisory support was related to transfer of training. Furthermore, past and present literatures were introduced to further support the nature of proposed model. Descriptive statistic, correlation analysis and regression analysis were used to analyze the data. The descriptive data about the background of respondent were also discussed. Secondly, the stepwise regression analysis was carried out and showed that both supervisory support and peer support mediates the relationship between training motivation and transfer of training. Thirdly, a standard regression concluded that training motivation had a non significant relationship with transfer of training, P=.239 at a significant level of .05. In conclusion, the results showed that both peer support and supervisory support plays an important mediating role of the relationship between training motivation and transfer of training,. Some suggestion was proposed for the organization and researchers to help nurture the preparation for high quality and competent HR managers. Based on this study, it would lead to the enhancement of a trainees{u2019} skill and knowledge transfer in private organization.

The book consists of two main sections: 'Deans: Their Campuses and Colleges' and 'Dimensions: Duties and Challenges.' The first section describes the deanship in general, the national study in particular, and the background of current academic deans. It then gives a profile of deans: who they are and where they work. The second section of the book discusses the position of dean itself. This section looks at academic leadership in general and, more specifically, at what deans in this study believe were their primary roles and responsibilities, where role ambiguity and conflict came into play, and how they characterized stress and its relationship to job satisfaction. In addition, this section has a separate segment devoted to gender-related issues and a final chapter that highlights the most pressing challenges deans see in the near future.
