Book excerpt: * What To Expect and How To Use This Book *By reading this book, you're going to learn how to be a more influential leader and communicator. As you immerse yourself in the coming chapters, keep in mind that what you're about to learn serves a dual purpose:1. You're going to learn concepts, perspectives, and strategies that you can apply to your business, today; and2. It's chock full of stories, imagery, anecdotes, provocative questions, case studies, and opportunities to pause, reflect, and learn. This will make the ideas and concepts tangible... to make the learning stick... to become part of your "muscle memory" so you can use it again and again.Heads up!As you're already well aware, no amount of reading or memorizing will make you successful. It is the understanding and application of knowledge and wisdom which makes it all happen. So I invite you take some time to really be here and be present. Shut the door, put the phone in airplane mode, and get comfy. Have a notebook handy, get some sticky notes, write in the margins, share your thoughts on the occasional "Your Thoughts Here" pages, and dictate your thoughts into your phone...... as I tell you a little story... ... about Influence With A Heart(tm).

But for many years, engagement has been suffering. Gallop reports that seventy percent of employees are not fully engaged on the job. Book An Incorruptible Heart

    Book Details:
  • Author : David McCracken
  • Publisher : David McCracken Ministries
  • Release : 2011-09-01
  • ISBN : 0987131435
  • Pages : 192 pages

Download or read book An Incorruptible Heart written by David McCracken and published by David McCracken Ministries. This book was released on 2011-09-01 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: More than ever before, the Body of Christ needs a generation of godly leaders who can have influence without losing their integrity. God is searching for those in whom He can safely entrust the authority of His kingdom and the mantle of leadership. In this book, David McCracken gives leaders the spiritual understanding and practical outworking to carry the level of authority and power that God desires to flow through them. An Incorruptible Heart gives prophetic and apostolic insight into the deeper heart issues of integrity, purity of motivation, intimacy with God, accountability, servanthood, spiritual fatherhood and much more. If you want to finish well with greatness of character, this book will empower your future success for God’s glory. 'An Incorruptible Heart’ is deeply challenging. It is written out of the depths of experiences of life, ministry and significant Biblical understanding. It’s uncomfortable to have the mirror turned on you as it is read. However, one feels inward renewal as one surrenders to the truth. In a fast moving Christian sub-culture it is worth making a priority read. IAN GREEN, NEXT LEVEL INTERNATIONAL, ENGLAND With so much tragic failure in Christian ministries and leadership today, how must we face the new millennium? David McCracken has done us all a great service in analysing and compiling the great themes of faithful leadership; servant hearts, yielded expectations, accountability and intimacy with Christ; utterly necessary principles for us to honor the Lord in the great decade of harvest before us. My Dad (a champion cyclist) once said to me: “Son, it’s not how you begin the race; it’s how you finish that counts.” David’s book will help you cross that line a winner! WINKIE PRATNEY, International Speaker and Author, USA David McCracken’s excellent book reminds us of the power of an incorruptible heart. I often say, “don’t trust a leader who doesn’t limp.” Meaning... people who have gone through the fires of trials, pressures, crisis, pain, and disappointment, yet have decided to trust God and be people of integrity with a sweet spirit. Those who limp have been there and have come out better. I listen to these people and learn. David is one of those people. His book is full of transparency, vulnerability, and wisdom arising from the pressures of ministry and life. Throughout his writing he brings hope, inspiration, and faith to us who are looking for positive examples. He reminds us of the critical truth that we must protect our heart from bitterness, walk the road of integrity, and keep tender to the things of God and to the needs of people. DR WAYNE GOODALL, WORLDWIDE FAMILY, USA It is easy to see that this book has been forged from the decades of ministry experienced by David, starting where we all start: young, zealous and naive to developing into very senior mature leadership. David’s heart, his life, his experience, his blood sweat and tears are spilled onto these pages. What a book for Senior Pastors to keep us on the “straight and narrow” in order to achieve what we all set out for. What a book for existing leadership to keep the hearts right and save the “body” from the heartaches of the past. What a book for emerging leadership to forewarn them of the pitfalls that can await them. What a book for the body of Christ at large to help the saints, both young and old, to grow into the full measure and stature of Christ. PETER MORTLOCK, SENIOR PASTOR CITY IMPACT CHURCHES, NZ

Book The Power of Clan

Book excerpt: Medical sociologists have long recognized the importance of community and family structure in the health of individuals. However, the past quarter century in America has seen an increasing emphasis on individualism and materialism that has effectively diminished the cohesiveness and emotional support provided by these basic social units. The Power of Clan examines the health effects of social change in a largely Italian-American town over a twenty-five-year period and provides substantial evidence of the protective effect of family bonds and shared social values against coronary heart disease and sudden death. The unique feature of the Roseto, Pennsylvania community was its remarkably low death rate from heart attacks, this in spite of the fact that such risk factors as smoking, lack of exercise, high fat and cholesterol diet were found to be just as prevalent in Roseto as in four nearby control towns. Roseto's traditional, family-oriented social structure, however, differed vastly from that of neighboring towns where materialistic values were predominant and where the individual, rather than the family, was considered to be the unit of society. At the beginning of their study in the early 1960s, the authors noted indications of imminent social change toward a more Americanized system of values and behavior. Interviews with younger inhabitants revealed much respect for old-world traditions but not as much enthusiasm for living by them. The study's prediction that the abandonment of selfless, communal standards would undermine Rosetans relative immunity to heart disease was borne out as death rates from heart attack climbed to levels comparable to those of the control towns by 1975. The Power of Clan is the product of twenty-five years of continuous observation. The findings of its original study have been carefully examined and its predictions largely confirmed. It is a landmark volume in the longitudinal study of health in an advanced industrial society. It also constitutes a large step forward in the cooperation of medical and sociological researchers.

Book The Heart of Leadership

Download or read book The Heart of Leadership written by Mark Miller and published by Berrett-Koehler Publishers. This book was released on 2013-10-07 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Are you the type of leader people want to follow? You can be—but first, you've got to understand what sets great leaders apart from all the rest. Certainly, leaders need people skills, execution skills, a deep knowledge of industry trends, the ability to articulate a vision, and more—they must be competent—but that's just the tip of the iceberg. What's below the waterline? What's deep inside the best leaders that makes them different? Mark Miller contends it is their leadership character. In his latest enlightening and entertaining business fable, he describes the five unique character traits exhibited by exceptional leaders and how to cultivate them. The Heart of Leadership begins with young and ambitious Blake Brown being passed over for a desperately wanted promotion, despite an outstanding individual performance. Confused and frustrated, he turns to his former mentor, Debbie Brewster. Rather than attempting to solve Blake's problem for him, she sends him on a quest to meet with five of his late father's colleagues, each of whom holds a piece of the puzzle he's trying to solve. As Blake puts the pieces together, he discovers that in the final analysis, a lack of skills isn't what holds most leaders back; skills are too easy to learn. Without demonstrated leadership character, however, a skill set will never be enough. Most often, when leaders fail to reach their full potential, it is an issue of the heart. This is Blake's ultimate revelation. This book shows us that leadership needn't be the purview of the few—it is within reach for millions around the world. The Heart of Leadership is a road map for every person who desires to make a difference in the lives of others and become a leader people want to follow.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As Christians, we know that we are new creations in Jesus. So we try to act differently, hoping this will make us more like Him. But changing our outward behavior doesn’t change our hearts. Only by God’s grace can we be transformed internally. Renovation of the Heart lays a biblical foundation for understanding what best-selling author Dallas Willard calls the “transformation of the spirit”—a divine process that “brings every element in our being, working from inside out, into harmony with the will of God.” This fresh approach to spiritual growth explains the biblical reasons why Christians need to undergo change in six aspects of life: thought, feeling, will, body, social context, and soul. Willard also outlines a general pattern of transformation in each area, not as a sterile formula but as a practical process that you can follow without the guilt or perfectionism so many Christians wrestle with. Don’t settle for complacency. Accept the challenge Renovation of the Heart offers to become an intentional apprentice of Jesus Christ, changing daily as you walk with Him.

Book Grace

    Book Details:
  • Author : Carolyn Ann Bardsley
  • Publisher : Createspace Independent Publishing Platform
  • Release : 2016-10-01
  • ISBN : 9781536944976
  • Pages : 196 pages

Download or read book Grace written by Carolyn Ann Bardsley and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2016-10-01 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Grace, as it is commonly understood, is God's unmerited favor. This definition of grace is impoverished because it makes grace a characteristic of God rather than the presence of His Spirit within our heart. It is from our heart that we are to listen and follow Him. Grace is God's divine influence upon our heart and His expression in and through us. Living in grace shifts us from trying to live beliefs in our mind to believing in our heart where our Lord and Savior resides. Jesus demonstrated how to live in grace. He repeatedly emphasized that He said and did nothing but what Father God did in and through Him. We are to live as Jesus did by receiving and surrendering to God's Spirit within our heart. We are to listen and heed His voice and promptings from within. This book explains how to live in grace and develop an intimate relationship with God our Father through His Spirit residing in our heart. Jesus made it possible for us to come out from under the law and live in grace. This is the abundant life Jesus won for us. Trying to obey written words from Scripture can become laws we try to keep and cause us to deny Christ-God's Spirit-within us. Without understanding grace, Scriptures can seem to conflict with one another such as "a man is justified by faith apart from works of the law" (Romans 3:28) and "a man is justified by works and not by faith alone" (James 2:24). Without understanding grace, Scripture can seem condemning and impossible to live such as "He who commits sin is of the devil" (1 John 3:8) and "No one born of God commits sin; for God's nature abides in him and he cannot sin because he is born of God" (1 John 3:9). Early Christians understood the importance of grace. Their epistles in the New Testament start and end with the word grace. This book is a comprehensive Biblical study of grace with over 300 Scriptures interspersed with the author's discussion about the importance of living in grace. The author wanted to make sure that her new understanding of grace agreed with what Scripture says about Christ and what it means to be a believer. A sequel to this book, Living In Grace, is the author's testimony of how she lives in grace and the significant difference it has made in her life. This book is written for those who have submitted their life to Christ, yet have not entered the freedom and victory of living in grace that Jesus made possible for us. The purpose of this book is to increase your understanding of: How to come out from under the burden and bondages of trying to live by Scripture beliefs and laws and enter into the freedom and victory of living in grace by believing in Christ-God's Spirit-within your heart. How to have faith in a Living God rather than just having knowledge about God from the Bible. How to have a faith based on the Spirit of Truth in your heart rather than knowledge in your mind. How to hear God speak with you and develop a love relationship with your Lord and Savior.

Book Transfluence

Download or read book Transfluence written by Walt Rakowich and published by Post Hill Press. This book was released on 2020-09-29 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Walt Rakowich brings a real-world perspective to leadership that’s based on experience, not just theory. Walt was CEO of Prologis, the world’s largest owner of industrial warehouses and a critical partner to companies distributing products throughout the global supply chain. The company was near bankruptcy when Walt took over at the height of the Great Recession. While leading Prologis back to prominence, and in the years since, Walt realized leaders today must lean into timeless values and principles, but with a fresh perspective on the new realities of our leadership climates. The modern leadership environment exists at the convergence of three distinct and dynamic climates: the climates of access, diversity, and acceleration. On their own or in the aggregate, these climates produce significant opportunities and tensions that will challenge leaders for generations. With a fundamental understanding of these climates, leaders develop a selfless approach that withstands the toughest storms. Transfluence shows leaders how they can have transformative influence by overcoming their fears and pride, building transparency into their leadership, developing a strong core of authentic values, and passionately pursuing a meaningful purpose. When leaders do this, they seize opportunities, embrace challenges, and make their organizations and communities greater than ever.
