Book excerpt: Infernal12 is set up in an imaginary future. This novel will capture the reader from the first pages. How can we cope with AI? Are we ready to embark on a journey without returning as Humans? Rei, the protagonist, tries to do this from the very beginning. But is she real? Where is the threshold? A dive into a hypothetical future set in an Asian-flavoured world reminiscent of past cybernetics cult movies and literature with a strong contamination reflecting current social media trends and the chaotic environment of nowadays dystopian world. Daniil Kovalenko was born in Ukraine in 2005. He started writing at the age of 8. He studied in Poland, where he faced the difficulties of emigration without knowing the language. After studying in Poland, he returned to Ukraine and went to school in Kyiv, but not for long, as shortly before he turned 17, he woke up to a ballistic missile explosion near his house, which eventually forced him to leave his country again and move to Germany, where he currently lives.

But the further we move from the late medieval world of Dante, the more a rich understanding and enjoyment of the poem depends on knowledgeable guidance. Robert Hollander, a renowned scholar and master teacher of Dante, and Jean Hollander, an accomplished poet, have written a beautifully accurate and clear verse translation of the first volume of Dante’s epic poem, the Divine Comedy. Featuring the original Italian text opposite the translation, this edition also offers an extensive and accessible introduction and generous commentaries that draw on centuries of scholarship as well as Robert Hollander’s own decades of teaching and research. Book The Love That Moves the Sun and Other Stars

Download or read book The Love That Moves the Sun and Other Stars written by David Russell Mosley and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2023-08-03 with total page 123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dante’s Divine Comedy has long enchanted its readers with its gruesome depictions of sordid sin, the lengths we go to find cleansing, and the hope of eternal life. In this book, Mosley seeks to respond to Dante’s great poem with poetry of his own. For each of the one hundred cantos, Mosley has provided a ten-line poem written in terza rima, the rhyme scheme of Dante’s epic. These poems are intended both to stand on their own and serve as a reflection on the Divine Comedy. Readers unfamiliar with the source text will be inspired to pick it up. Longtime readers of Dante’s journey through the afterlife will find familiar themes presented in a new way.

Book British Romanticism and the Archive

Download or read book British Romanticism and the Archive written by David Kerler and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2022-06-06 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Taking its cue from Jacques Derrida’s concept of le mal d’archive, this study explores the interrelations between the experience of loss, melancholia, archives and their (self-)destructive tendencies, surfacing in different forms of spectrality, in selected poetry of British Romanticism. It argues that the British Romantics were highly influenced by the period’s archival fever – manifesting itself in various historical, material, technological and cultural aspects – and (implicitly) reflected and engaged with these discourses and materialities/medialities in their works. This is scrutinized by focusing on two basal, closely related facets: the subject’s feverish desire to archive and the archive’s (self-)destructive tendencies, which may also surface in an ambivalent, melancholic relishing in the archived object’s presence within its absence. Through this new theoretical perspective, details and coherence previously gone unnoticed shall be laid bare, ultimately contributing to a new and more profound understanding of British Romanticism(s). It will be shown that the various discursive and material manifestations of archives and archival practices not only echo the period’s technological-cultural and historical developments along with its incisive experiencing of loss, but also fundamentally determine Romantic subjectivity and aesthetics.
