Book True Love Knows No Boundaries

Download or read book True Love Knows No Boundaries written by Dennis Corrigan and published by . This book was released on 2015-05-01 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who lives in the mind of Dennis Corrigan? The Midnight Worm, Pointing George, Father Kurowski, Filthy Andy, a Weird Walkin' Stalker, Mrs. Mussman, A Revolting Rabbit Family.... From the artist: "Most of these drawings were created during the summer and fall of 2014, with me curled into a couch corner in a semi-fetal position, armed with mechanical pencils, kneaded erasers, and a few tech pens. I was kind of burnt out on art in general, but had to keep making at least something. The results were a return to a kind of minimalist line drawing style, with an emphasis on humor, composition, and lunacy. I'm happy to say that when viewing the drawings contained in this collection, far removed from the time of their creation, that I really like them. And I hope that they will provide a small mother lode of laughter for a wide range of viewers."

Download or read book Inexplicably Me written by Chelsea Austin Montgomery-Duban Wächter and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2022-05-03 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A hilariously moving and inspirational memoir of a girl with two gay dads, navigating her way through life with joy, love, gratitude, and an excellent sense of humor. As the daughter of two gay fathers in the 90s, Chelsea has always had a different outlook than some people. And yet, her message is one of universal importance – love is the most important force in the world. Through her moving and at times hilarious memoir, Chelsea reflects on how we are all much more similar than we are different. Living “two doors down from normal,” Chelsea quickly learned that society loves to put people in boxes, but these boxes do not always reflect how we feel about ourselves. Through Inexplicably Me, Chelsea works to bring people together in love and acceptance and to illustrate that, while her story may seem worlds away from others, we all strive for happiness and love. From sharing the stage with President Obama when she was only eighteen years old, to her father spending her senior year of college in federal prison camp, to her biological mother dying of cancer when she was only 56, Chelsea explores her painful and joyful experiences with the hope that readers will find inspiration to face their own challenges and embrace their own joys. Inexplicably Me is a bridge for those who fear what they don’t understand, as well as a possibility for those who have lacked love in their lives to see how they can start to access their self-worth, begin achieving their dreams, and start loving themselves again. Most of all, it is a reminder that everyone will have an opinion about who you are supposed to be, but you, and only you, get to decide exactly who it is you want to be.

Book Uses of Comparative Mythology

Download or read book Uses of Comparative Mythology written by Kenneth L. Golden and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-04-14 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection, first published in 1992, offers critical-interpretive essays on various aspects of the work of Joseph Campbell (1904-1987), one of a very few international experts on myth. Joseph Campbell examines myths and mythologies from a comparative point of view, and he stresses those similarities among myths the world over as they suggest an existing, transcendent unity of all humankind. His interpretations foster an openness, even a generous appreciation of, all myths; and he attempts to generate a broad, sympathetic understanding of the role of these 'stories' in human history, in our present-day lives, and in the possibilities of our future.

Book Five Pillars of the Spiritual Life

Download or read book Five Pillars of the Spiritual Life written by Robert Spitzer and published by Ignatius Press. This book was released on 2009-09-03 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Saint Ignatius Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits, espoused the ideal of becoming "contemplatives in action." He was convinced that contemplation (the deep awareness and appropriation of the unconditional love of God) should affect our actions, and that our actions need to be brought back to contemplation. These five dimensions of the spiritual life: (1) the Holy Eucharist, (2) spontaneous prayer, (3) the Beatitudes, (4) partnership with the Holy Spirit, and (5) the contemplative life itself, generally do not develop simultaneously or even in parallel ways. Some develop very quickly, but do not achieve significant depth; while others develop quite slowly, but seem to be almost unending in the depth of wisdom, trust, hope, virtue, and love they engender. The best way of explaining this is to look at each of the pillars individually. Before doing this, however, it is indispensable for each of us to acknowledge (at least intellectually) the fundamental basis for Christian contemplation, namely, the unconditional Love of God. Jesus taught us to address God as Abba. If God really is Abba; if His love is like the father of the prodigal son; if Jesus' passion and Eucharist are confirmations of that unconditional Love; if God really did so love the world that He sent His only begotten Son into the world not to condemn us, but to save us and bring us to eternal life (Jn 3:16-19); if nothing really can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus (Rm 8:31-39); and if God really has prepared us "to grasp fully, with all the holy ones, the breadth and length and height and depth of Christ's love, and experience this love which surpasses all understanding, so that we may attain to the fullness of God Himself" (Eph 3:18-20), then God's love is unconditional, and it is, therefore, the foundation for unconditional trust and unconditional hope. There can be nothing more important than contemplating, affirming, appropriating, and living in this Unconditional Love. This is the purpose of contemplation; indeed, the purpose of the spiritual life itself.

Book excerpt: In a city where the echoes of the past whispered through every alley and hidden corner, three souls found themselves entangled in a story woven by the fires of passion and the shadows of betrayal. Little did they know that their destinies were eternally bound, and the choices they made would set in motion a journey of redemption that transcended the boundaries of time. The studio, perched atop the bustling city, served as a witness to their unfolding drama. It was a place where art became the silent confidant, capturing the hues of love, turmoil, and transformation on its canvases. In this sanctuary, Sita, a passionate artist; kiran, a man with a mysterious past; and poorni, a figure veiled in enigma, will confront the complexities of their interconnected hearts. As the trio navigated the intricacies of their shared history, the canvas became a mirror reflecting the dance of emotions that unfolded within them. The bonfire in the hidden garden, a symbol of both destruction and renewal, marked the stages of their journey—each flame a testament to the fires of passion that threatened to consume and the redemptive embrace that offered a chance at healing. In the whispers of destiny, they discovered a path that led beyond the shadows of betrayal. The phoenix, with its wings outstretched, emerged as a symbol of their collective resilience—a beacon guiding them through the challenges that lay ahead. As the trio stood at the precipice of a new chapter, the city lights below mirrored the infinite possibilities that awaited. This is the prologue of their story, where embers of a forgotten tale come alive, and the fires of passion set the stage for a journey that will unravel the intricacies of love, betrayal, and the eternal bonds that transcend the boundaries of time. Little did they know that their destinies were intertwined in ways they could never have imagined, and the echoes of their shared history would resonate through the pages of a tale yet to be written.
