Book Inductive Measurement of Plasma Jet Electrical Conductivity

Download or read book Inductive Measurement of Plasma Jet Electrical Conductivity written by M. W. Turner and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Measurement of plasma jet electrical conductivity has utility in the development of explosively driven magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) energy converters as well as magnetic flux compression reaction chambers for nuclear/chemical pulse propulsion and power. Within these types of reactors, the physical parameter of critical importance to underlying MHD processes is the magnetic Reynolds number, the value of which depends upon the product of plasma electrical conductivity and velocity. Therefore, a thorough understanding of MHD phenomena at high magnetic Reynolds number is essential, and methods are needed for the accurate and reliable measurement of electrical conductivity in high-speed plasma jets. It is well known that direct measurements using electrodes suffer from large surface resistances, and an electrodeless technique is desired.

Book Applied Aspects of Modern Metrology

Download or read book Applied Aspects of Modern Metrology written by Oleh Velychko and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2022-05-11 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the modern era of scientific and technological development, the role of measurements and metrology in scientific research is becoming more and more important due to the increase in the testing of various products. Moreover, requirements for the accuracy and reliability of measurement results are increasing significantly and their ranges are expanding. Improving measurement accuracy allows us to identify the shortcomings of certain technological processes and either eliminate them or reduce their influence. This leads to better-quality products and contributes to saving energy and other resources, as well as raw materials and materials. This book discusses relevant aspects of practical metrological activity to establish traceability of measurements while increasing their accuracy and reliability. It also presents procedures for the calibration and testing of measuring instruments.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Sumerians were not the only ones to create remarkably accurate standards of measurement in the Ancient world. Some would travel to the ends of the Earth, some would be with us still today. Roland A. Boucher, a licensed professional engineer, examines incredible achievements of the past in this book that highlights standards of measure from the ancient Sumerians, Egyptians, Minoans, and others. The Sumerians left two wonderful monuments which demonstrate their system of measurement. The Great Pyramid at Giza, which was built to Sumerian standards with an error of only 185 parts per million; and The Parthenon, in Athens, built 2000 years later to the same Sumerian standard. Filled with tables, formulas, and images to promote the understanding of the mathematical concepts involved, this book celebrates the achievements of the Sumerians and other ancient civilizations. Embark on a journey of discovery as the author recreates eight additional standards from the distant past.
