Book Indian Erysiphaceae

Download or read book Indian Erysiphaceae written by Y.S. Paul and published by Scientific Publishers. This book was released on 2006-05-01 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Indian Erysiphaceae' is a monographic work on the powdery mildew fungi based on the teliomorphic stage collected on 86 different host species from various agroecological zones of Himachal Pradesh. So far, 22 genera and about 300 species of powdery mildew fungi have been described from India, but all is scattered in mycological literature. An attempt has been made to compile all the species reported from India. Each of the genus studied has been included in separate chapter. Besides, host index, fungus index and references, the species described in the present studies and those described from India have been presented in tabular form in the end alongwith the references. Camera lucida drawings and coloured microphotographs have also been provided. This monograph will provide a base for future compilations of the work on Indian Erysiphaceae and will be of great use to the students and researchers not only in India but abroad also.

Book Powdery Mildew Disease of Crucifers Biology Ecology and Disease Management

Download or read book Powdery Mildew Disease of Crucifers Biology Ecology and Disease Management written by Govind Singh Saharan and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-11-22 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Powdery mildew disease is the fourth most widespread disease in cruciferous crops and a devastating effect, causing significant losses in terms of quality and quantity in rapeseed and mustard. Powdery mildews are also a favourable host-pathosystem model for basic research on host–parasite interactions, developmental morphology, cytology, and molecular biology to identify the effector proteins/genes governing different biological functions. This book provides a comprehensive overview of all the published information in the field for researchers, teachers, students, extension experts, industrialists and farmers, and includes illustrations, photographs, graphs, figures, tables, histograms, micrographs, electron micrographs, and flow charts to aid understanding. It also describes standardized reducible techniques. The book discusses each disease in detail, describing the distribution, symptomatology, host range, yield losses and disease assessment, as well as the taxonomy, morphology, phylogeny, variability, sporulation, survival and perpetuation of the pathogen. Further, it explores topics such as spore germination; infection; pathogenesis; disease cycle; epidemiology; forecasting; fine structures; host resistance; biochemical, histological, genetic and molecular aspects such as cloning and mapping of R genes; sources of resistance; disease resistance breeding; and the genetics of host-parasite interactions and disease management.

Book Integrated Plant Disease Management

Download or read book Integrated Plant Disease Management written by R.C. Sharma and published by Scientific Publishers. This book was released on 2011-02-01 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Plant diseases often are the worst natural hazards in agriculture, horticulture and forestry. New diseases and new biotypes of existing disease producing organisms appear from time to time in more virulent forms. The most startling aspect of plant diseases is that their management cost us a huge sum every year with serious consequences in environment and human health. Therefore, integrated disease management practices need to be refined and adopted to reduce the crop losses. In this book, the current status of various aspects of integrated disease management in fruits, vegetable, ornamentals, cereals, pulses, oilseeds, medicinal and forest plants etc. has been analyzed. Major focus is on the integrated disease management in horticultural crops. Emphasis has been given to the use of non-chemical methods like cultural practices, soil solarization, plant growth promoting microorganisms, organic amendments, botanicals and biocontrol agents. It is hoped that the book will serve as an important guide to the plant pathologists, horticulturists, nematologists, microbiologists, mushroom scientists, breeders and students.

Book Methods in Fungal Biology A manual of Laboratory Protocols

Download or read book Methods in Fungal Biology A manual of Laboratory Protocols written by Ajay K. Gautam and published by Scientific Publishers. This book was released on 2019-10-10 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fungi are one of the important components in the biosphere, ubiquitous in nature and essential in recycling of nutrients in all type of habitats. These organisms play key role as decomposers, phytopathogens, symbionts and in elemental cycles. Despite of their important roles in the biosphere, it is important to explore all categories of fungi. This manual is designed to provide detailed information on methods of fungal isolation and identification from various substrates. The book is comprised in three parts where first part contains information about instrumentation, techniques, stains, cultures and reagents; second part describe about fungal isolation and identification while, third part depicts about cryopreservation methods, safety norms and regulations in handling fungal specimens as well as about bibliography. Almost all the techniques used in isolation and identification of fungi from various substrates viz. soil, water, air, indoor environment, plant tissues, plant rhizosphere and stored materials are provided in complete detail. Identification keys of fungi are also covered and complied in this book. This book has complete basic information on experimental mycology which makes it useful for undergraduate, post graduate and beginners in this scientific and interesting field of fungal studies.
