Book The Oxford Handbook of Peaceful Change in International Relations

Download or read book The Oxford Handbook of Peaceful Change in International Relations written by T. V. Paul and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2021 with total page 836 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Abstract: With the rapid rise of China and the relative decline of the United States, the topic of power transition conflicts is back in popular and scholarly attention. The discipline of International Relations offers much on why violent power transition conflicts occur, yet very few substantive treatments exist on why and how peaceful changes happen in world politics. This Handbook is the first comprehensive treatment of the subject of peaceful change in International Relations. It contains some 41 chapters, all written by scholars from different theoretical and conceptual backgrounds examining the multi-faceted dimensions of this subject. In the first part, key conceptual and definitional clarifications are offered and in the second part, papers address the historical origins of peaceful change as an International Relations subject matter during the Inter-War, Cold War, and Post-Cold War eras. In the third part, each of the IR theoretical traditions and paradigms in particular Realism, liberalism, constructivism and critical perspectives and their distinct views on peaceful change are analyzed. In the fourth part papers tackle the key material, ideational and social sources of change. In the fifth part, the papers explore selected great and middle powers and their foreign policy contributions to peaceful change, realizing that many of these states have violent past or tend not to pursue peaceful policies consistently. In part six, the contributors evaluate the peaceful change that occurred in the world's key regions. In the final part, the editors address prospective research agenda and trajectories on this important subject matter. Keywords: Peaceful Change; War; Security; International Relations Theory; Sources of Change; Systemic Theory; Realism; Liberalism; Constructivism; Critical Theories"--

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a world plagued with intolerance for cultural, racial and religious differences, A Message of Peace serves as a panacea to the ills of the society. Prophetic in foresight and universal in scope, this book lays out a path to the peaceful existence of all humans based on the central theme of worshipping the One God. It is not surprising therefore that A Message of Peace forms the last work of a man who was destined to lay the foundation for the establishment of peace in this day and age and whose advent was prophesied in all major religions of the world-the Promised Messiah and Reformer of the Latter Days. "My countrymen!" writes the Promised Messiah, "A religion which does not inculcate universal compassion is no religion at all. Similarly a human being without the faculty of compassion is no human at all."

Book Celebrating the Third Decade and Beyond

Download or read book Celebrating the Third Decade and Beyond written by Prabir De and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-02-02 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ASEAN-India economic integration has made substantial progress in recent years. India’s engagements with Southeast and East Asia have received new momentum under the Act East Policy (AEP). In 2017, ASEAN and India will be celebrating 25 years of their dialogue relations. The relationship is set to deepen in coming days as ASEAN and India step up their collaboration across a range of economic and strategic issues, including trade and connectivity, culture, people-to-people links, trans-national terrorism, and maritime security. However, both of them have been facing several challenges which call for concerted efforts by ASEAN and India. With ASEAN and India working towards establishing a Comprehensive Free Trade Area through Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement, their cooperation will be key in promoting economic stability, competitiveness, growth and integration in the region. This book is a timely initiative to review the past and suggest the ways to further strengthen the economic partnership. It primarily deals with the economic integration issues between ASEAN and India, and assesses policy priorities, effectiveness, implementation imperatives and challenges. Each chapter in this book tries to capture essential features of the crosscutting issues and attempts to draw some policy implications. It will be a valuable reference for policymakers, academics and practitioners. Please note: Taylor & Francis does not sell or distribute the Hardback in India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka

Book Handbook of Ethnic Conflict

Download or read book Handbook of Ethnic Conflict written by Dan Landis and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-02-14 with total page 672 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although group conflict is hardly new, the last decade has seen a proliferation of conflicts engaging intrastate ethnic groups. It is estimated that two-thirds of violent conflicts being fought each year in every part of the globe including North America are ethnic conflicts. Unlike traditional warfare, civilians comprise more than 80 percent of the casualties, and the economic and psychological impact on survivors is often so devastating that some experts believe that ethnic conflict is the most destabilizing force in the post-Cold War world. Although these conflicts also have political, economic, and other causes, the purpose of this volume is to develop a psychological understanding of ethnic warfare. More specifically, Handbook of Ethnopolitical Conflict explores the function of ethnic, religious, and national identities in intergroup conflict. In addition, it features recommendations for policy makers with the intention to reduce or ameliorate the occurrences and consequences of these conflicts worldwide.

Book The Islamic Occupation of India and the Chinese Occupation of Tibet

Download or read book The Islamic Occupation of India and the Chinese Occupation of Tibet written by Krishan Nagar Lahore and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2013-04-29 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There were the days since 0 AD of the occupation of others lands and expansion by the Islamic terrorist armies on the surface of the Earth. For India, it started through Afghanistan in 1000 AD. It lasted many centuries in India, in particular over 10001947 and still continues. It is amazing in 1947 the Islamic occupation of India (Pakistan) was rewarded with the approval of the UNO and the Western democratic countries alike. Since this recent demonstration of the Islamic terrorist might, i.e., the claim of India in 1947, Islam has re-affirmed to the world what it is capable of. It declared its aims in 9/11, 26/11, in the twenty-first century. More and much worse is yet to come. Newly, Islam also boasts of the support of the Communist might (known for violation of the basic human rights), e.g., Russia and China. It looks like the days of the free world, particularly of the divided (religious in 1947 and lingual now) India through insurgency from Islam and the Mongol (Khan)-Communist China are numbered.
