Book Incremental Silviculture Strategy for British Columbia Interim Version 1 0

Download or read book Incremental Silviculture Strategy for British Columbia Interim Version 1 0 written by and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 23 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This strategy document provides guidance to the application of available funds for incremental silviculture activities in British Columbia. It presents a planning framework along with an interim incremental silviculture strategy for Crown forest land under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Forests. The strategy focuses on the use of incremental silviculture activities (defined as any silviculture which is in addition to mandatory silviculture required by law) to enhance the future quantity and quality of timber supply. The document first outlines the various levels of forest planning, overall government goals & strategies, and guiding principles. It then discusses timber supply & demand, the structure of demand, factors affecting demand for British Columbia forest products, the current timber supply situation in the province, and relating supply to demand in British Columbia. Implications for an incremental silviculture strategy are noted, followed by strategies to improve the quantity and quality of future timber supplies. The final sections assess risks of the strategy and discuss immediate and long-term actions & research or development needs.

Book Analysis of Investments in Silviculture in British Columbia

Download or read book Analysis of Investments in Silviculture in British Columbia written by and published by . This book was released on 1989 with total page 53 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This analysis was produced to assess the economic benefits to British Columbia of Forest Resource Development Agreement (FRDA) I. The analysis was carried out for aggregated good & medium western hemlock stands on the coast and aggregated good & medium lodgepole pine stands in the interior. The benefits derived from silvicultural treatments are based on the allowable cut effect, meaning that an immediate increase in today's allowable annual cut can be attributed to expected future increases in yield due to silvicultural operations. Four economic indicators are used to examine the benefits & costs associated with incremental silvicultural activities: gross domestic product, total government revenue, direct government revenue, and employment. Based on a 100-hectare unit, the monetary benefits from these indicators were applied to silviculture activities in the existing FRDA. The appendix contains the assumptions & details of the analysis of benefits from FRDA I.
