Book Inanna s Ascent

Download or read book Inanna s Ascent written by Trista Hendren and published by . This book was released on 2019-08-07 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When we think of Inanna, she is usually envisioned as the descending Goddess--and often, it is her time spent in the Underworld that most alluded to. While the Underworld, or the "shadow" is vital, it is equally important to remember what happens after the time spent in the darkness, the void, or the long dark tunnel. We descend our entire lives it seems--only coming up for brief moments of respite. Patriarchy pushes us down repeatedly--and sometimes, we just stay there. Inanna's Ascent examines how women can rise from the underworld and reclaim their power. All contributors are extraordinary women in their own right, who have been through some difficult life lessons--and are brave enough to share their stories.

Book Christian Mystical Theology

Download or read book Christian Mystical Theology written by Patricia F. Frisch A Married Christian Mystic and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2023-11-17 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christian Mystical Theology: A Way of Life. Mystical theology as a way of life is Bible based. It includes single and married laypeople and the religious who were mystics known throughout centuries up to contemporary times. Mystics are messengers into the Christian and human communities from their divine encounter with Jesus. In chapter 1, "Committed Eros," Patricia writes about her dual marriages--her human marriage to Richard F. Frisch, fifty-three years, and her mystical marriage with Jesus, thirty-five years. "Committed Eros" shows her longing for faithful community development. Part 1 chapters also explain mystical theology, the language of the mystics, references for the enrichment, and in-depth exploration of mystics from the Bible up to contemporary mystics and the development of the Trinity. Part 2 flows from part 1 with examples from the Gospels and the Christian history of committed mystical friendships through the presence of Jesus. A unique understanding of Jesus and his mother's relationship to the incarnation becomes the basis for the following chapters regarding committed mystical, agape friendships. Church leadership, intellectual pursuits, and everyday life are finding balance and harmony. Harmony is rising through the mystics, contemplatives, and ordinary people who enjoy peace through prayerful participation in contemporary mystical theology. The book ends with the hope that everyone finds ways to share their prayer journey with the communities. 1

Download or read book PaGaian Cosmology written by Glenys Livingstone and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2005 with total page 357 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: PaGaian Cosmology brings together a religious practice of seasonal ritual based in a contemporary scientific sense of the cosmos and female imagery for the Sacred. The author situates this original synthesis in her context of being female and white European transplanted to the Southern Hemisphere. Her sense of alienation from her place, which is personal, cultural and cosmic, fires a cosmology that re-stories Goddess metaphor of Virgin-Mother-Crone as a pattern of Creativity, which unfolds the cosmos, manifests in Earth's life, and may be known intimately. PaGaian Cosmology is an ecospirituality grounded in indigenous Western religious celebration of the Earth-Sun annual cycle. By linking to story of the unfolding universe this practice can be deepened, and a sense of the Triple Goddess-central to the cycle and known in ancient cultures-developed as a dynamic innate to all being. The ritual scripts and the process of ritual events presented here, may be a journey into self-knowledge through personal, communal and ecological story: the self to be known is one that is integral with place. PaGaian Cosmology may be used as a resource for individuals or groups seeking new forms of devotional expression and an Earth-based pathway to wisdom within.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christine Irving is ordained in two spiritual traditions . She is a priestess of the Fellowship of Isis, an international spiritual organization devoted to spreading awareness of the Feminine divine, as represented by the ancient Egyptian goddess Isis. Christine has also been ordained into the priesthood of the Gnostic Church of Saint Mary Magdalene. She is a creator and facilitator of ritual, a founding mother of the California Alliance for Women, a Peer Spirit circle guide, and a SoulCollage(R) facilitator. Her passion is storytelling in all its myriad forms and she delights in uncovering the perennial wisdom embedded in the world's myths, folk stories and faerie tales. Poetry is her medium of choice, but stories have their own imperative and sometimes demand a longer telling as in her novel, Magdalene A.D. Return to Inanna is in memory of the Honorable Olivia Robertson fondly known as Lady Olivia, Archpriestess and founding mother of the Fellowship of Isis, who introduced me to Sacred Theater, ordained me as Priestess, and inspired me to study the art of creating ritual.I am honored to follow in your footsteps.

Book Sacred Marriages

Download or read book Sacred Marriages written by Martti Nissinen and published by Penn State Press. This book was released on 2008-06-23 with total page 556 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The title of this volume, Sacred Marriages, consciously plays with the traditional concept of sacred marriage, but the plural form, “sacred marriages,” gives the reader an idea that something more is at stake here than a monomaniacal idea of manifestations deriving from a single prototype. Following the guidelines of one of the contributors, Ruben Zimmermann, the editors tentatively define “sacred marriage” as a “real or symbolic union of two complementary entities, imagined as gendered, in a religious context.” “Sacred marriages” (plural), then, refers to various expressions of this kind of union in different cultures that seek to overcome, to cite Zimmermann again, “the great dualism of human and cosmic existence.” The subtitle indicates that the contributors are primarily interested in different aspects of the divine-human sexual metaphor—that is, the imagining and reenactment of a gendered relationship between the human and divine worlds. This metaphor, which is essentially about relationship rather than sexual acts, can find textual, ritual, mythical, and social expressions in different times and places. Indeed, the sacred marriage ritual itself should be considered not a manifestation of the “sacralized power of sexuality experienced in sexual intercourse” but one way of objectifying the divine-human sexual metaphor.
