Book excerpt: The day I turned nineteen, I expected to gain what little freedom I could within the restrictions of my bank account and the hallucinations that had haunted me for the last six years. I expected to drive away from a life that had been dictated by the tragedy of others and shaped by the care of strangers. I expected to be alone. Actually, I relished the idea of being alone. Instead, I found fear I thought I’d overcome. Uncertainty I thought I’d painstakingly planned away. And terror that was more real than anything I’d ever hallucinated before. I’d seen terrible, fantastical, and utterly impossible things … but not love. Not until I saw him. -------------------- This paranormal romance/urban fantasy is the first book in the Oracle Series by author Meghan Ciana Doidge. Author’s note: The ideal reading order of I See Me (Oracle 1) is between Dowser 3 and 4, but it's not actually necessary to read the Dowser Series before reading the Oracle Series. Download or read book See My Body See Me written by Pamela F. Engelbert and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2024-09-26 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: #MeToo. #ChurchToo. #pentecostalsisterstoo. Since 2018, hashtags and stories of sexual violence have appeared in all sectors of life from Hollywood to the Olympics; from politics to religion; from universities to seminaries; and among pentecostals. But amid all these stories of sexual abuse and assaults, one may wonder if any stories of healing from sexual violence exist. If so, what does healing look like, particularly among pentecostals who believe in divine healing? Is it a single prayer of faith or a conglomeration of healing factors? In true pentecostal form, See My Body, See Me systematically examines the healing stories of eight pentecostal survivors and the experiences of five pentecostal licensed counselors. It then combines these experiences of both males and females with Scripture, theology, psychology, and culture to provide a pentecostal perspective on healing from sexual violence. As a practical theological approach, See My Body, See Me also offers acts of ministry to provide healing spaces by way of three embodied praxes that are historically and theologically pentecostal: listening, waiting, and learning. See My Body, See Me is an invitation to participate in Christ’s healing ministry to see, hear, and believe survivors as God sees, hears, and believes them.

Book excerpt: Lord, Please Don't Let Her See Me Cry is a true story of child abuse so atrocious I have suffered from it for over fifty years, having not only the endure the memory but also being forced to see the scars every time I change my clothes. I only survived because of my faith in God and God's mercy on me. As a child, I promised God that if he would see me through, I would one day pay him back by helping other children in similar situations. I hope this book helps bring the attention of the world to the problem of child abuse so that the abusers may be punished and the abused healed. Please help the children of the world. Book excerpt: A wonderfully witty and fiercely passionate memoir on living with a disability, and how we can redefine what it means to be disabled. ________________________________ 'Jackson's frank, fearless and sometimes hilarious book deserves to be read as widely as possible.' Daily Express 'I am blown away . . . Beautifully written, funny and such an important call to action.' Venetia La Manna 'I loved, loved, loved this book. A profound, heartfelt and eye-opening look into the way people with disabilities are treated, with the power of championing change and inclusion for all.' Charli Howard ____________________________________________ In this heartfelt, thought-provoking and often hilarious book, Lottie Jackson reflects on her experiences of living with disability: from the pitfalls of going shopping on a mobility scooter, and the headache of defining oneself on a tick-box form, to a slapstick scuffle with the so-called 'easy-pull' tights aid, and the intense pleasure of finally swapping a hospital gown for a slinky dress. Lottie captivatingly expresses the raw vulnerabilities, injustices and untold joys of disability, as well as the bizarre everyday occurrences that able-bodied people usually don't experience. Lottie powerfully explores the ways in which we undervalue and underrepresent disabled people in our society, and demonstrates how negative stigmas about 'abnormal' bodies seep into all aspects our lives. In this dazzling debut, Lottie reveals why we must strive for change and redefine what it means to be disabled in every facet of life.

Book excerpt: One of the keys to acquiring a new language is to learn the patterns that make up the language. Simply learning phrases so you can speak "pidgin" Cherokee is not learning Cherokee. You need to learn the fundamentals of the language on how words are put together to be able to understand and communicate in the language. There are many degrees of meaning that different word parts provide and if you don't learn these shades of meaning up front and how they are expressed you will never progress beyond simple memorized phrases and never obtain satisfaction with the language. While each person's skill will differ, one should strive to gain enough understanding of the mechanics of language to be able to comprehend and communicate effectively. The goal of this material is to provide you a solid structural foundation on how Cherokee works. You will learn how words are put together in basic sentences and how to form new words for ideas not listed in the dictionary.
