Book In Vitro My Journey Through the World of IVF

Download or read book In Vitro My Journey Through the World of IVF written by Anastasia Sputnik and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2013-12 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a personal testimony from a patient who underwent 15 In Vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments over a 7 year period. It is a story about male infertility combined with the female's fertility declined with the age, which lead the partners to proceed with In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) as the only option. In today's western world one in every six couples face fertility problems and this story could become a reality for millions of couples in the world. This book is raising awareness about female fertility and reproductivity potential for women after their mid-thirties. It also reveals some of the "hidden truths" and misconceptions about IVF and demystifies information provided by the press and media. A similar book with details of the latest IVF trends, facts and experiences from the patients' perspective has never been published. The first part of the book is a chronicle of the author's experiences as an IVF patient, where she shares medical information, facts, experience and lessons learned during IVF treatments. In the second part of the book the author is offering valuable advice, recommendations, and tools, including tips on how to save money for IVF. This is also a patient's story about the emotional impact of IVF. The book is unique in presenting a serious family and marriage crisis throughout battles with infertility and how the journey through the IVF drastically affected the couple's relationship. It is also a story of a personal life crisis that the female patient was going through. The author describes her own turmoil when she decided to end IVF (IVF closure) after many years of living in the "IVF bubble", when she faced not only the cruel fact that she will never be able to have more children, but also experienced a career failure, financial difficulties and her husband being ready to leave her due to the inability to have a big family together. This book is also a relevant resource for medical practitioners to better understand patients' physical and emotional needs and improve the service in IVF clinics. Quote from the book: "My greatest hope is that reading this book leads to positive outcomes for as many women and couples as possible!"

Download or read book Ivf and Infertility Our Journey written by Verity Craig and published by Chocolate Box Publishing. This book was released on 2017-05-15 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Experiencing infertility is a painful challenge that can overshadow a person's life day in day out. It affects one in six couples. And yet, it is a taboo subject. When Verity Craig and her husband Paul found themselves plunged in to the uncertain world of infertility and IVF, they discovered it to be a world that no one discusses. They couldn't even find any books written by couple's who had actually experienced it themselves. That's when Verity, calling upon her experience as a journalist and magazine editor, decided to keep a diary of events that unfolded on their traumatic journey of trying for a baby in the hope that one day, as a book, it would help rid the taboo shroud that surrounds infertility as a subject and therefore help people that may read it on their emotional journey. If you are experiencing infertility and don't know which way to turn, and are also unsure of what those fertility procedures entail and of what that medical jargon means, then reading this book about a real couples' journey first hand may be just the support and inspiration that you need on your journey. You'll be surprised how normal those emotions and fears you're feeling actually are. "This book should be read by all the team involved in care. It will give them an in-depth understanding of the often very rough seas that the couple have to endure. Verity, a big thank you from me for helping other patients." Mr Michael Dooley, MMS FFSRH FRCOG "I believe that this book has a rich and detailed description of emotional and physical constraints that came with this journey easily described in a natural way without any artificial make up or masks." Mr Raef Faris MSc FRCOG "Making new life is the biggest thing on earth, and yet if we are struggling to do that, we are expected to shy away and not discuss it with anyone. Hopefully this book will change that!" Amanda "If you or someone you know is experiencing infertility, this book is a must read for women or men alike. I should know." Nigel "A story of sheer endurance, courage and determination! This book has helped me persevere my pain with hope." Hillary

Based on her personal experiences with IVF, author Monica Bivas created this journal to help you organize the process, handle stress better, and bring focus and clarity to your personal IVF journey. She created The IVF Planner both as an information guide and for you to write your own story. She touches on everything from the basics of the process to financing to a support network and more. Bivas communicates that the IVF journey, no matter the end result—negative, positive, or even cancelled cycles—takes strength, takes courage, and teaches you to be disciplined. Though expensive and challenging, it’s a journey to be proud of.

Book Biological Relatives

Download or read book Biological Relatives written by Sarah Franklin and published by Duke University Press. This book was released on 2013-11-15 with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thirty-five years after its initial success as a form of technologically assisted human reproduction, and five million miracle babies later, in vitro fertilization (IVF) has become a routine procedure worldwide. In Biological Relatives, Sarah Franklin explores how the normalization of IVF has changed how both technology and biology are understood. Drawing on anthropology, feminist theory, and science studies, Franklin charts the evolution of IVF from an experimental research technique into a global technological platform used for a wide variety of applications, including genetic diagnosis, livestock breeding, cloning, and stem cell research. She contends that despite its ubiquity, IVF remains a highly paradoxical technology that confirms the relative and contingent nature of biology while creating new biological relatives. Using IVF as a lens, Franklin presents a bold and lucid thesis linking technologies of gender and sex to reproductive biomedicine, contemporary bioinnovation, and the future of kinship.
