Book In The Days of These Kings The Book of Daniel in Preterist Perspective

Download or read book In The Days of These Kings The Book of Daniel in Preterist Perspective written by Jay Rogers and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2019-01-17 with total page 742 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever" (Daniel 2:44). The message of Daniel is that Jesus the Messiah is now ruling over the nations. Daniel tells us that Messiah's kingdom will advance in the whole world from "generation to generation" (Daniel 4:4,34). Christ's dominion is "given to the people of the saints of the most High" (Daniel 7:22). Our purpose then is to see "all people, nations, and languages serve and obey him" (Daniel 7:14,27). "This meticulously researched and thorough treatment of Daniel from a preterist perspective includes over 700 pages of commentary, historical background and setting, New Testament allusions, and much more. It is enhanced with charts, tables, maps, illustrations, and topped off with helpful, thorough indexes." - Kenneth L. Gentry, Jr., Th.D.

Book The Prophecy of Daniel in Preterist Perspective

Download or read book The Prophecy of Daniel in Preterist Perspective written by Jay Rogers and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2021-03-19 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The great expositor of Scripture, John Calvin, once exclaimed in exasperation about the numerous speculations on controversial passages in the Book of Daniel, such as the identity of the "Little Horn" of chapter 7. Calvin preached, "They are all wrong." This book provides a preterist view of Daniel that is in harmony with other parallel passages in Scripture, such as Zechariah 14, Matthew 24 and Revelation. Areas of agreement among conservatives are summarized. Special attention is then paid to so-called "hard parts" in which the majority of commentators, in the words of Calvin, are "utterly at sea." From a preterist perspective, each of these (Daniel 2:44,45; 7; 9:26,27; 11:36-45; 12:1-13) deal with the Roman period, the Fourth Kingdom of Daniel 2 and 7 that dominated Judea from 63 BC to AD 70. The preterist view of Daniel as presented by Calvin, and others as early as Clement of Alexandria in AD 180, is the most consistent interpretation. "R.J. Rushdoony once said there are four things liberals hate about Daniel: (1). Daniel displays a sovereign God who cannot be manipulated and who destroys all who rebel against His Law-Word, including civic rulers. (2). It showcases predictive prophecy that is infallible and sure. (3). It illustrates a comprehensive Providence that governs even the tiniest details of life and history. (4). It unapologetically presents the reality of miracles. "You can judge an author by their attitude towards those four things in Daniel. Based on that criteria, Jay Rogers stands head and shoulders above a crowd of commentaries on this book. He takes the inerrancy of Scripture and hermeneutics seriously, submits to the New Testament's interpretation of Daniel, illustrates his interpretations quite well with history, and shows how Daniel dovetails with the rest of Scripture." - Phillip Kayser, Biblical Blueprints

Book excerpt: Milton S. Terry (1840-1914) was an Old Testament and hermeneutics scholar. This work is a preterist commentary on the Apocalypse (i.e., the Book of Revelation), which is the most Old Testament-oriented work in the New Testament. By frequently accessing Revelation's Old Testament backdrop, Terry provides a bull commentary that demonstrates that Revelation is a prophecy focusing on the coming destruction Jewish Temple in AD 70. Though he sees a portion of the last three chapters as touching on the future which was distant from the Apostle John's time, he sees Revelation's main concern as explaining the completion of the old covenant order in the establishing of the new covenant.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All Christians believe that their great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ, will one day return. Should we expect a time of great tribulation or reformation and revivalbefore the Lord returns? How do we approach this inspired prophetic book? In what way do these approaches affect our interpretation of the thousand years of Revelation 20? Is the devil bound now, and are the saints reigning with Christ? These, and many more questions, are dealt with by the four authors in The Four Keys to the Millennium. The editor, Michael Meiring, also makes an analysis of the four essays, identifying the strengths and weaknesses of each view.

Book When the Man Comes Around A Commentary on the Book of Revelation

Download or read book When the Man Comes Around A Commentary on the Book of Revelation written by Douglas Wilson and published by Canon Press & Book Service. This book was released on 2019-07-30 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Though St. John the Evangelist saw many strange monsters in his vision, he saw no creature so wild as one of his own commentators." ~ G.K. Chesterton The book of Revelation was written to do just that: reveal. But most commentaries nowadays either engage in bizarre speculations about the future, or they keep an embarrassed distance from all the apocalyptic events that the apostle John says will “shortly take place.” In this commentary, Douglas Wilson provides a passage-by-passage walkthrough of the entire book, showing how John’s most notorious prophecies concern the Fall of Jerusalem in A.D. 70. Explaining symbols and characters as he goes, Wilson shows from the text that not only is this book not an elaborate code, but that Revelation is not even ultimately concerned with the end of the world as we know it. Revelation is about the triumph of the Church, which always happens when the Man comes around.

Book excerpt: As seen on EWTN, bestselling author Scott Hahn unveils the mysteries of the Mass, offering readers a deeper appreciation of the most familiar of Catholic rituals. Of all things Catholic, there is nothing that is so familiar as the Mass. With its unchanging prayers, the Mass fits Catholics like their favorite clothes. Yet most Catholics sitting in the pews on Sundays fail to see the powerful supernatural drama that enfolds them. Pope John Paul II described the Mass as "Heaven on Earth," explaining that what "we celebrate on Earth is a mysterious participation in the heavenly liturgy." The Lamb’s Supper reveals a long-lost secret of the Church: The early Christians' key to understanding the mysteries of the Mass was the New Testament Book of Revelation. With its bizarre imagery, its mystic visions of heaven, and its end-of-time prophecies, Revelation mirrors the sacrifice and celebration of the Eucharist. Beautifully written, in clear direct language, bestselling Catholic author Scott Hahn's new book will help readers see the Mass with new eyes, pray the liturgy with a renewed heart, and enter into the Mass more fully, enthusiastically, intelligently, and powerfully than ever before.

Book Caesar Nero

Download or read book Caesar Nero written by Jay Rogers and published by . This book was released on 2021-04-17 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Here is wisdom: Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six" (Revelation 13:18). This full-color book examines the life of Nero Caesar, the insane, homicidal dictator of Imperial Rome. Laying blame on the Christians for the Great Fire of Rome that decimated much of the city, Nero rebuilt a large pleasure palace and a public garden where he executed multitudes of early believers in bizarre reenactments of pagan myths. As he slid deeper into madness, Nero proclaimed that he was the all-powerful king of the world - the sun god and savior who had been prophesied to arise in the East - some said from the city of Jerusalem. A little-known fact of history is that Nero launched a war against Judea because he hoped to squelch the messianic fervor in the region and move his throne to Jerusalem. // Using some recently uncovered documentation, the case for a preterist interpretation of Revelation 13:18 is succinctly laid out with the aid of visually appealing graphic illustrations. A fascinating look into a too-often neglected area of study, this book is organized in the form of questions frequently posed by critics and answered by well-attested yet seldomly taught evidences for the preterist view. // -Is Nero the Beast of Revelation? - How did Nero's women play a role in the birthing of the Christian Church? - What were the circumstances of the Apostle Paul's first imprisonment in Rome? - Why does the account of The Book of Acts end so abruptly after chapter 28? - Why did Nero build a nearly 100-foot tall statue of himself? - What is the evidence that 666 equals the number of Nero? - When was Paul's second imprisonment under Nero? - Was Nero's persecution of Christians localized or empire-wide? - Did Peter write his Second Epistle from Jerusalem or Rome? - Was the Book of Revelation written while Nero was the Emperor? - How did Nero's persecution of the Church end? - Was Nero really that bad? - How is the "Neron Caesar Papyrus" a key to a preterist interpretation of Revelation 13:18? - Is the correct spelling of Nero Caesar in Hebrew actually NRWN QSR? - Why would Greek-speaking Christians count the Number of the Beast in Hebrew? - What is the Mark of the Beast? - Is the Beast the same Satanic entity as the Antichrist? - What are sixteen marks of the Beast in Revelation 13 that point to Nero? - How is the Beast of Revelation portrayed in popular culture?

Book Daniel in the Preterists Den

Download or read book Daniel in the Preterists Den written by Thomas A. Howe and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2008-06-01 with total page 742 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, there has been rise in popularity and visibility of the debate about the last things. Preterists and Futurists have published books, articles, and even movies promoting their respective views. This debate has elevated the interest of the Christian public in eschatological issues. Along with the increased interest in eschatology, there has been a rise in popularity of the Preterist view, which holds that most or all of the prophecies about Christ's coming have already been fulfilled--that the "second coming" took place in 70 AD. Most of the discussion from those who espouse the Preterist view, however, revolves around certain passages in the New Testament, and their treatment of Old Testament passages is sporadic and selective. The importance of the book of Daniel in these discussions cannot be overstated. However, most commentaries on Daniel from a Futurist perspective have not dealt with the Preterists' interpretations of the key prophetic passages. There simply is no detailed commentary on the book of Daniel that addresses the Presterist interpretations of this important book. This book is a commentary on the entire book of Daniel from a Futurist perspective that specifically addresses the Preterist interpretations of the key prophetic passages. This is not a book that selects passages out of the context of the book and attempts to explain their prophetic significance. Rather, this is a commentary on the entire book of Daniel that places these critical prophetic passages in their literary and historical context, and then deals with the various interpretations of these passages as they fit into the context of the book as a whole.

Book excerpt: Even while he was still alive, Dominican friar Albert of Cologne was widely called Magnus the Great. His contemporaries said St. Albert simply knew all there was to know; he was a scientist, theologian, and philosopher; a teacher, preacher, and negotiator; a shrewd shepherd and an unflinching defender of the Faith. The time has come to re-discover St. Albert's greatness, and to profit from his prodigious wisdom and virtue as did his famous student, St. Thomas Aquinas. Author Kevin Vost presents St. Albert's brilliant scholarly career at the height of the Church's intellectual renewal in the thirteenth century. St. Albert was tireless (and courageous) in his leadership and works of reform as a Dominican provincial and diocesan bishop. Desperate popes pressed him into diplomatic missions, hoping that Magnus might succeed in making peace where lesser men had failed. These pages not only tell St. Albert's story they share his lessons. Each chapter uses Albertine teachings, and the witness of the saint's life, to instruct, edify, and inspire us to greater holiness and more ardent love. Read St. Albert and see why the greatest man of his age has great things to offer our age as well.

Book Jesus the Magician

    Book Details:
  • Author : Smith, Morton
  • Publisher : Hampton Roads Publishing
  • Release : 2014-08-27
  • ISBN : 157174715X
  • Pages : 328 pages

Download or read book Jesus the Magician written by Smith, Morton and published by Hampton Roads Publishing. This book was released on 2014-08-27 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A twentieth-century classic, uncannily smart, incredibly learned."--from the foreword by Bart Ehrman This book challenges traditional Christian teaching about Jesus. While his followers may have seen him as a man from heaven, preaching the good news and working miracles, Smith asserts that the truth about Jesus is more interesting and rather unsettling. The real Jesus, only barely glimpsed because of a campaign of disinformation, obfuscation, and censorship by religious authorities, was not Jesus the Son of God. In actuality he was Jesus the Magician. Smith marshals all the available evidence including, but not limited to, the Gospels. He succeeds in describing just what was said of Jesus by "outsiders," those who did not believe him. He deals in fascinating detail with the inevitable questions. What was the nature of magic? What did people at that time mean by the term "magician"? Who were the other magicians, and how did their magic compare with Jesus' works? What facts led to the general assumption that Jesus practiced magic? And, most important, was that assumption correct? The ramifications of Jesus the Magician give new meaning to the word controversial. This book recovers a vision of Jesus that two thousand years of suppression and polemic could not erase. And--what may be the central point of the debate--Jesus the Magician strips away the myths and legends that have obscured Jesus, the man who lived.
