Download or read book In the Butterfly Kingdom There is Kindness written by Laura Thompson and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2020-02-28 with total page 35 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the second book in the series In the Butterfly Kingdom books. The royal family is busy in the garden continuing to help others. The inspiration for writing this book comes from the scripture verse Galatians 5:22""23, which is the fruit of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. King Monarch and Queen Alexandra have decided to have another baby, and they are very happy to have a beautiful little girl, and they have named her Princess Jacqueline. Prince Joey and Prince Nicolas are excited to have a sister as well, and they enjoy spending their days together in the garden playing their instruments with one another. Prince Joey and Prince Nicholas enjoy playing the drums, and Princess Jacqueline likes to play the guitar. They were very busy practicing each day for the big concert they were going to have for everyone who lives in the garden. Princess Jacqueline encounters a moth that treats one of her friends unkindly just because her wings are a different color from the other butterflies. Princess Jacqueline who has eaten the special fruit from the Blessing Tree is filled with kindness and knows what she must do. The story line is about acceptance of others and also choosing to forgive when we have been offended so that we can become better not bitter. It is written in a lighthearted manner to help children understand acceptance of others despite our differences and to be kind to one another. It is Laura's hope and desire for everyone who reads this story to arrive with an understanding in their hearts and minds that we are all different, but also emerge from the wisdom in knowing that we all have a deep desire to be loved, accepted, and to be treated with the utmost of kindness. The main character, Princess Jacqueline, who is featured in this story, is named after the author's granddaughter; and she has personalized the butterfly to reflect her and fruit of the spirit kindness that she sees inside her. Laura believes that if we sow seeds of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control, we will always produce good fruit.

While her international career has prospered, her personal affairs have not and the almost urgent sense that something vital is missing inspires her to make a pilgrimage to idyllic, small town Montague to visit her closest childhood friend, Annie. Until recently, Annie's life has appeared to be perfect. She married her pillar-of-society psychiatrist husband, Arthur, while they were both still in college, became a full-time mother to their two young children and devoted her self to caring for her family. Her life seemed to be postcard perfect until just the year before, when Arthur committed suicide, leaving her to raise now eight-year-old Sam and fourteen-year-old Betsy on her own. When Elizabeth arrives in Montague, she is plunged into the dark and tangled mystery surrounding Arthur's death. Nothing, apparently, is as it seems. Annie's life has been a lie for years. Arthur was a violent, angry man who scarcely spoke to his wife. Betsy and her father shared an unnaturally close relationship that excluded Annie and everyone else. Only Sam -- sweet, cheerful, buoyant Sam -- seems to have survived unscathed, but has he? And why is Annie so afraid of Jackson, Arthur's boyhood chum who was close to both Arthur and Annie for many years before he was banished from the family? Why has he resurfaced now and what secrets are he and Annie hiding? As Elizabeth tries to sort through the web of deceit in Annie's life, her own demons begin to emerge. She is haunted in her nightly dreams by a recurring vision from childhood of a brooding moonlike face hovering just above her but remaining out of reach. Who is the face, why has it returned and what does it want? Annie believes that only Luke, her high school confidant and Elizabeth's long ago boyfriend, can provide the key to their shared crises. Without telling Elizabeth, Annie invites Luke to join them in Montague. An unexpected love story ensues as the protective layers surrounding each of the characters begin to unravel. Annie finds courage and perspective as she sees her life from a new vantage point. Betsy learns that Arthur was not her biological father and that the insanity she was so afraid of inheriting from him is not her birthright. Elizabeth recovers the deeply buried memories of her own mother's death and finally confronts the face that has been haunting her dreams since childhood. At the center of Betsy and Elizabeth's growing friendship is their shared search for a relationship with God as He is revealed in the Psalms and Proverbs. Ultimately, each of the characters finds a Higher Power to whom they can turn for strength and comfort.

King Alaric, a beloved leader, organizes an annual festival to commemorate their hard-won freedom. His children, the handsome prince Leo and the brilliant but slightly imperfect princess Liora, are dedicated to ensuring the kingdom's safety, especially given the lingering threat of the dark giant who promised to return. As tensions rise, Liora's instincts tell her that danger is imminent. When the giant reemerges during the festival, he unleashes chaos, attempting to reclaim his dominion. In a fierce battle of light versus dark, Liora leads her fellow butterflies in a united front, drawing strength from their shared history and unwavering bond. Despite their victory, the cost is great, as King Alaric succumbs to his injuries in the aftermath of the battle. Grieving yet resolute, Liora vows to honor her father’s legacy and safeguard their kingdom. Surrounded by loyal friends and allies, she embraces her role as a leader, determined to guide her people into a hopeful future, even as shadows linger in the corners of their world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ella is different than most young women in the kingdom. She can quote any Shakespearean play. She befriends every animal she meets, including the scurrying mice living in the walls. She believes in the power of kindness, in changing customs that are not so kind. Ella has faced unspeakable tragedy and loss, and is at the mercy of her cruel stepfamily. And yet, Ella tries to keep a brave face, no matter how difficult this becomes. Kit has always been deemed a "dreamer." He values peace above all else. He's never understood the point of certain royal traditions and rituals. He'd rather spend time in his mother's garden than learn to fence or sit for a portrait. And as a prince, this has been somewhat problematic. This is a story about kindness and courage, about love lost and love found, about the power of names. This is the story of Cinderella.

Download or read book Only God Can Make a Butterfly written by M. D. David J. Delnostro and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2011 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God's ultimate plan for His people is one of transformation. All of us are born in God's image, but His ultimate desire is for us to be transformed into His likeness. For this metamorphosis to occur, we must stop competing with God to be the master of our lives. Just as a butterfly changes from a larval caterpillar, all human beings are to be transformed into their mature form, a person possessing the nature and character of Jesus. Butterfly people see the world from God's perspective and experience more joy and peace in life. Caterpillars are left behind to see the world from man's perspective and suffer from immature, pathological thinking, dysfunctional relationships, and self-serving religions and governments. God designed our world for Christ-centered butterflies that can live in the light of His wisdom and truth, not caterpillars that stumble through life and remain lost in the darkness of their self-centered world. In Only God Can Make A Butterfly, David Delnostro, M.D. walks you through the psychological, interpersonal, political and medical advantages of soaring through life as a butterfly and the pathological consequences of crawling through life as a caterpillar. David J. Delnostro, M.D. is a graduate of Ohio State University College of Medicine. He began his medical career in 1980 in Savannah, Georgia as an emergency room physician at Candler Hospital. For the past twenty-six years, he has practiced family medicine and currently is a member of Southcoast Medical Group in Savannah. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, the oldest of six children. Although he was raised by a Catholic father and a Jewish mother, he never practiced either religion. At age forty, he began his life-changing relationship with Jesus. Currently, he serves as a deacon and Divorce Recovery leader at Savannah Christian Church.

Download or read book In the Time of the Butterflies written by Julia Alvarez and published by Algonquin Books. This book was released on 2010-01-12 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2024, internationally bestselling author and literary icon Julia Alvarez's In the Time of the Butterflies is "beautiful, heartbreaking and alive ... a lyrical work of historical fiction based on the story of the Mirabal sisters, revolutionary heroes who had opposed and fought against Trujillo." (Concepción de León, New York Times) Alvarez’s new novel, The Cemetery of Untold Stories, is coming April 2, 2024. Pre-order now! It is November 25, 1960, and three beautiful sisters have been found near their wrecked Jeep at the bottom of a 150-foot cliff on the north coast of the Dominican Republic. The official state newspaper reports their deaths as accidental. It does not mention that a fourth sister lives. Nor does it explain that the sisters were among the leading opponents of Gen. Rafael Leónidas Trujillo’s dictatorship. It doesn’t have to. Everybody knows of Las Mariposas—the Butterflies. In this extraordinary novel, the voices of all four sisters--Minerva, Patria, María Teresa, and the survivor, Dedé--speak across the decades to tell their own stories, from secret crushes to gunrunning, and to describe the everyday horrors of life under Trujillo’s rule. Through the art and magic of Julia Alvarez’s imagination, the martyred Butterflies live again in this novel of courage and love, and the human costs of political oppression. "Alvarez helped blaze the trail for Latina authors to break into the literary mainstream, with novels like In the Time of the Butterflies and How the García Girls Lost Their Accents winning praise from critics and gracing best-seller lists across the Americas."—Francisco Cantú, The New York Times Book Review "This Julia Alvarez classic is a must-read for anyone of Latinx descent." —Popsugar.com "A gorgeous and sensitive novel . . . A compelling story of courage, patriotism and familial devotion." —People "Shimmering . . . Valuable and necessary." —Los Angeles Times "A magnificent treasure for all cultures and all time.” —St. Petersburg Times "Alvarez does a remarkable job illustrating the ruinous effect the 30-year dictatorship had on the Dominican Republic and the very real human cost it entailed."—Cosmopolitan.com
