Book Structure Activity Correlations and Solid state Kinetic Investigations of Iron Oxide based Catalysts Supported on SBA 15

Download or read book Structure Activity Correlations and Solid state Kinetic Investigations of Iron Oxide based Catalysts Supported on SBA 15 written by Nina Sharmen Genz and published by . This book was released on 2019-10-16 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, iron oxidic species supported on nanostructured silica (SBA-15) are introduced as model catalysts for deducing structure-activity correlations in selective oxidation of propene. Influence of iron loading, Fe(III) precursor, powder layer thickness during calcination, and molybdenum addition on structure and activity of Fe_{xO_{y/SBA-15 catalysts is investigated.Fe_{xO_{y/SBA-15 catalysts are characterized ex situ and in situ by a multitude of analyzing methods, i.e. XRD, DR-UV-Vis spectroscopy, N_{2physisorption, Raman and Mössbauer spectroscopy, GC-MS, X-ray absorption spectroscopy, and TPR. Moreover, applicability of solid-state kinetic analysis methods to supported iron oxidic species is shown. Results from solid-state kinetic analysis under non-isothermal conditions are particularly helpful in corroborating structure-activity correlations of Fe_{xO_{y/SBA-15 catalysts. Understanding the correlation of various synthesis parameters with structure and activity of Fe_{xO_{y/SBA-15 catalysts eventually permits obtaining improved green iron oxide catalysts for selective oxidation of propene.

Book In Situ Vibrational Spectroscopic Investigation of C4 Hydrocarbon Selective Oxidation Over Vanadium phosphorus oxide Catalysts

Download or read book In Situ Vibrational Spectroscopic Investigation of C4 Hydrocarbon Selective Oxidation Over Vanadium phosphorus oxide Catalysts written by Zhi-Yang Xue and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The open chain dicarbonyl species then experienced cycloaddition to form maleic anhydride. VPO catalyst phase transformations were investigated using in situ laser Raman spectroscopy. During reduction-oxidation step changes, (VO)2P20-- was readily converted to [Alpha subscript Pi]-, [Delta]-VOP04 and ultimately to [Beta]-VOP04 in O2/N2; these V5 phases were eliminated in n- butane/N2. A "wet" nitrogen feed (5-10% H20 in N2) transformed (VO)2P20-- and [Alpha subscript Iota]-, [Alpha subscript Pi]-, [Beta]-, [Delta]-, [Gamma]-VOP04 to V2O5 at temperatures above 400°C. The presence of water vapor facilitated the loss of oxygen atoms involved in V-O-P bonding; separated vanadium oxide and phosphorus oxide species were formed. The isolated vanadium oxides than transformed to V2O5, and phosphorus species likely diffused from the catalyst lattice in the form of acid phosphates.

Book Pathway and Surface Mechanism Studies of 1 3 butadiene Selective Oxidation Over Vanadium molybdenum oxygen Catalysts

Download or read book Pathway and Surface Mechanism Studies of 1 3 butadiene Selective Oxidation Over Vanadium molybdenum oxygen Catalysts written by William David Schroeder and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The catalytic effects of water addition were related to competitive adsorption with various V2O5-based surface sites, including the vanadyl V=O, corner sharing V-0-V and edge sharing V-0 oxygen. Higher levels of water addition were proposed to impose acidic character by dissociative adsorption. In addition, a novel combinatorial synthesis technique for VMoO was used to investigate the phase transitions Of V205, solid solutions of Mo in V205, V9Mo6040, and other reduced VMoO compounds, characterized by laser Raman spectroscopy. The natural composition gradient imposed by the sputter deposition apparatus was used to create VMoO arrays containing 225 samples ranging from 7.0 - 42 mol % Mo03/(V205 + Mo03), determined by EDS analysis.

Book Pathway and Surface Mechanism Studies of 1 3 butadiene Selective Oxidation Over Vanadium Molybdenum Oxygen Catalysts

Download or read book Pathway and Surface Mechanism Studies of 1 3 butadiene Selective Oxidation Over Vanadium Molybdenum Oxygen Catalysts written by and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The partial oxidation of 1,3-butadiene has been investigated over VMoO catalysts synthesized by sol-gel techniques. Surface areas were 9-14 m2/g, and compositions were within the solid solution regime, i.e. below 15.0 mol % MoO3/(MoO3 + V2O5). Laser Raman Spectroscopy and XRD data indicated that solid solutions were formed, and pre- and post-reaction XPS data indicated that catalyst surfaces contained some V{sup +4} and were further reduced in 1,3-butadiene oxidation. A reaction pathway for 1,3-butadiene partial oxidation to maleic anhydride was shown to involve intermediates such as 3,4-epoxy-1-butene, crotonaldehyde, furan, and 2-butene-1,4-dial. The addition of water to the reaction stream substantially increased catalyst activity and improved selectivity to crotonaldehyde and furan at specific reaction temperatures. At higher water addition concentrations, furan selectivity increased from 12% to over 25%. The catalytic effects of water addition were related to competitive adsorption with various V2O5-based surface sites, including the vanadyl V=O, corner sharing V-O-V and edge sharing V-O oxygen. Higher levels of water addition were proposed to impose acidic character by dissociative adsorption. In addition, a novel combinatorial synthesis technique for VMoO was used to investigate the phase transitions of V2O5, solid solutions of Mo in V2O5, V9Mo6O40, and other reduced VMoO compounds, characterized by laser Raman spectroscopy. The natural composition gradient imposed by the sputter deposition apparatus was used to create VMoO arrays containing 225 samples ranging from 7.0-42 mol% MoO3/(V2O5 + MoO3), determined by EDS analysis.
