Book Only Fools Deny Women S Empowerment

Download or read book Only Fools Deny Women S Empowerment written by Leon Duplan and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2017-10-30 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The novel describes how for centuries women have been submitted to various mistreatments and discriminations by men and that unfortunately many of them still prevail today. The goals of women today are directed to fight for their freedom, and to displace men from the pedestal where they have lived for a long time. On May 16, 2010, the same date when Richard Solaris is informed of his fathers death, Pope Leon XVII died in Rome, and one cardinal and two bishops were kidnapped. As well, two car bombs exploded, one in Shanghai China, and another in New Delhi, killing and injuring several innocent people. Richard Solaris travels to Los Angeles in California to find out the real reason for his fathers death. The detective Samuel Lewis of the Los Angeles Police Department believes behind his fathers death can be an international organization, so he transfers the case to the Transnational Intelligence Police Agency (TIPA), where his friend Raymond Sullivan holds the position of General Director. Sullivan designates as responsible for the investigation an unmarried experienced detective of name Albert Colliere, who has solved all his cases except one, the crash of a plane where the Secretary of State of France has died. Coming back from Los Angeles Richard recalls the letter his father left for him with the promise not to open until his demise. Opening the letter Richard is aware of facts that not only put his fathers integrity in doubt, but served to Colliere as the first clues to discover a womens organization, whose leaders were two women who in their youth suffered from mistreatment and discrimination by men, and that made the promise to destroy mens supremacy and helped women to climb into the ecclesiastical power always they say deserved by her. Colliere draws an ingenious plan to infiltrate in their organization a nun as a spy. What was found becomes shocking and terrifying.

Download or read book My Grandmother s Hands written by Resmaa Menakem and published by Central Recovery Press. This book was released on 2017-08-21 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A NATIONAL BESTSELLER "My Grandmother's Hands will change the direction of the movement for racial justice."— Robin DiAngelo, New York Times bestselling author of White Fragility In this groundbreaking book, therapist Resmaa Menakem examines the damage caused by racism in America from the perspective of trauma and body-centered psychology. The body is where our instincts reside and where we fight, flee, or freeze, and it endures the trauma inflicted by the ills that plague society. Menakem argues this destruction will continue until Americans learn to heal the generational anguish of white supremacy, which is deeply embedded in all our bodies. Our collective agony doesn't just affect African Americans. White Americans suffer their own secondary trauma as well. So do blue Americans—our police. My Grandmother's Hands is a call to action for all of us to recognize that racism is not only about the head, but about the body, and introduces an alternative view of what we can do to grow beyond our entrenched racialized divide. Paves the way for a new, body-centered understanding of white supremacy—how it is literally in our blood and our nervous system. Offers a step-by-step healing process based on the latest neuroscience and somatic healing methods, in addition to incisive social commentary. Resmaa Menakem, MSW, LICSW, is a therapist with decades of experience currently in private practice in Minneapolis, MN, specializing in trauma, body-centered psychotherapy, and violence prevention. He has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show and Dr. Phil as an expert on conflict and violence. Menakem has studied with bestselling authors Dr. David Schnarch (Passionate Marriage) and Dr. Bessel van der Kolk (The Body Keeps the Score). He also trained at Peter Levine's Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute.

Book Arts of Healing

    Book Details:
  • Author : Arleen Ionescu
  • Publisher : Rowman & Littlefield
  • Release : 2020-06-22
  • ISBN : 1786610981
  • Pages : 321 pages

Download or read book Arts of Healing written by Arleen Ionescu and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2020-06-22 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book occurs at the intersection of philosophy, critical theory, psychoanalysis and the visual arts. Each chapter looks at art produced in various traumatogenic cultures: detention centres, post-Holocaust film, autobiography and many more.Other chapters look at the Juarez femicides, the production of collective memory, of makeshift memorials, acts of forgiveness and contemporary forms of trauma. The book proposes new ways of 'thinking trauma', foregrounding the possibility of healing and the task that the critical humanities has to play in this healing. Where is its place in an increasingly terror-haunted world, where personal and collective trauma is as much of an everyday occurrence as it is incomprehensible? What has become known as the 'classical model of trauma' has foregrounded the unrepresentability of the traumatic event. New, revisionist approaches seek to move beyond an aporetic understanding of trauma, investigating both intersubjective and intrasubjective psychic processes of healing. Traumatic memory is not always verbal and 'iconic' forms of communication are part of the arts of healing.

Book Which Reminds Me

Book excerpt: In Which Reminds Me Duane Windemiller paints a picture of his spiritual pilgrimage from farm boy to college professor-through wars and tranquility-social struggles and personal victory-tears and laughter, to the sense of Jesus' words: "Well done, my good and faithful servant." The picture on the cover is of the author of this book-pastor of the Hampton Beach, NH, summer time chapel. The congregation calls him Windy and he calls himself Sacred Agent 007. The chapel, known as "The Singing Church," is unusual. The bulletin board invites all to "Come as You Are-Happy Hour 9:30." There is laughter and 150 to 200 voices singing gospel music to the beat of a rocking and rolling piano-enough to drown out the shrieking and splashing from the water slide next door. Being pastor of this chapel for twenty-four years caps the long and multi-faceted career of Doc Windy who invites you on a picturesque guided tour nearly ninety years long.

Book excerpt: A guide to the surprising benefits of music on your mind, spirit, and body—complete with sound-based breathing and meditation exercises Since 1991, Dr. Mitchell Gaynor has been achieving remarkable results by integrating music, vocalization, breathing, and meditation techniques in his work with patients. In The Healing Power of Sound, he presents his sound-based techniques for self-healing—techniques that anyone can use, whether faced with a life-threatening disease or simply seeking relief from the stresses of daily life. Numerous studies have demonstrated the health benefits of music: it can lower blood pressure and heart and respiratory rates; reduce cardiac complications; increase the immune response; and boost our natural opiates. Gaynor shows how, when integrated as part of a mind-body-spirit approach to wellness, music can play a significant part in maintaining a healthy lifestyle or in healing serious disease. The Healing Power of Sound includes twelve exercises involving breathing, meditation, and “toning”—using pure vocal sound to resolve tension, release emotion, and spur the healing process—that can be used by anyone to improve health and quality of life.
