Book Deepfakes

Download or read book Deepfakes written by Nina Schick and published by Twelve. This book was released on 2020-08-25 with total page 147 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Uncover everything you need to know about "deepfakes" and what could become the biggest information and communications meltdown in world history. In a world of deepfakes, it will soon be impossible to tell what is real and what isn't. As advances in artificial intelligence, video creation, and online trolling continue, deepfakes pose not only a real threat to democracy -- they threaten to take voter manipulation to unprecedented new heights. This crisis of misinformation which we now face has since been dubbed the "Infocalypse." In DEEPFAKES, investigative journalist Nina Schick uses her expertise from working in the field to reveal shocking examples of deepfakery and explain the dangerous political consequences of the Infocalypse, both in terms of national security and what it means for public trust in politics. This all-too-timely book also unveils what this all means for us as individuals, how deepfakes will be used to intimidate and to silence, for revenge and fraud, and just how truly unprepared governments and tech companies are for what's coming.

Download or read book Deadly Paradise written by Kate Valery and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2007-10-16 with total page 371 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The novel DEADLY PARADISE tells about obsessive love, hatred and the power struggle between the wealthy and powerful Blue Creek Condominium president, Mr. Robert Howards, and the simple, but attractive, Russian immigrant caretaker, Nina. The book is set in a first class high-rise building in Pittsburgh, PA. It is the backdrop for the gripping and frantic story of Rob and Nina's relationship. Intertwined, as well, are the stories of the staff and residents who live in the building. The novel explores many human emotions as well as a variety of characters. The adventures in the narrative include: stories of immigrant life, a struggle with cancer, pure love as contrasted with horrible sadistic love, abuse and harassment. The main dramaturgic line is the deep psychological tragedy and sufferings of a tyrannical man, who was a dictator ruling the kingdom of slaves. Rob finds his only true love in a woman from another culture, a different social class and a completely opposite character. But she keeps him at arms length and unconsciously completely ruined his kingdom which everyone hates and scares. Nina doesn't rebel openly against the oppressive atmosphere, but seeks freedom and democracy in her own way, by living and enjoying her life and singing. She continues to be full of love for the whole world. In this way she wins people's affection and undermined Rob's power in the company. The story culminates when Rob shot Nina in the triumphal hour of her victory.

If the story is to end “happily ever after” for Carin and Verek, old demons must be laid to rest. Readers of the Waterspell fantasy series will welcome this long-awaited fourth book for the answers it provides to questions raised in volumes 1 through 3: Does the wysard Verek regain his powers, and will Carin make her way back to him? Have Carin’s parents survived the plague that devastated their world, and will she ever see them again? Did Lanse survive the attack by Carin’s defender? Is Lord Legary really dead? And not least: Did the necromancer die in the jaws of Carin’s conjured dragon? Remember: there was no blood in the water. These questions and more are answered in Waterspell Book 4: The Witch, which picks up the story of the lovers, Carin and Verek, half a decade after readers saw the pair separated in the closing chapters of the original trilogy. By the blood of Abraxas, it’s about time we learned what happened next. The Waterspell series begins with Books 1-3: The Warlock; The Wysard; and The Wisewoman.

Book Arthur Moreau Story

  • Pages : 228 pages

Download or read book Arthur Moreau Story written by Guy Booth and published by Arena books. This book was released on 2011-09-05 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A unique work of fiction, combining a horror story encapsulated in mystery, stark realism and fantasy, and thick with ironic humour throughout. The gripping action of the drama unfolds in a rich environment of palatial houses, offices, and churches, amongst a coterie of remarkable and often artistic people implicated in a set of sinister forces beyond their control or understanding. The narrator of the story, working in the darkened and dusty milieu of a renowned international second hand book store, could hardly be committed to a more sedate trade, when through business contacts he is suddenly whisked away on a series of life-threatening adventures. These begin with his departure to France to attend the funeral of the enigmatic but strangely powerful Arthur Moreau. He is asked by an influential acquaintance to investigate a number of unresolved queries about the deceased, and these lead to such varied locations as Minneapolis, Morocco, Lausanne, the City of London, and the west of France. These places are brought alive in all their realism and colour, but this is contrasted with the weird horror of a scientific project aimed at the insanity of world dominion. On a certain level the book is a philosophical digression on good and evil, and that truth must be central to the sound society, but the power to shock is counterbalanced by a delicious humour poking fun at the faults and foibles of humanity. The fast pace and descriptive incisiveness make this book an un-put-downable read.
