Book Materials Research Society Symposia Proceedings Volume 36 Impurity Diffusion and Gettering in Silicon Held on November 27 30 1984 at Boston Massachusetts

Download or read book Materials Research Society Symposia Proceedings Volume 36 Impurity Diffusion and Gettering in Silicon Held on November 27 30 1984 at Boston Massachusetts written by R. B. Fair and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Topics included impurity behavior, diffusion and oxygen in silicon. Precipitation and complexing of metals in silicon as well as their electrical activity, solubility and diffusivity were discussed. Analytical techniques for impurity mapping or detection were compared and the importance of using several analytical tools were stressed. Getter processes were also discussed. Evidence was presented that shows gettering of Nickel, Gold and Iron to be governed by the availability of self interstitials in silicon. Methods of gettering metallic impurities were presented such as deposited films, implantation damage and epitaxial misfit dislocations. The role of point defects in silicon and their influence on diffusion, extrinsic defect growth and gettering was presented in two sessions. Questions addressed were the relative contributions of vacancies and self-interstitials to impurity diffusion as well as their own diffusivities and concentrations. New data regarding the strain and pressure dependence of diffusion was presented, but no definitive conclusions can be made regarding the mechanisms involved. Two sessions were also devoted to oxygen in silicon. Mechanisms regarding intrinsic gettering, denuded zone formation, nucleation and growth of oxygen precipitates were addressed.

Book Science and Technology of Defects in Silicon

Download or read book Science and Technology of Defects in Silicon written by C.A.J. Ammerlaan and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-01-01 with total page 518 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume reviews recent developments in the materials science of silicon. The topics discussed range from the fundamental characterization of the physical properties to the assessment of materials for device applications, and include: crystal growth; process-induced defects; topography; hydrogenation of silicon; impurities; and complexes and interactions between impurities. In view of its key position within the conference scope, several papers examine process induced defects: defects due to ion implantation, silicidation and dry etching, with emphasis being placed on the device aspects. Special attention is also paid to recent developments in characterization techniques on epitaxially grown silicon, and silicon-on-insulators.

Book Integrated Circuit Fabrication

Download or read book Integrated Circuit Fabrication written by James D. Plummer and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2023-10-31 with total page 679 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Master fundamental technologies for modern semiconductor integrated circuits with this definitive textbook. It includes an early introduction of a state-of-the-art CMOS process flow, exposes students to big-picture thinking from the outset, and encourages a practical integration mindset. Extensive use of process and TCAD simulation, using industry tools such as Silvaco Athena and Victory Process, provides students with deeper insight into physical principles, and prepares them for applying these tools in a real-world setting. Accessible framing assumes only a basic background in chemistry, physics and mathematics, providing a gentle introduction for students from a wide range of backgrounds; and over 450 figures (many in color), and more than 280 end-of-chapter problems, will support and cement student understanding. Accompanied by lecture slides and solutions for instructors, this is the ideal introduction to semiconductor technology for senior undergraduate and graduate students in electrical engineering, materials science and physics, and for semiconductor engineering professionals seeking an authoritative introductory reference.

Book Gettering Defects in Semiconductors

Download or read book Gettering Defects in Semiconductors written by Victor A. Perevostchikov and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-12-12 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gettering Defects in Semiconductors fulfills three basic purposes: – to systematize the experience and research in exploiting various gettering techniques in microelectronics and nanoelectronics; – to identify new directions in research, particularly to enhance the perspective of professionals and young researchers and specialists; – to fill a gap in the contemporary literature on the underlying semiconductor-material theory. The authors address not only well-established gettering techniques but also describe contemporary trends in gettering technologies from an international perspective. The types and properties of structural defects in semiconductors, their generating and their transforming mechanisms during fabrication are described. The primary emphasis is placed on classifying and describing specific gettering techniques, their specificity arising from both their position in a general technological process and the regimes of their application. This book addresses both engineers and material scientists interested in semiconducting materials theory and also undergraduate and graduate students in solid–state microelectronics and nanoelectronics. A comprehensive list of references provides readers with direction for further reading.
