Book Transition Metal Impurities in Semiconductors

Download or read book Transition Metal Impurities in Semiconductors written by K. A. Kikoin and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1994 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses the theory of the electron states of transition metal impurities in semiconductors in connection with the general theory of isoelectronic impurities. It contains brief descriptions of the experimental data available for transition metal impurities belonging to iron, palladium and platinum groups and for rare-earth impurities in elemental semiconductors (III-IV, II-VI and IV-VI compounds) and in several oxide compounds (Ti2, BaTiO3, SrTiO3). Also included are applications of the theory to the optical, electrical and resonance properties of semiconductors doped by the transition metal impurities. The book presents a theory unifying previously proposed ligand-field and band descriptions of transition metal impurities. It describes the theory in the context of the general theory of neutral impurities in semiconductors and demonstrates the capabilities of this description to explain the basic experimental properties of semiconductors doped by transition metal impurities. A detailed discussion of various experimental results and their theoretical interpretation is carried out. This book comprises three parts. The first two parts consider several exactly solvable models and describe numerical techniques. All the models and simulations constitute a general pattern describing transition metal and rare-earth impurities in semiconductors. The final part uses this theory in order to address various experimentally observed properties of these systems.

Book Impurities and Defects in Group IV Elements and III V Compounds St rstellen und Defekte in Elementen der IV Gruppe und III V Verbindungen

Download or read book Impurities and Defects in Group IV Elements and III V Compounds St rstellen und Defekte in Elementen der IV Gruppe und III V Verbindungen written by C.A.J. Ammerlaan and published by Springer. This book was released on 1989-12-12 with total page 776 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Subvolume III/22b of the Landolt-Börnstein New Series presents a comprehensive data compilation on defects and impurities in the elemental semiconductors and in the III-V compounds. Data on semiconductor defects were already included in the extended data collection on semiconductors in volumes III/17a...i. Research on semiconductor defects and impurities, however, advanced so rapidly during recent years that a new subvolume on this important topic seemed desirable. The information given in subvolume III/22b ranges from trends on defect properties as predicted by theory and a survey of diagnostic techniques to extensive tables and graphical representations of defect properties. The editor and the authors have endeavoured to find a unified form and to critically select the important and reliable information from the wide range of published data. Discussions of ambiguous results or textbook style explanations are avoided.

Book Luminescence of Inorganic Solids

Download or read book Luminescence of Inorganic Solids written by B. Bartolo and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 702 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These proceedings report the lectures and seminars of a course entitled "Luminescence of Inorganic Solids," held at Erice, Italy, June 15-30, 1977. This course \'7aS an activity of the International School of Atomic and No1ecu1ar Spectroscopy of the "Ettore Hajorana" Centre for Scientific Culture. The course opened with an overvievl of the present status of luminescence research and with an assessment of its future trends. The following lectures introduced the basic formalism behind the interaction of matter with the radiation field and the lattice phonons. The luminescence properties of various classes of in organic materials were treated next, for the specific cases of unfilled-shell activators (transition metal, lanthanide and actinide ions) and filled-s~e11 activators (s2 and d10 ions). Different models suitable for the description of the luminescence properties of semiconductors vlere examined next. The dynamics of energy transfer and relaxation in the excited state of t;1e activators were treated in lectures devoted to the luminescence phenomena of sensitization, concentration quenching and thermal quenching. Finally, the relevance of luminescence studies to the field of phosphor technology and to the laser field Has examined. Each lecturer began the treatment of this topic(s) at a fundamental level and finally reached the current level of research. The sequence of the lectures was determined by the requirements of a didactical presentation. The emphasis of the course was primarily on basic principles. The formal lectures Here complemented by seminars and discussions.
