Il tema merita una particolare attenzione per la complessità dei contenuti da affrontare, in primo luogo, per gli aspetti specifici di una impresa che non si caratterizza per il suo capitale economico e finanziario, ma per le qualità conoscitive, pratiche, professionali delle persone che costituiscono il proprio capitale sociale; in secondo luogo, occorre prendere in considerazione le caratteristiche e le potenzialità della trasformazione di una crescita meramente economica (growth) in uno sviluppo che si avvale progressivamente di una inedita connessione tra capitale umano, sociale ed economico, uno sviluppo (development) a più dimensioni e in continuo mutamento per la variazione delle sue diverse componenti, che si collocano dentro la dimensione della globalizzazione dei processi in atto, senza disconnettersi dalla dimensione del locale, delle comunità e dei territori, in cui le imprese, cooperative in particolare si collocano e si riconoscono. In questa prospettiva diventa importante conoscere le mutazioni e la progressiva riconfigurazione organizzativa e professionale che le imprese cooperative vengono ad assumere nel tempo e nello spazio.

Yet few of us who work in the field have stopped long enough to ask where this myth originated. Did the poet observe a case of liver regeneration in a human being? Was it brilliant intuition or perhaps, literally, just a 'gut feeling' of a poet looking for good rhymes that led to the prediction that livers grow when part of the tissueisremoved? Thisbookdoesnotattemptto solve these historical issues. Itdoes, instead, cover in detail some of the major modem themes of research on liver regen eration, injury and repair. As indicated in Dr. N. Bucher's chapter, the modem phase ofexperimental studies on liver regeneration started in 1931 with the publication by Higgins and Anderson of a method to perform a two-thirds resection of the liver of a rat. The technique described has 3 remarkable features: 1) it is highly reproducible, resulting in the removal of 68% of the liver, 2) it has minimal if any mortality, and 3) it consists only of blood vessel ligation and does not involve cutting through or wounding hepatic tissue.

In questo modo è stata sviluppata l’analisi sugli effetti prodotti dagli interventi delle imprese sul valore del capitale sociale delle comunità locali, in particolare raccogliendo ed analizzando i bilanci sociali redatti da imprese cooperative dell’area della Romagna, individuando le tipologie di bilanci rispetto alla comunicazione ai soci e alle diverse espressioni istituzionali e sociali delle comunità di riferimento. La ricerca è ora a disposizione di tutte le realtà cooperative della Romagna, affinché possano trovare spunti e indicazioni su come proseguire nella logica di una sempre maggior integrazione con il tessuto economico, sociale e solidaristico del territorio.
