Il peut être bénin et se résorber rapidement mais il peut aussi apparaître sous des traits beaucoup plus sévères, entravant alors la communication entre l'enfant et son entourage. A l'école, ces troubles peuvent fragiliser les apprentissages et se répercuter sur d'autres domaines (relations, comportement, estime de soi...) Ainsi, ce mémoire traite des impacts du retard de parole et de langage sur les interactions entre l'enfant et son enseignant en grande section de maternelle. Nous émettons l'hypothèse d'une influence négative sur la prise de parole, sur la pertinence des réponses de l'enfant ainsi qu'une influence sur les stratégies d'étayage de l'enseignant et sur la réussite de l'échange. La mise en place d'une activité de langage dans 7 petits groupes, autour d'un livre sans texte, a permis la cotation des comportements de 14 enfants (7 ayant un retard, et 7 sans trouble) sur une grille d'observation et la comparaison entre ces deux groupes d'enfants en interaction avec leur enseignant. Nous constatons que le retard n'entrave pas la prise de parole de l'enfant mais qu'il peut le rendre moins informatif. Ce trouble entraîne manifestement des stratégies d'étayage plus importantes qu'avec l'enfant tout-venant, se caractérisant principalement par des reformulations et des questions ouvertes. La réussite de l'échange est assurée en grande partie grâce aux interventions de l'enseignant pour soutenir le discours de l'enfant. Malgré leur retard, les enfants s'intègrent à la vie de la classe, et particulièrement aux activités de langage.

Book excerpt: Dans le cadre de la déficience dysharmonique, le retard intellectuel de l'enfant est souvent associé à des troubles affectifs et des troubles instrumentaux, notamment des difficultés langagières. Le jeu est décrit dans la littérature comme un médiateur intéressant dans les domaines cognitif, langagier, psychomoteur et psychoaffectif. Nous avons voulu dans cette étude proposer à un enfant de 6 ans, dont le diagnostic s'oriente vers celui d'une déficience dysharmonique, une prise en charge entièrement axée sur le jeu, afin d'intervenir notamment sur l'important retard de parole et de langage associé. Un bilan initial et un bilan d'évolution au bout de 6 mois de prise en charge ont été proposés. L'analyse des résultats montre une évolution favorable dans la réalisation des praxies bucco-linguo-faciales, dans les traitements phonologique, lexical et syntaxique, ainsi que dans les capacités cognitives, attentionnelles et mnésiques. Le phonétisme et le traitement visuo-spatial et graphique ont par contre peu progressé. Sans pouvoir conclure sur l'intérêt d'une telle rééducation dans le cadre général des déficiences dysharmoniques, nous pouvons cependant souligner à travers cette étude l'intérêt du jeu comme médiateur thérapeutique dans la prise en charge de ces enfants, confrontés à des difficultés à la fois instrumentales et psychoaffectives.

Calhoun, detail the vulnerability to being duped and deceived and the difficulty of cooperating when values differ. Murray Bowen, M.D., the first researcher to observe several live-in families, for up to three years, at the National Institute of Mental Health. Describing how family members overly influence one another and distribute stress unevenly, Bowen described both how symptoms and family leaders emerge in highly stressed families. Our brain is not organized to automatically perceive that each family has an emotional system, fine-tuned by evolution and "valuing" its survival as a whole, as much as the survival of any individual. It is easier to see this emotional system function in ants or mice but not in humans. The emotional system is organized to snooker us humans: encouraging us to take sides, run away from others, to pressure others, to get sick, to blame others, and to have great difficulty in seeing our part in problems. It is hard to see that we become anxious, stressed out and even that we are difficult to deal with. But "thinking systems" can open the doors of perception, allowing us to experience the world in a different way. This book offers both coaching ideas and stories from leaders as to strategies to break out from social control by de-triangling, using paradoxes, reversals and other types of interruptions of highly linked emotional processes. Time is needed to think clearly about the automatic nature of the two against one triangle. Time and experience is required as we learn strategies to put two people together and get self outside the control of the system. In addition, it takes time to clarify and define one's principles, to know what "I" will or will not do and to be able to take a stand with others with whom we are very involved. The good news is that systems' thinking is possible for anyone. It is always possible for an individual to understand feelings and to integrate them with their more rational brains. In so doing, an individual increases his or her ability to communicate despite misunderstandings or even rejection from important others. The effort involved in creating your Mindful Compass enables us to perceive the relationship system without experiencing it's threats. The four points on the Mindful Compass are: 1) Action for Self, 2) Resistance to Forward Progress, 3) Knowledge of Social Systems and the 4) The Ability to Stand Alone. Each gives us a view of the process one enters when making an effort to define a self and build an emotional backbone. It is not easy to find our way through the social jungle. The ability to know emotional systems well enough to take a position for self and to become more differentiated is part of the natural way humans cope with pressure. Now people can use available knowledge to build an emotional backbone, by thoughtfully altering their part in the relationship system. No one knows how far one can go by making an effort to be more of a self-defined individual in relationships to others. Through increasing emotional maturity, we can find greater individual freedom at the same time that we increase our ability to cooperate and to be close to others.

The Oral Speech Mechanism Screening Examination (OSMSE) is designed primarily for use by clinical speech-language pathologists. The examination could also serve, however, as a useful tool for oral myofunctional therapists, as well as physical therapists, dentists, and orthodontists interested specifically in speech. It is reliable, relatively easy and quick to administer, and appropriate for children and adults in either diagnostic or therapy settings. The OSMSE is intended to assess those anatomical structures and physiological functions that are most often considered to be potentially related to speech or language disorders. Structural and/or functional judgments included are organized on the OSMSE test form under categories of: lips, tongue, jaw, teeth, hard palate, soft palate, pharynx, breathing, and diadochokinesis. Results of a preliminary study with normal speaking subjects indicated that the OSMSE had satisfactory intra- and inter-examiner reliability after minimal training. The time required to administer the examination typically ranged from 5 to 10 minutes. (Author/GK)
