A new graduate nurse's transition takes place over the first 12 months of practice and requires extensive support to minimize the level of transition shock experienced by graduate nurses. Implementing a buddy program is crucial for added peer support due to the loss of the preceptor/coach relationship post orientation and provides a platform for gradual progression as new nurses experience role transition." -- Abstract.
