Book Implementation of Advanced Two Equation Turbulence Models in the USM3D Unstructured Flow Solver

Download or read book Implementation of Advanced Two Equation Turbulence Models in the USM3D Unstructured Flow Solver written by Qunzhen Wang and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: USM3D is a widely-used unstructured flow solver for simulating inviscid and viscous flows over complex geometries. The current version (version 5.0) of USM3D, however, does not have advanced turbulence models to accurately simulate complicated flow. We have implemented two modified versions of the original Jones and Launder k-epsilon "two-equation" turbulence model and the Girimaji algebraic Reynold stress model in USM3D. Tests have been conducted for three flat plate boundary layer cases, a RAE2822 airfoil and an ONERA M6 wing. The results are compared with those from direct numerical simulation, empirical formulae, theoretical results, and the existing Spalart-Allmaras one-equation model

Book AIAA Guide for the Verification and Validation of Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulations

Download or read book AIAA Guide for the Verification and Validation of Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulations written by American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and published by AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics). This book was released on 1998 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This document defines a number of key terms, discusses fundamental concepts, and specifies general procedures for conducting verification and validation of computational fluid dynamics simulations. It's goal is to provide a foundation for the major issues and concepts in verification and validation. However, it does not recommend standards in these areas because a number of important issues are not yet resolved.

Book Project Constellation

Download or read book Project Constellation written by Tim McElyea and published by Apogee Books. This book was released on 2007 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Project Constellation is NASA's initiative to develop a replacement for the aging Space Shuttle. It's main goal is to provide spacecraft for returning to the Moon by the year 2020. This Pocket Space Guide, #9 in the series, gives the background information on how the program was formed and what it is destined to accomplish. Details are given for all of the elements of the Project Constellation, from the Lunar Precursor Robotic Program to the Orion spacecraft, Ares launch vehicles, and the Lunar Surface Access Module. Project Constellation is realizing President Bush's "Vision" for space and this book chronicles the progress and outlines the plans for tomorrow.

Book Multigrid Techniques

Download or read book Multigrid Techniques written by Achi Brandt and published by SIAM. This book was released on 2011-01-01 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This classic text presents the best practices of developing multigrid solvers for large-scale computational problems in science and engineering. By representing a problem at multiple scales and employing suitable interscale interactions, multigrid avoids slowdown due to stiffness and reduces the computational cost of classical algorithms by orders of magnitude. Starting from simple examples, this book guides the reader through practical stages for developing reliable multigrid solvers, methodically supported by accurate performance predictors. The revised edition presents discretization and fast solution of linear and nonlinear partial differential systems; treatment of boundary conditions, global constraints and singularities; grid adaptation, high-order approximations, and system design optimization; applications to fluid dynamics, from simple models to advanced systems; new quantitative performance predictors, a MATLAB sample code, and more. Readers will also gain access to the Multigrid Guide 2.0 Web site, where updates and new developments will be continually posted, including a chapter on Algebraic Multigrid.

Book Shock Wave Boundary Layer Interactions

Download or read book Shock Wave Boundary Layer Interactions written by Holger Babinsky and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2011-09-12 with total page 481 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shock wave-boundary-layer interaction (SBLI) is a fundamental phenomenon in gas dynamics that is observed in many practical situations, ranging from transonic aircraft wings to hypersonic vehicles and engines. SBLIs have the potential to pose serious problems in a flowfield; hence they often prove to be a critical - or even design limiting - issue for many aerospace applications. This is the first book devoted solely to a comprehensive, state-of-the-art explanation of this phenomenon. It includes a description of the basic fluid mechanics of SBLIs plus contributions from leading international experts who share their insight into their physics and the impact they have in practical flow situations. This book is for practitioners and graduate students in aerodynamics who wish to familiarize themselves with all aspects of SBLI flows. It is a valuable resource for specialists because it compiles experimental, computational and theoretical knowledge in one place.

Book Upwind and High Resolution Schemes

Download or read book Upwind and High Resolution Schemes written by M.Yousuff Hussaini and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 587 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the major achievements in computational fluid dynamics has been the development of numerical methods for simulating compressible flows, combining higher-order accuracy in smooth regions with a sharp, oscillation-free representation of embedded shocks methods and now known as "high-resolution schemes". Together with introductions from the editors written from the modern vantage point this volume collects in one place many of the most significant papers in the development of high-resolution schemes as occured at ICASE.
