Une PACSI constitue une alternative simple, fiable, satisfaisante pour les patients totalement édentés. De nombreux systèmes de connexions axiaux ou barres de conjonctions reliés aux implants, vont apporter un complément de rétention et de stabilisation particulièrement appréciable à la mandibule. Le présent travail consiste, à partir de donnèes extraites de la littérature, à montrer en quoi le système d'attachement Locator ® est un système innovant par rapport aux autres systèmes et quelles sont ses particularités.

Dans le domaine de la prothèse amovible, les implants peuvent réduire l'incofort et l'instabilité ainsi qu'améliorer la capacité fonctionnelle et par conséquent l'efficacité masticatoire. Le but de la présente étude est de tester deux hypothèses. La première étant que les connaissances des personnes âgées sur les implants sont peu approfondies et la seconde que leur attitude envers une intervention implantaire limiterait leur utilisation. Nonante-deux participants de plus de 65 ans ont été recrutés dans trois lieus de résidence différents et ont été confrontés à des questionnaires structurés et semi-structurés. Une analyse de régression linéaire simple et multiple révèle qu'un prédictibilité du taux de refus aux traitements implantaires peut être mise en évidence en rapport avec certains paramètres tels que le port de prothèse, le lieu de résidence, le sexe et le niveau de connaissance. A contrario, l'âge seul n'est pas responsable d'une attitude négative.

The pre-conference preceded the Annual Congress of the International Academy ofLaw and Mental Health. Other chapters were solicited after the conference in order to more completely explore the relation of personhood to health care. The pre conference was held in honor of Yves Pelicier who led so many of our French colleagues in medicine, philosophy, and ethics as Christian Herve notes in his Tribute. As health care is aimed at healing persons, it is important to realize how difficult it is to construct a theory of personhood for health care, and thus, a theory of how healing in health care comes about or ought to occur. The book is divided into four parts, Concepts of the Person, Theories of Personhood in Relation to Health Care and Bioethics, Person and Identity, and Personhood and Hs Relations. Each section explores a critical arena in constructing the relation of personhood to health care. Although no exploration ofthis nature can be exhaustive, every effort was made to present both conflicting and complementary views of personhood from within similar and different philosophical and religious traditions. In the United States, endocrinologists have been providing hormonal therapy for transgender individuals for decades; however, until recently, there has been only limited literature on this subject, and non-endocrine aspects of medical care for transgender individual have not been well addressed in the endocrine literature. The goal of this volume is not only to address the latest in hormonal therapy for transgender individuals (including pediatric and geriatric age groups), but also to familiarize the reader with other aspects of transgender care, including primary and surgical care, fertility preservation, and the management of HIV infection. In addition to medical issues, psychological, social, ethical and legal issues pertinent to transgender individuals add to the complexities of successful treatment of these patients. A final chapter includes extensive additional resources for both transgender patients and providers. Thus, an endocrinologist providing care to a transgender person will be able to use this single resource to address most of the patient’s needs. While Transgender Medicine is intended primarily for endocrinologists, this book will be also useful to primary care physicians, surgeons providing gender-confirming procedures, mental health professionals participating in the care of transgender persons, and medical residents and students.
