Mide el rendimiento de la acción de aquellas empresas que se ofertan públicamente en la bolsa de valores y que incursionan en la modalidad del comercio electrónico. Compara rendimientos individuales de una muestra representativa de empresas antes y durante el evento del comercio electrónico. Dichas empresas, que cotizan en los principales mercados bursátiles de Estados Unidos, son catalogadas de acuerdo al modelo de negocio adoptado para facilitar la evaluación del desempeño de la acción en el tiempo. Los títulos accionarios de las grandes empresas virtuales denominadas "punto-com" son comparadas contra el total del mercado bursátil de Estados Unidos para evaluar su correlación. Finalmente, se evalúa estadísticamente la relación entre los mercados accionarios de México (Bolsa Mexicana de Valores) y Estados Unidos (NasdaqB). Ahora que la volatilidad es la única constante en los mercados bursátiles, los inversionistas actuales y potenciales requieren más que nunca de herramientas que fundamenten sus decisiones de compraventa de acciones para maximizar sus rendimientos. Estos nuevos requerimientos son materializados al final del proyecto cuando se concluye que la entrada del comercio electrónico mejora el valor de las acciones debido a que el mercado visualiza el evento como una iniciativa de mejora. Ahora el inversionista solo tendrá que seguir muy de cerca la estrategia de adaptación de aquellas empresas que buscan participar en el mundo de la economía digital. Adicionalmente, el inversionista podrá predecir ampliamente el comportamiento del mercado bursátil mexicano debido a la fuerte correlación que tiene con el mercado electrónico de Estados Unidos y a la gran dependencia de este último con el desempeño de los títulos del sector tecnológico.
