Book Factors Affecting the Implementation of a Total Productive Maintenance System TPM

Download or read book Factors Affecting the Implementation of a Total Productive Maintenance System TPM written by Norman Herrmann and published by diplom.de. This book was released on 2004-11-30 with total page 77 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inhaltsangabe:Abstract: Modern manufacturing requires that organisations that want to be successful and to achieve world-class manufacturing must posses both effective and efficient maintenance. One approach to improve the performance of maintenance activities is to implement a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) system. The aim of this dissertation is to prove that the introduction of a TPM system is by no means an easy task, because there are several barriers that encumber the implementation process, the driving forces to success have to be identified and well understood, and a process of organisational change has to be managed successfully. The study analyses impediments, barriers and obstacles to the implementation procedure and discovers key success factors concluding with a conceptual framework for a successful TPM implementation. The dissertation also examines the challenge of managing change within the TPM context and identifies that such a TPM journey requires employee and management commitment to be successful. Through a case study of implementing TPM in an automotive supplier company, the practical aspect within and beyond basic TPM theory and problems encountered during the implementation are discussed and analysed. The paper concludes that the implementation of TPM is definitely not an easy task, which is considerably burdened by organisational, behavioural and other barriers, and necessitates the difficult mission to change peoples mindsets from a traditional maintenance approach. Book Management for Sustainable Development

Download or read book Management for Sustainable Development written by Carolina Machado and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-09-01 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today, increasingly more, the word sustainability is present in all kinds of discussions: at home, at work, at school, in all society. Conscious of the environment where we live everybody looks to find the best solutions to solve problems that result from Human Being evolution. Management for a sustainable development appears as a process from which organizations try to use all its resources, as well as improve its organizational and technological development, in order to answer not only to the present but also to future human and social needs. Only in this way is it possible to improve the quality of life. Seen in this way, sustainable development is understood to be people centred. We have a special concern with cultural, social and economic dimensions, where individuals can develop, together as a society, whilst at the same time individual and organizational activities can be implemented without destroying the present diversity and complexity of the ecological system where we live.Taking into account these concerns, this book looks to cover issues related to the management for sustainable development in a context where organizations are continually facing high challenges for what concerns the items related to, amongst others, the re-use, recycling, waste reduction, add value, low costs and time of production, sustainable behaviour, not only in an environmental perspective but also in an organizational perspective. Today’s organizations can no longer develop their practices based in the existent paradigms. On the contrary, it is necessary to completely break from these paradigms, creating a total change of mentality in the way we manage the organizational activities. Taking into account this reality, managing for a sustainable development appears as a management philosophy focused in productivity improvement considering different kinds of goals, such as biological, economic and social systems goals. Conscious of this reality, this book contributes to the exchange of experiences and perspectives about the state of research related to the management for a sustainable development, as well as the future direction of this research field. It looks to provide a support to academics and researchers, as well as those operating in the management field and who need to deal with policies and strategies related to sustainable development issues.

Book International Examples of Lean in Healthcare

Download or read book International Examples of Lean in Healthcare written by Elaine Mead and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-12-15 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Typically entrenched and systemic, healthcare problems require the sort of comprehensive solutions that can only be addressed by a change in culture and a shift in thinking. Organizations around the world are using Lean to redesign care and improve processes in a way that achieves and sustains meaningful results for patients, staff, physicians, and health systems. This book demonstrates how honest appraisal, intelligent planning, and vigilant follow-up have led to dramatic improvements in a variety of healthcare settings across the world. It teaches us how innovative organizations can find sustainable solutions to seemingly intractable problems by following a path guided by Lean Thinking. Lean methods may not solve every healthcare problem, but as these cases prove, changing a culture rather than personnel results in more effective sustainable change. This multi-authored book provides expert descriptions of Lean methods and their application in healthcare, written by the people who developed and tested the methods in healthcare settings. Each chapter brings together a description of the technique or approach, with examples of application in practice from the author’s own practice. Authors use an engaging approach to their narrative, with examples from their personal experience or engagement being described to illustrate the practical application of theoretic approaches. In painting a picture of the environment in which these tools and techniques have been applied, readers will understand the transferability to their own workplace environment. This will be an opportunity to tell real stories of the application of Lean in healthcare and give readers the opportunity to learn from people from across the world, on subjects on which they are acknowledged topic experts, based on day-to-day Lean practice.

Book Productivity and Reliability Based Maintenance Management Second Edition

This book was released on 2022-07-15 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Productivity and Reliability-Based Maintenance Management, Second Edition is intended to provide a strong yet practical foundation for understanding the concepts and practices of total productive maintenance (TPM) management—a proactive asset and resource management strategy that is based on enhancing equipment reliability and overall enterprise productivity. The book is intended to serve as a fundamental yet comprehensive educational and practical guide for departing from the wait-failure-emergency repair cycle that has plagued too many industries, instead advancing a proactive and productive maintenance strategy. It is not intended to be a how-to-fix-it manual, but rather emphasizes the concept of a world-class maintenance management philosophy to avoid the failure in the first place. Universities, junior and community colleges, and technical institutes as well as professional, corporate, and industrial training programs can benefit by incorporating these fundamental concepts in their technical and managerial curricula. The book can serve as a powerful educational tool for students as well as for maintenance professionals and managers. In addition to updating the previous historical and statistical data and tables, the second edition expands on and adds to case studies based on current maintenance-related events. Several numerical examples and explanations are revised in order to enhance the clarity of the methodology. The second edition introduces the readers to the state-of-the-art concepts of the Internet of Things (IoT), smart sensors, and their application to maintenance and TPM.

Book Overall Equipment Effectiveness

Download or read book Overall Equipment Effectiveness written by Robert C. Hansen and published by Industrial Press Inc.. This book was released on 2001 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written primarily for those responsible for the reliability of equipment and the production operation, this innovative book centers on developing and measuring true Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Additionally, it will also help practitioners better understand Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and develop an effective foundation to support Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM). Develops a minimum set of definitions, a practice application, including three methods of computation, and reconciliation of OEE and various losses. Provides the platform and reasons for maintenance and production to work synergistically. Helps to identify the "hidden factory" that exists within the current system in order to begin leveraging its' potential into real bottom line results. Integrates the famous "Theory of Constraints" aspects into an easy to understand shutdown strategy example. Contains many practical examples throughout to illustrate techniques and methods in a way everyone can easily understand.
