Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in molecular biology and genetic engineering are revitalizing the concept of immunization. Novel vaccine delivery systems have been developed. Auto-destruct/self-locking syringes have promoted the “Needle smart” message. Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP) on immunization for doctors and parents have been enriched through continuing medical education (CME) of vaccine updates and parent health education, and through the vigorous media advertisements of the vaccine manufactures. Due to these awareness campaigns, demand generation has increased. Newer vaccines are being licensed in India, after their efficacies have been established at the global level. In addition to the vaccines administered in the National Immunization Schedule, it has become necessary to recommend additional vaccines at different age groups. Apart from newborn, infant and childhood immunization practices, immunization of adolescents has also become a campaign by itself. In this manual, attempt has been made to present a ‘state-of-art’ information concerning issues related to vaccines and immunization. Existing ‘state-of-art’ tables and text of international and national authors have been included with necessary modifications with due acknowledgment

Book Vaccine Science and Immunization Guideline

Download or read book Vaccine Science and Immunization Guideline written by Pamela G. Rockwell, DO and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-06-23 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a comprehensive resource on vaccines and immunizations for primary care physicians, advanced practice providers, and trainees. We are now seeing a rise in measles and the potential for rises in other previously rare infectious diseases, significantly due to public and physician misconceptions and misinformation about vaccines. The text addresses this issue by consolidating historical and current advances in vaccine science from how vaccines are developed to CDC recommendations on how and when to administer them. Expert authors also address barriers to improving vaccination rates in the U.S. and offer evidence-based recommendations on overcoming those barriers. This is an essential guide for primary care physicians, family physicians, pediatricians, internists, residents, medical students, mid-level providers, and learners for understanding vaccines and improving preventative care for their patients.

Book Adverse Effects of Vaccines

  • Author : Institute of Medicine
  • Publisher : National Academies Press
  • Release : 2012-04-26
  • ISBN : 0309214351
  • Pages : 894 pages

Download or read book Adverse Effects of Vaccines written by Institute of Medicine and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2012-04-26 with total page 894 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1900, for every 1,000 babies born in the United States, 100 would die before their first birthday, often due to infectious diseases. Today, vaccines exist for many viral and bacterial diseases. The National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act, passed in 1986, was intended to bolster vaccine research and development through the federal coordination of vaccine initiatives and to provide relief to vaccine manufacturers facing financial burdens. The legislation also intended to address concerns about the safety of vaccines by instituting a compensation program, setting up a passive surveillance system for vaccine adverse events, and by providing information to consumers. A key component of the legislation required the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to collaborate with the Institute of Medicine to assess concerns about the safety of vaccines and potential adverse events, especially in children. Adverse Effects of Vaccines reviews the epidemiological, clinical, and biological evidence regarding adverse health events associated with specific vaccines covered by the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP), including the varicella zoster vaccine, influenza vaccines, the hepatitis B vaccine, and the human papillomavirus vaccine, among others. For each possible adverse event, the report reviews peer-reviewed primary studies, summarizes their findings, and evaluates the epidemiological, clinical, and biological evidence. It finds that while no vaccine is 100 percent safe, very few adverse events are shown to be caused by vaccines. In addition, the evidence shows that vaccines do not cause several conditions. For example, the MMR vaccine is not associated with autism or childhood diabetes. Also, the DTaP vaccine is not associated with diabetes and the influenza vaccine given as a shot does not exacerbate asthma. Adverse Effects of Vaccines will be of special interest to the National Vaccine Program Office, the VICP, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, vaccine safety researchers and manufacturers, parents, caregivers, and health professionals in the private and public sectors.

Book Vaccination Is Not Immunization

Download or read book Vaccination Is Not Immunization written by Tim O'Shea and published by . This book was released on 2020-11-02 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 5th Ed. Fifth Edition (2017) The parent's definitive book on vaccine problems - a complete vaccine education. It will open your eyes. This book is written for everyone concerned about the health and well-being of their children and of themselves. This vaccination book is meticulously documented with over 300 references and does not represent special interests. It's all there: the ingredients in vaccines, the dangers of vaccines, vaccine side effects, autism and vaccines, HPV vaccine, vaccine cover-ups, and more. The book is written in easy-to-understand language as well, not the med-speak found in medical journals. It covers the important vaccine events of the past year, which have been kept out of most media. It is not an anti-vaccine textbook. It is in favor of any vaccines that have proven to be 100% safe, effective, and necessary when tested by independent, third-party research that is wholly unconnected with vaccine manufacturers. Since so many doctors don't vaccinate their own kids, perhaps it isn't a good idea to get all your information about vaccines from advertising or from the people selling them. See what the scientists who make the vaccines have to say. Only then will you have what you need to make an informed decision about how to best care for your child. That responsibility is yours. Not your doctor's. Not the FDA's. And definitely not any lawmaker's. Whether or not to vaccinate your child is arguably the most important decision you will ever make for them. So if you're having the slightest doubts about the safety of the vaccines you're about to give your child, get the facts, from the most reliable vaccine book available today. "It is impossible to estimate the true value of Dr. O'Shea's work. His review of the history of the vaccination industry is vastly more thorough than that taught in medical schools and decisively more balanced." -David Ayoub, MD
