This book was released on 2009-05-08 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “I like what you’ve done. Very Professional,” Perry Snyderman. “Timesharing is a complex business model and for someone that has little or no experience and wants to better understand the fundamentals, this book works well to fi ll many of the information gaps,” Bob Miller According to the American Resort Development Association (ARDA), the timeshare industry is a $10 billion per year business in the U.S. alone and supports 565,300 jobs. By my estimation, more than 50,000 of these jobs are people working directly in the industry. Until now, no book has been written for this group of people that explains the functioning of the timeshare business. This book is written for those who want to fully understand the timeshare business from the inside out or who are in the business and want to be promoted to management positions or are already managers and want to become better. This book begins with how strategies are developed by senior management, continues with many important operating practices and metrics and ends with a series of bonus secrets to help a timeshare company reach its optimum performance. This book explains many of the common terms used in the industry as well as providing high level models to help timeshare management put all the components of this complex business into proper perspective.

Book Mountain Arapesh

    Book Details:
  • Author : Margaret Mead
  • Publisher : Routledge
  • Release : 2018-10-24
  • ISBN : 1351319906
  • Pages : 1086 pages

Download or read book Mountain Arapesh written by Margaret Mead and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-10-24 with total page 1086 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For approximately eight months during 1931-1932, anthropologist Margaret Mead lived with and studied the Mountain Arapesh-a segment of the population of the East Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea. She found a culture based on simplicity, sensitivity, and cooperation. In contrast to the aggressive Arapesh who lived on the plains, both the men and the women of the mountain settlements were found to be, in Mead's word, maternal. The Mountain Arapesh exhibited qualities that many might consider feminine: they were, in general, passive, affectionate, and peaceloving. Though Mead partially explains the male's "femininity" as being due to the type of nourishment available to the Arapesh, she maintains social conditioning to be a factor in the type of lifestyle led by both sexes. Mead's study encapsulates all aspects of the Arapesh culture. She discusses betrothal and marriage customs, sexuality, gender roles, diet, religion, arts, agriculture, and rites of passage. In possibly a portent for the breakdown of traditional roles and beliefs in the latter part of the twentieth century, Mead discusses the purpose of rites of passage in maintaining societal values and social control. Mead also discovered that both male and female parents took an active role in raising their children. Furthermore, it was found that there were few conflicts over property: the Arapesh, having no concept of land ownership, maintained a peaceful existence with each other. In his new introduction to The Mountain Arapesh, Paul B. Roscoe assesses the importance of Mead's work in light of modern anthropological and ethnographic research, as well as how it fits into her own canon of writings. Roscoe discusses findings he culled from a trip to Papua New Guinea in 1991 to clarify some ambiguities in Mead's work. His travels also served to help reconstruct what had happened to the Arapesh since Mead's historic visit in the early 1930s.

Book The Escapers

Download or read book The Escapers written by Caren B. Rubio and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2015-06-01 with total page 603 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Once I began to write, the words, the memories, the tears, the fears, the tastes, the sounds, all of it flooded back, overwhelming me. I couldnt stop writing. The more I wrote, the more I learned of my fathers activities, the more I wondered what it was about him that made it possible for him to escape the Holocaust when so many millions of others could not. What had made him different? What had shaped him, given him the courage, the bravura, the chutzpah, and most important of all, the foresight, the vision and the wisdom to save himself, my mother, and me from the Germans and, earlier, to defy the British and risk his own life to smuggle hundreds of Jews into Eretz Yisrael under the noses of the hated occupiers of the Land? And even earlier than that, when he lived in Berlin in the early 1920s, to understand that Hitler would soon become the greatest enemy the Jews, and the entire world, had ever known? I had to find out.

Book Origins of the Black Atlantic

Download or read book Origins of the Black Atlantic written by Laurent Dubois and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-01-11 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Between 1492 and 1820, about two-thirds of the people who crossed the Atlantic to the Americas were Africans. With the exception of the Spanish, all the European empires settled more Africans in the New World than they did Europeans. The vast majority of these enslaved men and women worked on plantations, and their labor was the foundation for the expansion of the Atlantic economy during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Until relatively recently, comparatively little attention was paid to the perspectives, daily experiences, hopes, and especially the political ideas of the enslaved who played such a central role in the making of the Atlantic world. Over the past decades, however, huge strides have been made in the study of the history of slavery and emancipation in the Atlantic world. This collection brings together some of the key contributions to this growing body of scholarship, showing a range of methodological approaches, that can be used to understand and reconstruct the lives of these enslaved people.
