Cette thèse d'inscrit dans cette dynamique à travers l'étude des corrélations quantiques spatiales entre des paires de photons intriqués de haute dimensionnalité générées par l'émission paramétrique spontanée et détectées à l'aide de caméras EMCCD. Dans ce manuscrit, nous présentons le principe de la génération des paires de photons intriqués et la méthode de mesure expérimentale des corrélations quantiques spatiales entre ces photons. Ensuite, nous introduisons un modèle numérique de la fonction d'onde du biphoton permettant de simuler la propagation des paires de photons intriqués à travers un milieu diffusant mince et épais et nous présentons les résultats expérimentaux correspondant. Dans le cas d'un diffuseur mince, nous démontrons que la distribution de la fonction de corrélation quantique en champ lointain décrit un speckle si le faisceau pompe est suffisamment large dans le plan du cristal, tandis qu'en champ proche, le contraste du speckle de corrélation est réduit. Dans le cas d'un diffuseur épais, nous démontrons que la fonction de corrélation décrit, dans les deux espaces, une structure granulaire avec un faible contraste. Enfin, en utilisant un SLM nous démontrons d'une part qu'à travers une méthode itérative, il est possible de focaliser un faisceau cohérent sur une cible situé derrière un diffuseur avec les mêmes performances que la méthode basée sur la matrice de transmission du diffuseur. D'autre part,en absence de diffuseur, nous démontrons expérimentalement qu'il est possible de manipuler les corrélations quantiques spatiales entre les paires de photons intriqués. En présence d'un diffuseur nous démontrons numériquement qu'il est possible de focaliser les corrélations quantiques spatiales sur une cible située derrière le milieu diffusant.

Book excerpt: L'objectif des travaux présentés dans cette thèse est d'étudier la propagation de la lumière dans les milieux inhomogènes afin de repousser les limites actuelles de l'imagerie : les aberrations et la diffusion multiple. Dans une première partie, nous avons associé les outils et le formalisme initialement développés pour les ondes ultrasonores aux techniques propres à l'optique. Grâce à un dispositif expérimental innovant, nous avons enregistré les réponses d'un milieu complexe pour une collection de champs incidents, formant ainsi une matrice de réflexion. Une étude des corrélations spatiales de cette matrice permet alors de séparer les contributions de diffusion simple et multiple. Alors que la première permet de former une image seulement limitée par la diffraction d'un objet enfoui au sein du milieu, la seconde permet de caractériser les paramètres de transport de la lumière dans le milieu.La seconde partie de ma thèse s'est intéressée à la possibilité d'extraire une information cohérente à partir d'un champ aléatoire. Il a été démontré, en acoustique et en sismologie notamment, que la corrélation d'un champ incohérent mesuré en deux points permettait d'estimer la réponse impulsionnelle entre ces deux mêmes points. Dans ma thèse, nous avons étendu cette approche aux ondes optiques. En particulier nous avons démontré la mesure de réponses impulsionnelles entre des diffuseurs individuels à l'aide d'une simple lampe halogène et d'un montage interférométrique. A la suite de cette preuve de principe, nous avons réalisé des estimations de paramètres de transport pour des milieux fortement diffusants.

Dans une première partie, nous montrons que l'Équation de Transfert Radiatif (ETR) est un très bon outil pour l'étude de la propagation de lumière en milieu complexe. À l'aide de ce formalisme, nous étudions l'évolution de la cohérence spatiale du faisceau au sein du milieu, véritable signature des différents régimes de transport des photons (diffusion simple, diffusion multiple, diffusif). Ensuite, nous décrivons une démonstration rigoureuse de l'équation de la diffusion à partir d'une approche modale de l'ETR. Nous obetnons en particulier que le coefficient de diffusion est indépendant de l'absorption en régime instationnaire au contraire du régime stationaire dans lequel il dépend fortement du niveau d'absorption du milieu. Enfin, nous nous intéressons aux fluctuations temporelles d'intensité diffusée et montrons que l'utilisation de l'ETR permet d'aller au-delà du régime diffusif décrit par la théorie de la spectroscopie par ondes diffuses (DWS). Des comparaisons sont réalisées entre des calculs numériques et des expériences en réflexion afin d'évoquer le rôle fondamental de l'anisotropie de la diffusion non décrit par la théorie standard. La seconde partie est centrée sur l'étude de l'émission de lumière en milieu complexe. Dans un premier temps, nous étudions l'amplification de lumière diffusée dans un système à gain appelé laser aléatoire et montrons qu'il existe un seuil laser en régime de rétroaction incohérente. Ce seuil est quantifié en utilisant une approche modale de l'ETR. Nous montrons en particulier à partir de ce formalisme les limitations de l'approximation de la diffusion dans un tel système. Ensuite, nous évoquons la modification du taux de fluorescence d'une molécule placée dans un milieu complexe. Nous mettons au point un modèle permettant de remplacer le milieu diffusant par un milieu homogène effectif moyen prenant en compte la diffusion multiple et les interactions entre diffuseurs. Ce modèle est validé par comparaison des taux d'émission fluorescente de la molécule placée au sein du milieu. Enfin, nous nous attardons sur le calcul du champ retourné temporellement dans un milieu complexe. Pour cela, nous étendons l'expression connue en acoustique au cas des ondes électromagnétiques. L'expression du champ retourné temporellement est valable dans un milieu réciproque et non absorbant, mais éventuellement anisotrope.

Book excerpt: Imager un milieu diffusant épais par voie optique interdit l’utilisation des techniques d’imagerie optique conventionnelles du fait de la faiblesse du signal balistique. L’imagerie acousto-optique de la lumière diffusée permet d’obtenir une imagerie de l’absorption optique locale avec une résolution transverse millimétrique. Elle s’appuie sur un faisceau acoustique focalisé qui engendre par interaction acousto-optique une modulation de la phase du champ lumineux diffusé. Les détections cohérentes du signal optique modulé acoustiquement se trouvent cependant souvent limitées par la faiblesse de leur étendue optique ou de leur bande passante. Notre expérimentation s’appuie sur une détection photoréfractive hétérodyne reposant sur une holographie dynamique à 1064nm construite autour d’un cristal photoréfractif massif d’Arsenure de Gallium, pour pallier à ces deux limitations. Par ailleurs, pour obtenir une résolution millimétrique selon l’axe de propagation ultrasonore, nous avons développé une technique de modulation aléatoire de phase du faisceau acoustique et du faisceau lumineux qui crée une zone de cohérence temporelle contrôlée au sein même du milieu diffusant. La mise en oeuvre de ces techniques ont permis d’imager avec des résolutions millimétriques des échantillons diffusants de caractéristiques proches des tissus biologiques sur une épaisseur de 3cm.
