Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: - Are you tired of living a life that feels restricted by the expectations of others? - Do you constantly put yourself last, feeling like your needs don’t matter? Many women struggle with prioritizing their own well-being, often sacrificing their happiness, peace, and confidence to meet societal standards, family demands, or workplace pressures. The pain of losing yourself in the process of caring for everyone else is real. You’ve been conditioned to think that loving yourself is selfish, that drawing boundaries is rude, and that your worth is tied to how much you can give. But the truth is, "self-love isn’t selfish—it's essential". "You are allowed to be both a masterpiece and a work in progress simultaneously." – Sophia Bush This quote beautifully encapsulates the essence of your journey. No matter where you are in life, you deserve to love yourself fiercely, unapologetically, and wholly. And that starts by affirming your worth and reclaiming your power. In this empowering guide, you’ll learn how to harness the power of affirmations to live boldly, confidently, and with a sense of inner peace. Affirmations are more than just positive words—they are transformative declarations that can reshape your mind, reframe your beliefs, and help you embrace your highest potential. The Problem Women Face Women today are often pulled in a million different directions—careers, family, relationships, and personal growth. We’ve been conditioned to think that taking care of ourselves comes last. We’re praised for being selfless but are judged harshly when we ask for time or space to focus on our own needs. It’s easy to feel lost, exhausted, and depleted when you’re constantly pouring from an empty cup. Many of us face the crippling effects of self-doubt, low self-esteem, and a deep-seated fear of disappointing others. Drawing boundaries feels impossible when you’ve been taught to say “yes” to everyone except yourself. This book will empower you to: - Embrace Self-Love: You will learn to see yourself as worthy of love, care, and attention. Self-love isn’t about perfection; it’s about accepting yourself as you are, flaws and all, and recognizing that you are enough. - Build Unshakable Confidence: Using affirmations, you’ll reprogram your mind to believe in your abilities, strengths, and unique talents. Confidence isn’t something you’re born with—it’s something you cultivate, and this book will guide you in doing just that. - Draw Strong Boundaries: No more feeling guilty for saying “no.” This book will help you assert yourself with clarity and conviction. Boundaries are not walls—they’re essential lines that protect your peace, time, and energy. You’ll learn how to set them with kindness but firmness. What You'll Gain: - Daily Affirmations: Practical affirmations designed to boost your confidence, encourage self-love, and help you build stronger boundaries in every area of your life. - Peace of Mind: The realization that you don’t have to do it all or be everything to everyone. You can love yourself fully, take time for yourself, and still be there for others without losing who you are. - A Life of Empowerment: By practicing these affirmations consistently, you’ll be equipped to live a life that honors your true self. You’ll feel more grounded, at peace, and in control of your destiny. It’s time to stop settling for less. "This is your moment to rise, reclaim your power, and love yourself enough to draw the boundaries that will protect your peace". Affirmations are your gateway to living boldly, and this book will guide you every step of the way. Are you ready to start your journey toward self-love, confidence, and inner peace? Book I Was a Virgin When I Married Him but He Caused Me to Be Treated like a Prostitute

Download or read book I Was a Virgin When I Married Him but He Caused Me to Be Treated like a Prostitute written by Vicksay Baby Moten-Richardson and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2022-03-07 with total page 463 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My name is Vicksay Baby Moten-Richardson; I am the last of fourteen children. I realize now why I am so different in so many ways, not in a bragging way but in a way that God has laid it on my heart to share my life in this book. Not too many people are named Baby. It was not until I was eighteen and graduating from high school when I revealed that my middle name was Baby. When the principal of the school called my name and I walked up to get my diploma, it took over ten minutes to stop the class of 1974 from laughing. What a wonderful memory that was. For many years, I felt like I was a nobody, even though forty-two years ago I bought a new home when I was twenty-two years old with my sister, and she still lives there to this day. I was voted most likely to succeed. I completed high school in three years instead of four. I was number fifty-six in a class of 560, grade-wise. I would have ranked higher, but because I was graduating a year earlier, it caused my ranking to be calculated differently from the students who had attended high school for four years. I received three four-year scholarships to the University of Arizona. I completed a twenty-four-month computerized accounting program in eighteen months while raising four extremely sickly and one very difficult foster child and while running a full-time day care from my home. I took twenty-four classes in those eighteen months and received twenty-three As and one B. Of course, I give God the glory because He is the only one who gives us strength. I was a straight-A student. Since I was in first grade, I have always assisted children with learning disabilities. However, the one thing that I am proudest of was that I married a virgin. Inside I was this sad and disappointed little girl that I thought no one would love or care for. And one more thing that I am proud of is that with the only two men I have been intimate with in my whole sixty-four years of life, I took my wedding vows first. But that same person whom I just told about filed bankruptcy several times, moved over fifty times, and lost over fifteen cars and over forty jobs, all because of pride, disobedience to God, and letting people speak negativity into my life. It is very difficult to share your weakness with the world and those whom you love and know. But it is more liberating to know that my story is going to help many people, especially women, not to make the mistakes I have made.

Book Managing Cultural Change

Download or read book Managing Cultural Change written by Melissa Butcher and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-05-13 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite decades of policy interventions and awareness raising programmes, migration and mobility continue to give rise to tensions and questions of how to live together in a culturally diverse world. Managing Cultural Change takes a new approach to these challenges, re-examining responses to migration and mobility as part of a process of managing wider cultural change. Presenting research from a range of settings, from liberalising India, global workplaces in Asia, and migrant youth culture in Sydney, this book explores the manner in which cultural change disturbs established frames of reference. In considering affective responses to these liminal moments of disruption, it argues that adaptive strategies such as 'demarcating difference' and 're-placing home', that is, reasserting belonging, are deployed in order to reclaim a sense of synchronicity within the self and with a transforming external environment. With attention to the prevalence and durability of the processes and tensions inherent in cultural change, the author also examines the intercultural, or cosmopolitan, competencies developed in interaction with difference, and whether it is possible to 'teach' people these skills in order to re-find 'cultural fit' and manage change in a constantly shifting world. Contributing to research on transnational migration and mobility studies, while developing the use of conceptual tools such as 'cultural fit' and 'liminality', Managing Cultural Change will be of interest to sociologists, geographers and anthropologists working in the fields of globalisation, migration and transnational communities, ethnicity and identity, belonging and cosmopolitanism.

This book was released on 2007 with total page 506 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book relates the success of a seemingly impossible challenge: to have a group of academics and people living in persistent poverty conduct research together. What conditions can the knowledge drawn from poverty cross with academic rigor? What type of knowledge does this collaboration result in? This is what The Merging of Knowledge presents in terms of the processes of The Fourth World-University program and the result of its five groups of work: history, family, knowledge, work and human activity, and citizenship. The results featured in this book can be appreciated on many levels. At the level of content, this unique collaboration offers knowledge from the very poor regarding their lives that is neglected or misunderstood in fields as varied as history, family sociology, work sociology, and political science. This "voice of the voiceless" is brought to the book by collaborative writing and is presented with the academics' methodological and epistemological contribution. At the level of gathering and understanding the information collected, the very poor are often given the role as "witnesses" of poverty in interviews. Here, as researchers, they contribute to rigorously examined content that illuminates their situations.

Book My Political Race

Download or read book My Political Race written by Parmjit Dhanda and published by Biteback Publishing. This book was released on 2015-03-24 with total page 175 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As Labour MP for Gloucester, when things were good for Parmjit Dhanda they were very good. He was rolled out for Labour conferences and media appearances as a poster boy for the party - a shining example of a new Britain, where white constituencies chose ethnic minorities as their candidates and then elected them as their MPs. It was the ultimate political fairy tale. However, the other side of Parmjit's story remained hidden for years. Its exposure threatened to undermine the received political narrative and neither Dhanda nor his colleagues were comfortable addressing the issues it would inevitably bring to light. Then something life-changing happened. As Parmjit and his family strove to remake their lives in the wake of Labour's 2010 general election defeat, there came a knock on the door of their Gloucester home one Sunday morning. A frightened-looking lady stood there shaking and distressed, her dog pulling her by its lead towards one of the cars parked outside. In the middle of the drive was a pig's head. To experience this kind of racism so close to home and so close to his young family left him feeling demoralised and isolated. After Parmjit's nine years of service to the local area, the perpetrators hadn't even realised the difference between a Sikh and a Muslim. Comprising unique insights, witty anecdotes and thought-provoking critique, this is the extraordinary tale of how a 'foreigner' in the Westminster village upset the odds - despite Britain's failure to address issues of race within its own Parliament. Speaking out for the first time about the uncomfortable truths he faced during his time in politics, Parmjit Dhanda hopes he can help present a smoother path for others in the future, as well as encouraging those currently in the game to speak out for themselves.

Download or read book Agridulce written by Dhayana Alejandrina and published by Gatekeeper Press. This book was released on 2021-08-12 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is divided into two sections: Lo Agrio and Lo Dulce. The poems in each of these sections represent emotions I have felt, as well as the stories of people I have encountered throughout my life. I believe that human connection teaches us about our meaning in life. Every time I have a conversation with someone or share a connection, I am welcoming their energy. This energy allows me to understand their experiences, as well as what they have learned. I use poetry to bring life to all the emotions we experience in this life journey, showing that to live is to embrace the good and the bad. Lo Agrio We often suppress negative feelings because we are afraid of others’ reactions, or afraid of facing our own darkness. We forget that these emotions can also teach us lessons, reshape our perspectives, and allow us to tap into our most vulnerable selves. As we experience pain, loss, anger, and heartache, we are also experiencing life. Once we learn to accept these emotions, we will be able to embark on a more meaningful personal journey. Lo Dulce At times, pain can come from love, just like love can come from pain. This chapter starts with finding inner peace by experiencing different forms of love—not just a love connection with someone else, but a love connection with ourselves. It represents a journey of self-acceptance and healing that leads towards opening ourselves to love, sexuality, and self-confidence.

Book The Inside Songs of Amiri Baraka

Download or read book The Inside Songs of Amiri Baraka written by Aldon Lynn Nielsen and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-06-28 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Inside Songs of Amiri Baraka examines the full length of Baraka’s discography as a poet recording with musicians as well as his contributions to jazz and R & B, beginning with his earliest studio recordings in 1965 and continuing to the last year of his life, 2014. This recorded history traces his evolution from the era of Beat poetry and “projective verse,” through the period of the Black Arts Movement and cultural nationalism, and on to his commitments to “third world Marxism,” which characterized the last decades of his life. The music enfolding Baraka’s recitations ranges from traditional African drumming, to doo wop, rhythm and blues, soul and the avant garde jazz that was his great love and the subject of so much of his writing, and includes both in-studio sessions and live concert performances. This body of work offers a rare opportunity to think about not only jazz/poetry, but the poet in the recording studio and the relations of text to score.

Book excerpt: Whatever Touches Your Life 1983 By James Richard Langston Listen . . . hear the cricket, In the softness of the night, Stand quietly by a meadow, See the birds taking flight. Hear the whisper of a breeze, Blowing through trees of pine, Let whatever touches your life, Be in tune to touching mine. Touch the velvet of a rose, On an early summer’s day, Smell the sweet aroma, Of a field of new mown hay. Throw caution to the wild wind, Play it loose just one time, Let whatever touches your life, Be in tune to touching mine. Blink your eyes at the sun, As it sets behind the hill, Skip a rock across the pond, By the old rustic mill. Cheer your team on to victory, As it comes from behind. Let whatever touches your life, Be in tune to touching mine. Taste a frosty snowflake, As it falls upon your tongue, See a mother hen fret, As she hovers o’er her young. Stay in tune with mother nature, Give her reason, give her rhyme, Let whatever touches your life, Be in tune to touching mine.

Book Personal narratives of Irish and Scottish migration 1921 65

Download or read book Personal narratives of Irish and Scottish migration 1921 65 written by Angela McCarthy and published by Manchester University Press. This book was released on 2017-10-03 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Between 1921 and 1965 Irish and Scottish migrants continued to seek new homes abroad. Using the personal accounts of these migrants from letters, interviews, questionnaires, and shipboard journals, together with more traditional documentary sources such as immigration files and maritime records, this book examines the experience of migration and settlement in North America and Australasia. Through a close reading of personal testimonies the author highlights the assorted similarities and differences between the Irish and Scots. Subtle differences rather than yawning cultural gaps are apparent; similarities in attitude and expectation are more common than divergent or unique experiences. The key revelation of the work is that, despite a number of peculiarities characterising their individual and collective experiences of migration, both the Irish and Scots were relatively successful migrants in the period under consideration. Using interviews, both spoken and written, and tackling issues of why and how versions of the past are represented and what they mean, this fascinating study considers individual and collective memory and the use of personal testimonies as historical evidence: their uniqueness and typicality. Furthermore, in using personal narratives the book portrays individual migration experiences which are often hidden in studies based on statistical analysis.
