Download or read book Machine Learning written by Yves Kodratoff and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-06-28 with total page 836 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Machine Learning: An Artificial Intelligence Approach, Volume III presents a sample of machine learning research representative of the period between 1986 and 1989. The book is organized into six parts. Part One introduces some general issues in the field of machine learning. Part Two presents some new developments in the area of empirical learning methods, such as flexible learning concepts, the Protos learning apprentice system, and the WITT system, which implements a form of conceptual clustering. Part Three gives an account of various analytical learning methods and how analytic learning can be applied to various specific problems. Part Four describes efforts to integrate different learning strategies. These include the UNIMEM system, which empirically discovers similarities among examples; and the DISCIPLE multistrategy system, which is capable of learning with imperfect background knowledge. Part Five provides an overview of research in the area of subsymbolic learning methods. Part Six presents two types of formal approaches to machine learning. The first is an improvement over Mitchell's version space method; the second technique deals with the learning problem faced by a robot in an unfamiliar, deterministic, finite-state environment.

Book Advanced Artificial Intelligence

Download or read book Advanced Artificial Intelligence written by Zhongzhi Shi and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2011-03-04 with total page 631 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Artificial intelligence is a branch of computer science and a discipline in the study of machine intelligence, that is, developing intelligent machines or intelligent systems imitating, extending and augmenting human intelligence through artificial means and techniques to realize intelligent behavior.Advanced Artificial Intelligence consists of 16 chapters. The content of the book is novel, reflects the research updates in this field, and especially summarizes the author's scientific efforts over many years. The book discusses the methods and key technology from theory, algorithm, system and applications related to artificial intelligence. This book can be regarded as a textbook for senior students or graduate students in the information field and related tertiary specialities. It is also suitable as a reference book for relevant scientific and technical personnel.

Book Artificial Intelligence in Perspective

Download or read book Artificial Intelligence in Perspective written by Daniel Gureasko Bobrow and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 1994 with total page 482 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This major collection of short essays reviews the scope and progress of research in artificial intelligence over the past two decades. Seminal and most-cited papers from the journal Artificial Intelligence are revisited by the authors who describe how their research has been developed, both by themselves and by others, since the journals first publication. The twenty-eight papers span a wide variety of domains, including truth maintainance systems and qualitative process theory, chemical structure analysis, diagnosis of faulty circuits, and understanding visual scenes; they also span a broad range of methodologies, from AI's mathematical foundations to systems architecture. The volume is dedicated to Allen Newell and concludes with a section of fourteen essays devoted to a retrospective on the strength and vision of his work.Sections/Contributors: - Artificial Intelligence in Perspective, D.
