Download or read book Abraham Maslow de la ierarhia nevoilor la auto realizare written by Stefano Calicchio and published by Stefano Calicchio. This book was released on 2023-12-17 with total page 93 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book The Hierarchy of Needs written by Valentin Matcas and published by Valentin Leonard Matcas. This book was released on 1901 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What do you want the most in life? Is it immediate gratification, or continuous prosperity and development? Is it the best for you and your family, or the best for the entire world? Or is it simply to feel the best, as much as possible? Because your needs determine your life, as they always seek to control you, in every manner. While you can still choose their entire fulfillment, in any order, manner, and priority you desire. Because everything common, necessary, unique, delightful, and original in life and in the world, you do in order to fulfill your needs. While this is exactly your hierarchy or harmony of needs and fulfillment, while if you remain ignorant of these, you end up living your life randomly, ideologically, or instinctually, but not at the genuine intelligent human level. Your needs might not always regard you, as you expect. Study yourself throughout your fulfillment, to see how you do not actually live your life on your behalf, but on behalf of your cells. Because your entire activity is meant to tend to your cells, in every manner, and nothing else. Your eating activity is an example, since you always eat in order to feed your cells. It is the same with thirst, security, breathing, recovery, and reproduction, because you fulfill all these in order to tend to your cells, and to keep their genetic material in the world long after you are gone. Yet there is still more to your needs and fulfillment to study and understand, because you live your life on behalf of your cells, body, and subconscious mind through the fulfillment of your lower level needs, while you live your life on behalf of your family, community, nation, society, and the entire world through the fulfillment of your needs of higher levels and higher classes. Because people expect you to fulfill some of their needs too, while they also fulfill yours. But can you ever make order in all these? Study yourself now, to find your lifelong activity filled up with a multitude of needs, all being more or less important, harder or easier to fulfill, higher or lower in nature, addressing higher classes of life or only yourself, with all needs fulfilled randomly or in a precise order or hierarchy. Throughout this book, we model the human needs and fulfillment while identifying and classifying them accurately, by studying closely all hierarchies and harmonies of needs, helping you distinguish the necessary in your fulfillment from the irrelevant, in order to find a clear meaning in life and in the world, for you and for the entire world.

Book The Course of Love

  • Author : Alain de Botton
  • Publisher : Simon and Schuster

Download or read book The Course of Love written by Alain de Botton and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2016-06-14 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “An engrossing tale [that] provides plenty of food for thought” (People, Best New Books pick), this playful, wise, and profoundly moving second novel from the internationally bestselling author of How Proust Can Change Your Life tracks the beautifully complicated arc of a romantic partnership. We all know the headiness and excitement of the early days of love. But what comes after? In Edinburgh, a couple, Rabih and Kirsten, fall in love. They get married, they have children—but no long-term relationship is as simple as “happily ever after.” The Course of Love explores what happens after the birth of love, what it takes to maintain, and what happens to our original ideals under the pressures of an average existence. We see, along with Rabih and Kirsten, the first flush of infatuation, the effortlessness of falling into romantic love, and the course of life thereafter. Interwoven with their story and its challenges is an overlay of philosophy—an annotation and a guide to what we are reading. As The New York Times says, “The Course of Love is a return to the form that made Mr. de Botton’s name in the mid-1990s….love is the subject best suited to his obsessive aphorizing, and in this novel he again shows off his ability to pin our hopes, methods, and insecurities to the page.” This is a Romantic novel in the true sense, one interested in exploring how love can survive and thrive in the long term. The result is a sensory experience—fictional, philosophical, psychological—that urges us to identify deeply with these characters and to reflect on his and her own experiences in love. Fresh, visceral, and utterly compelling, The Course of Love is a provocative and life-affirming novel for everyone who believes in love. “There’s no writer alive like de Botton, and his latest ambitious undertaking is as enlightening and humanizing as his previous works” (Chicago Tribune).

Book Support Structures

Download or read book Support Structures written by Céline Condorelli and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Support structures is a manual for what bears, sustains, props and holds up. It is the culminations of many endeavours. The first is the collaborative project "Support Structures" by Céline Condorelli and Gavin Wade from 2003-2009. The second is a critical enquiry by Condorelli that exposes an almost complete absence of literature or theory of what constitutes "support". This book is itself articulated as a supporting structure, a manual for engagement in and with its subject, which attempts both functionally and structurally to operate much like it." -- Foreword.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The United Nations population estimates and projections form a comprehensive set of demographic data to assess population trends at the global, regional and national levels. They are used in the calculation of many of the key development indicators commonly used by the United Nations system, including for more than one third of the indicators used to monitor progress towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. The 2019 revision of the World Population Prospects is the twenty-sixth edition of the official United Nations population estimates and projections, which have been prepared since 1951 by the Population Division of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs. The 2019 revision presents population estimates from 1950 until the present for 235 countries or areas, which have been developed through country-specific analyses of historical demographic trends. It builds on previous revisions by incorporating additional results from the 2010 and 2020 rounds of national population censuses as well as information from vital registration and recent nationally representative household sample surveys. The 2019 revision also presents population projections to the year 2100 that reflect a range of plausible outcomes at the global, regional and country levels. These Highlights summarise key population trends described by the estimates and projections presented in World Population Prospects 2019.

  • ISBN : 0520297946
  • Pages : 322 pages

Download or read book Engaged Anthropology written by Stuart Kirsch and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2018-03-30 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Does anthropology have more to offer than just its texts? In this timely and remarkable book, Stuart Kirsch shows how anthropology can—and why it should—become more engaged with the problems of the world. Engaged Anthropology draws on the author’s experiences working with indigenous peoples fighting for their environment, land rights, and political sovereignty. Including both short interventions and collaborations spanning decades, it recounts interactions with lawyers and courts, nongovernmental organizations, scientific experts, and transnational corporations. This unflinchingly honest account addresses the unexamined “backstage” of engaged anthropology. Coming at a time when some question the viability of the discipline, the message of this powerful and original work is especially welcome, as it not only promotes a new way of doing anthropology, but also compellingly articulates a new rationale for why anthropology matters.

This book is primarily for primary and secondary teachers but would provide much material for discussion among SpLD teachers, given the unexpected and controversial results of Denis Lawrence′s research′ - Dyslexia Contact `Many useful suggestions offered in this book about learning activities are likely to help pupils to feel better about themselves, to learn to respect others and to experience how feelings can be expressed safely′ - British Journal of Special Education Raising self-esteem in pupils can lead to the achievement of higher academic results and fewer behavioural problems. Outlining in simple terms what self-esteem is and providing strategies to support it in the classroom, this book includes clear explanations of the terminology and theory behind self-esteem, and lots of practical examples and useful activities for use with children. Book excerpt: Addressing its technical evolution as well as its military and social impact, this comprehensive reference shows how historic leaders such as Dionysus of Syracuse, the Ottoman sultan Mohammad II, Oliver Cromwell, and Napoleon Bonaparte were successful in battle because of their innovative use of artillery. Artillery: An Illustrated History of Its Impact charts the development of large, crew-operated battlefield weapons from the dart firers and catapults of the ancient world to the invention of gunpowder in China and its applications in medieval Europe, and from the emergence of naval and land gunnery four centuries ago to the latest rapid-fire, rocket propulsion, laser guidance, and antiaircraft technologies. Written by an expert on military history, Artillery explores the technological and strategic innovations that have made these weapons increasingly effective at breaking through fortifications, inflicting casualties from a safe distance, providing cover for advancing forces, demoralizing opponents, and defending positions from attack. Beyond the battlefield, the book also looks at the impact of artillery on history and on the lives of civilians as well as soldiers.

Book Food Waste Reduction and Valorisation

Download or read book Food Waste Reduction and Valorisation written by Piergiuseppe Morone and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-04-26 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book adds a new dimension to the sustainability assessment of food waste reduction and valorisation: policy analysis. Featuring a transdisciplinary analysis by key experts in the field, it identifies the drivers of change in food-waste reduction and valorisation technologies by looking, for example, at the regulatory framework and at policy actions undertaken by local and global actors. The book explores the development of regulations and policies for food-waste prevention, management, and valorisation at a global as well as European Union level. It also discusses the notion of food waste in legal terms and investigates the effects of the lack of a standard, universal definition of food waste on the efficient use of by-products, promising processes and products for technological and commercial exploitation. Utilising mathematical mapping methods to assess food consumption impacts and providing supply chain models that allow the testing of consumption scenarios, the book goes on to discuss a series of emerging technologies (tested at lab scale and/ or pilot scale) and opportunities for the valorisation of food waste.
