Book IDENTIFICATION D UNE CIBLE SONAR PAR UTILISATION CONJOINTE DE MOYENS ACOUSTIQUES ET OPTIQUES

Download or read book IDENTIFICATION D UNE CIBLE SONAR PAR UTILISATION CONJOINTE DE MOYENS ACOUSTIQUES ET OPTIQUES written by ALEXIS.. BACELAR and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: EN RECONNAISSANCE D'ESPECES DE POISSONS PAR ECHO ULTRASONORE, ON ETUDIE LA CORRELATION DE LA POSITION ET DE L'ORIENTATION D'UN POISSON DANS LE FAISCEAU SONAR AVEC L'ECHO RENVOYE PAR LE POISSON. DANS CE TRAVAIL, NOUS AVONS COMMENCE PAR ELABORER ET TESTER UN ALGORITHME DE RECONSTRUCTION 3D DU VOLUME ENGLOBANT ET D'EXTRACTION DE PARAMETRES GEOMETRIQUES A PARTIR DE TROIS VUES ORTHOGONALES. LA SUITE DU TRAVAIL CONCERNE LA CORRELATION ENTRE LES PARAMETRES GEOMETRIQUES, OBTENUS PAR TRAITEMENT D'IMAGES, D'UN POISSON NAGEANT LIBREMENT EN CUVE AVEC L'ECHO SONAR LARGE-BANDE 20-140 KHZ ACQUIS SIMULTANEMENT. LES VARIATIONS DE L'INDEX DE REFLEXION OU TARGET STRENGTH ET DU SPECTRE NORMALISE EN ENERGIE ONT ETE ETUDIEES EN FONCTION DE DIFFERENTS PARAMETRES GEOMETRIQUES: ANGLE DE SITE, ANGLE D'AZIMUT ET POSITION DU CENTRE DE GRAVITE POUR TROIS ESPECES DE POISSONS (PERCHE, OMBLE, GARDON). UNE PREMIERE ETUDE SUR UN POISSON UNIQUE, PLACE DANS UNE MEME POSITION, A DEJA MONTRE UNE GRANDE VARIABILITE DE L'ECHO DUE A SON AGITATION. CELA A PU ETRE CONFIRME PAR LES IMAGES ACQUISES PENDANT LE TIR ULTRASONORE. UNE SECONDE ETUDE SUR DES POISSONS PEU AGITES A REVELE QUE LA VARIABILITE DANS L'ECHO DEPEND PLUS DU STRESS DU POISSON QUE DE SA POSITION DANS LE FAISCEAU SONAR. L'ETUDE DE TROIS ESPECES DIFFERENTES PLACEES DANS UNE MEME POSITION FAIT APPARAITRE DES DIFFERENCES ENTRE LEURS SIGNATURES ULTRASONORES MAIS AVEC UNE VARIABILITE INTRA-ESPECE QUI RESTE IMPORTANTE. ON PEUT CONCLURE QUE LA VARIABILITE DE L'ECHO INTRA-ESPECE DUE A L'AGITATION DU POISSON EST TROP FORTE PAR RAPPORT A LA VARIABILITE INTER-ESPECES POUR ESPERER REALISER UNE CLASSIFICATION ROBUSTE DES ESPECES. DES METHODES DE CLASSIFICATION MISES EN UVRE ANALYSE DISCRIMINANTE, HISTOGRAMMES, RESEAU DE NEURONES CONFIRMENT CES RESULTATS

Book Critical Discourse Studies in Context and Cognition

Download or read book Critical Discourse Studies in Context and Cognition written by Christopher Hart and published by John Benjamins Publishing. This book was released on 2011 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Critical Discourse Studies (CDS) is an exciting research enterprise in which scholars are concerned with the discursive reproduction of power and inequality. However, researchers in CDS are increasingly recognising the need to investigate the cognitive dimensions of discourse and context if they want to fully account for any connection between language, legitimisation and social action. This book presents a collection of papers in CDS concerned with various ideological discourses. Analyses are firmly rooted in linguistics and cognition constitutes a major focus of attention. The chapters, which are written by prominent researchers in CDS, come from a broad range of theoretical perspectives spanning pragmatics, cognitive psychology and cognitive linguistics. The book is essential reading for anyone working at the cutting edge of CDS and especially for those wishing to explore the central place that cognition must surely hold in the relationship between discourse and society.

Book Ad Hominem Arguments

Download or read book Ad Hominem Arguments written by Douglas Walton and published by University of Alabama Press. This book was released on 1998 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A vital contribution to legal theory and media and civic discourse In the 1860s, northern newspapers attacked Abraham Lincoln's policies by attacking his character, using the terms "drunk," "baboon," "too slow," "foolish," and "dishonest." Steadily on the increase in political argumentation since then, the argumentum ad hominem, or personal attack argument, has now been carefully refined as an instrument of "oppo tactics" and "going negative" by the public relations experts who craft political campaigns at the national level. In this definitive treatment of one of the most important concepts in argumentation theory and informal logic, Douglas Walton presents a normative framework for identifying and evaluating ad hominem or personal attack arguments. Personal attack arguments have often proved to be so effective, in election campaigns, for example, that even while condemning them, politicians have not stopped using them. In the media, in the courtroom, and in everyday confrontation, ad hominem arguments are easy to put forward as accusations, are difficult to refute, and often have an extremely powerful effect on persuading an audience. Walton gives a clear method for analyzing and evaluating cases of ad hominem arguments found in everyday argumentation. His analysis classifies the ad hominem argument into five clearly defined subtypes—abusive (direct), circumstantial, bias, "poisoning the well," and tu quoque ("you're just as bad") arguments—and gives methods for evaluating each type. Each subtype is given a well-defined form as a recognizable type of argument. The numerous case studies show in concrete terms many practical aspects of how to use textual evidence to identify and analyze fallacies and to evaluate argumentation as fallacious or not in particular cases.

He's a dandy from the Bacongo district of Brazzaville - AKA a sapeur or member of the Society of Ambience-makers and People of Elegance. But is flaunting sartorial chic against tough times enough for Buttologist to cut it in the City of Light?

When ten-year-old Birahima's mother dies, he leaves his native village in the Ivory Coast, accompanied by the sorcerer and cook Yacouba, to search for his aunt Mahan. Crossing the border into Liberia, they are seized by rebels and forced into military service. Birahima is given a Kalashnikov, minimal rations of food, a small supply of dope and a tiny wage. Fighting in a chaotic civil war alongside many other boys, Birahima sees death, torture, dismemberment and madness but somehow manages to retain his own sanity. Raw and unforgettable, despairing yet filled with laughter, Allah Is Not Obliged reveals the ways in which children's innocence and youth are compromised by war.
