Book Understanding ICT Standardization

Download or read book Understanding ICT Standardization written by Nizar Abdelkafi and published by . This book was released on 2019-05-23 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To advance education about ICT standardization, comprehensive and up-to-date teaching materials must be available. With the support of the European Commission, ETSI has developed this textbook to facilitate education on ICT standardization, and to raise the knowledge level of ICT standardization-related topics among lecturers and students in higher education, in particular in the fields of engineering, business administration and law. Readers of this book are not required to have any previous knowledge about standardization. They are introduced firstly to the key concepts of standards and standardization, different elements of the ecosystem and how they interact, as well as the procedures required for the production of standardization documents. Then, readers are taken to the next level by addressing aspects related to standardization such as innovation, strategy, business, and economics. This textbook is an attempt to make ICT standardization accessible and understandable to students. It covers the essentials that are required to get a good overview of the field. The book is organized in chapters that are self-contained, although it would be advantageous to read the book from cover to cover. Each chapter begins with a list of learning objectives and key messages. The text is enriched with examples and case studies from real standardization practice to illustrate the key theoretical concepts. Each chapter also includes a quiz to be used as a self-assessment learning activity. Furthermore, each book chapter includes a glossary and lists of abbreviations and references. Alongside the textbook, we have produced a set of slides that are intended to serve as complementary teaching materials in face-to-face teaching sessions. For all interested parties there is also an electronic version of the textbook as well as the accompanying slides that can be downloaded for free from the ETSI website (www.etsi.org/standardization-education).

Book Teachers Research in Language Education

Download or read book Teachers Research in Language Education written by Verónica Sánchez Hernández and published by Common Ground Research Networks. This book was released on 2021-07-23 with total page 421 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past decade, interest in language teacher education and professionalization programs has increased significantly mainly due to global educational reforms, which have been driven by internationalization, multilingualism, the rise of new literacy and the incorporation of technologies. These reforms, based on the challenges of knowledge societies and networks, have created the need to re-evaluate and reconceptualize teacher training and teacher professional development as a "fundamental connection to teaching" (Bryant et al., 2008; Vélaz de Medrano & Vaillant, 2009; Espinosa, 2012; Johnson and Golombeck, 2018). The main objective is, then, to “prepare the new generations within an increasingly uncertain and demanding global scenario” (Pérez Ruíz, 2014, p 114). This publication addresses work on the education of language teachers in a variety of sociocultural, educational and institutional contexts carried out in Mexico and Latin America with various methodological designs and approaches from different theoretical perspectives. Therefore, in the context of current challenges, we seek to promote the exchange, discussions of experience and results of research and reflection that can influence the direction and implementation of language policies regarding teacher education and teacher professionalization for language teaching.

Book Award in Education and Training Understanding and Using Inclusive Teaching and Learning Approaches in Education and Training

Download or read book Award in Education and Training Understanding and Using Inclusive Teaching and Learning Approaches in Education and Training written by Nabeel Zaidi and published by Education and Training Consultants Ltd. This book was released on 2015-04-12 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook provides you with all the up-to-date information you need to pass first time, since it focuses systematically on each of the assessment criteria in the unit. As a lecturer / trainer / tutor / assessor / curriculum manager, how do you ensure: 1. that all individual learners’ needs are identified and met effectively? 2. that full account is taken of disability and learning difficulties when preparing and delivering teaching, learning and assessment strategies? 3. that strategies applied to reduce the barriers to learning experienced by disabled learners and those with learning difficulties are legitimate and reasonable and do not provide them with an unfair advantage? 4. that the most appropriate teaching, learning and assessment methods are used?, and 5. that sessions are planned and delivered effectively (and evidenced accordingly as part of a MICRO-TEACH)? This textbook addresses each of these questions, with supporting research as needed, while remaining tightly focused on the unit’s assessment criteria. Out of the three units of the Award in Education and Training, Understanding and Using Inclusive Teaching and Learning Approaches in Education and Training is probably the most demanding to understand and apply. What sets this book apart is the author’s application of his considerable experience to this subject area in order to simplify it for those new to teaching and/or new to the subject. Whether you are delivering training or lectures to 16-18 year-olds, mature learners, professionals, managers or international students, with a range of learning needs and barriers to learning, this book will prove useful in preparing you not only for your unit assessment, but also for work in the sector. Most importantly, the book adopts a practical approach, which is supported by evidence and, where relevant, cross-referenced to Ofsted and QAA expectations. It is therefore suitable for those intending to enter teaching and training as well as those already involved in delivering or managing a programme. Understanding and Using Inclusive Teaching and Learning Approaches in Education and Training is the second book in the Award in Education and Training series and covers each aspect of the Award in Education and Training (AET) unit of the same name. Like the first book on Understanding Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training, this book is mapped directly to each of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for the unit across all awarding organisations. It provides detailed practical explanation and links to various other resources so that whether you are new to teaching or already in a teaching or related role, there will be a detailed examination of inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training. People purchasing this book may find it useful to have a copy of the first book in the series (Understanding Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training) as background. Books available in the Award in Education and Training series: 1. Understanding Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training (Book 1) 2. Understanding and Using Inclusive Teaching and Learning Approaches in Education and Training (Book 2) 3. Understanding Assessment in Education and Training (Book 3) (coming soon) More in-depth reading relevant to this publication: 1. Download or read book Digital Diversity written by E. Dianne Looker and published by Wilfrid Laurier Univ. Press. This book was released on 2010-08-04 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Digital Diversity: Youth, Equity, and Information Technology is about youth, schools, and the use of technology. Youth are instrumental in finding novel ways to access and use technology. They are directly affected by changes such as the proliferation of computers in schools and elsewhere, and the increasingly heavy use of the Internet for both information sharing and for communication. The contributors to this volume investigate how the resources provided by information and communication technology (ICT) are made available to different groups of young people (as defined by gender, race, rural location, Aboriginal status, street youth status) and how they do (or do not) develop facility and competence with this technology. How does access vary for these different groups of youth? Which young people develop facility with ICT? What impact has this technology had on their learning and their lives? These are among the issues examined. Youth from a wide variety of settings are included in the study, including Inuit youth in the high arctic. Rather than mandate how youth should/could better use technology (as much of the existing literature does) the contributors focus on how youth and educators are actually using technology. By paying attention to the routine use and understandings of ICTs by youth and those teaching youth, the book highlights the current gaps in policy and practice. It challenges assumptions around the often taken-for-granted links between technology, pedagogy, and educational outcomes for youth in order to highlight a range of important equity issues.
